Yeah I also want to know more about otsutsuki's origin and why they are collecting chakra from all over the universe ? What are motive behind there action? But I don't think that we get this answer soon at least not this year because the manga is focused on the eida,code and daemon so my speculation is that they cover the about otsutsuki's in the next sequel of boruto like boruto Shippuden.

It makes alot of sense to me, he was a god who lost to another god and got imprisoned by the stronger god, so he split apart of himself off to create the Otsutsuki race which he uses to gather strength and feeds them to himself, and this process is repeated till he is strong enough to break out of the imprisonment. Tbh if this was the actual plot I wouldn't be surprised its interesting and seems pretty plausible.
