So, if I'm gathering everything correctly, this chapter was foreshadowing the end of the fight from the first episode being that Boruto will have to accept that the only possible outcome to save the world will be to kill Kawaki, which he's repeatedly refused to do. I think it would be kind of fitting for his character, who always wanted his father's approval, the do the one thing that Naruto never did and Boruto has sworn not to do, but if he doesn't the world will end.

Sarada is a main character who specifically looks up to the strongest hokage and is the daughter of his rival - She's quite literally in the same position as Boruto who looks up to the second strongest ninja and is the child of the strongest hokage. Sarada should narratively grow in a similar fashion to Boruto and surpass her parent and idol the way Boruto has. Sarada being a main character also needs to surpass Naruto's peak moment as a leading figure that got him to the hokage position (4th War & Pain Arc) and thus needs to be on the front line as a major participant I'm aware that Sarada won't be nearly as strong as Boruto because he has Otsutsuki DNA that boosts him to the next level, but Sarada shouldn't be out of the realm of Boruto.
