They won’t kill him thats for sure. The most he might get is exiled, or labeled a traitor, forced to prove his innocence or whatever, but his intelligence isn’t one to be scoffed at. Even the elders can’t hold a candle to him. Not to mention he’s the only one smart enough to keep up with Amado. Without Sasuke there to bluntly call his bluffs, and no Shikamaru, Amado would essentially turn it Light Yagami after L died. He’d absolutely run Konoha from behind the scenes

Yes, if He gets killed off that will give Boruto more darkness and more character development. It's also possible that both that and Koshi Kash Boruto's 2nd mentor after sasuke gets killed by the shinju or Kawaki himself. If that happens Boruto will end up killing kawaki in the end.

Thumbnail reminded me that shikamaru was one of the characters kishimoto considered killing off in his second round of charcater kill-offs. [Apparently, neji and chouji and maybe some of the other guys were supposed to die in the sasuke retrieval arc but the editors (and probably studio pierrot executives as well) stopped him from doing so. And then, he had another round where shikamaru, kakashi, and neji were considered for the kill-off. That round ended with neji since studio pierrot exectuives forced kishimoto to change the end of naruto and make naruhina canon - which is why naruto the last movie was made and retconned everything.] I have said before that kishimoto and the naruto/boruto manga team was using boruto to right the wrongs that happened with naruto and to write in stuff they couldn't do in naruto. It was obvious with some of the implied pairings and how some of the characters are written (while ikemoto still tries to make boruto separate from naruto), so maybe kishimoto will use boruto to kill off naruto characters he wanted to kill off in naruto but couldn't before. Killing shikamaru would anger a lot of people though and ruin the family-friendly image studio pierrot wanted for the boruto anime.

After the fight vs Naruto and Sasuke, FUSED Momoshiki replenished his health and chakra with the scientific ninja tool from Katasuke, ate 3 more chakra pills which replenished him even further, and still lost 1v1 to *KID* Boruto while Naruto and Sasuke were pinned down by chakra rods. 3. *BASE* Boruto using a shadow clone was capable of blitzing FUSED Momoshiki, punch him in the stomach, activate his Jougan, counted FUSED Momoshiki's taijutsu, which created an opening for another vanishing rasengan hit to his ribcage all before the real Boruto came out of the sky with his giant vanishing rasengan(which was mixed with BOTH Boruto and Naruto's chakra) to defeat FUSED Momoshiki but the *FACT* still remains that *KID* Boruto did indeed fight *FUSED* Momoshiki *1v1* and held his own and defeated him proving he's already Otsutsuki tier which is NOT *DEBATABLE*
