A diameter of 40 mm is much larger than a circumference of 40 mm. The Bosch can handle 40 mm diameter.

Very very useful to have some real world experience relayed back, rather than just the usual "new" review that goes throughteh features and first performance. Many thanks!

Thank you for the video. I was really surprised when I opened the box not to find any assembly or using instructions. While the picture on the box looked simple to assemble, to see someone else assembling and advising on tools needed was helpful and reassuring. Also an explanation of the use of the Allen key - there was no mention anywhere what it was for in the box. Well done.

Thank you for your kind comment. I'm glad the video was helpful. I hope you get a lot of use out of your new shredder. I'm using mine almost every day now that it's autumn.

You have reminded me of another very useful tool I should get for my garden. I definitely need one of these especially to be able to make my own mulch. Thanks for the review, very informative👍🏾

Yes, it's a great help keeping the garden tidy 👍🏻

If you mulch fresh green branches, you can go larger diameter - i just did some some 1" branches green and it was a breeze. Dry branches, however, have to be much smaller in diameter, since the wood gets dry and it can damage the blade really easy.
@NowGardening2 жыл бұрын
Good to know! I was mulching this weekend and tried a 1-in dry branch and finally pulled it out. It looked like I'd put it in a pencil sharpener, filed to a point on the end.

Here's a really useful tip I am giving you for free ;-). Please ditch that useless cardboard box from underneath the exit chute and invest in a smallish plastic bucket or a round tub (or even a washing up bowl, at a pinch). Place the bucket or tub (or bowl) under the chute so that it is level, not at an angle like you've been doing with that box. Then, when the chippings come out, you will be able to see them straight away and know when to move the chippings already in the bucket out of the way with your gloved hand (or even empty the bucket/tub into a garden waste sack). That will ensure no 'backing up' of the shreddings in the chute due to them having no room to exit, which is the problem you are having with chute jams caused by that cardboard box. Please try it. It works ;-)

I'm looking to chip planks from old pallets. Will this device be suitable or should I be looking for something else?
@NowGardening6 ай бұрын
I can’t say, but I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s gotten jammed when I’ve tried other lightweight materials (like dried tomato plant stems, for example),
@danielmoonen18916 ай бұрын
@@NowGardening Thanks for that. I think I'm coming to the conclusion that I'd have to saw up the planks into slimmer pieces before I use them in a garden shredder.

Do you thing bouganvilla branches would run nicely through machine? The thorns make disposing of them not so nice when cutting up manually.
@NowGardening2 жыл бұрын
Hi Victoria, thanks for your question. You will still have to feed the branches into the machine somewhat. I don’t use it for roses, for example, because of the thorns. But then again, I have a big property where I can toss my rose branches on a pile and wait for them to compost. If your choices are to cut them up by hand or use this machine, the machine is the better option. Hope this helps!

It could have handled those larger branches .You are getting the circumference mixed up with the diameter -max 40c

Hi girl , I have a similar size machine , I find u almost need to look for the perfect branch for it to work , it also doesn’t like leaves , thankfully my oldest boy works on the power lines and their wood chipping crew drops trucks loads to me 😁…not sure about yours but my cutters are reversible so if yours get dull see if u can flip them upside down before getting new ones , good to see u again

Hi Junior, you hit the nail right on the head. I kind of spot-check my pile of branches to see which ones will give me good wood chips before I start working. That's awesome that your son hooks you up...although I'm definitely jealous lol. Hopefully, I won't have to touch the blade anytime soon, but I'll keep your tip in mind when I do! Take care until next time, and stay warm (saw it was starting to snow in some places this week).

At 2:07 you measured the circumference of the branch, not the diameter. The specifications state the diameter...

Have you used it to shred any plant material like leaves? What about breaking down organic materials for a composter?
@NowGardening3 жыл бұрын
Hi Clayton, I haven't tried it with compostable materials because it doesn't seem to handle "green" material very well. Damp leaves or even freshly-cut brush bog down in it or shoot out only partially cut. Sorry I don't have a full answer, but I hope this helps.

Motor failed after 4 years. Replacement part: ~£120. Not worth it when similar shredders can be had for as little as £80 new. Brand means nothing nowadays; everything is manufactured in the same Chinese sweat shops.
