How long is this refridgerator estimated to last? It's okay to spend that money but not for a product that won't last any longer than other cheaper brands.

@@snowy7236 Yes. Love it. Haven't had a single issue. The dreaded leaking ice maker never happened and the door does require an extra push to close but you get used to that. You never accidentally leave it slightly ajar because of it so I see it as a feature almost. The vegetable and fruit drawers/setting do a great job keeping it fresh longer.

I defrosted the ice maker and then turned up the freezer temp to 5 degrees (from zero)...problem solved!

That sounds like wonderful technology those filters, except an important little detail was conveniently left out. Buyers will need to replace those 2 filters every 4 months at $25 for both, so over a year that's $100 assuming prices don't go up. That means that if that fridge lasts 10 years you will have spent $1,000 to maintain it, again assuming prices don't go up. And Bosch will only make spare parts available for 15 years after whichever model we buy stops being produced, after that period no more filters, or any other parts, will be available. Those filters are nowhere near worth the selling price, one is just a small charcoal bag, and the other is some sort of small mesh filter, both are probably made for less than $2, so this is just another way to gouge the consumer and get them on the hook to keep paying something to Bosch I love Bosch products, have a couple myself, but I won't be buying their fridges. We went over 75 years without filters in fridges I think we can continue to go without them.

@@d05wtt I had a huge issue with a Dutch door Samsung I bought 9 years ago, it kept freezing up and required that I manually defrost it every 2 to 3 months. There was a long going class action lawsuit on all of their fridges, about 2 months ago Samsung finally settled the suit and they sent a guy out to fix the fridge, they replaced the ice maker and a circuit board in the back of the unit, so far so good, but I'm only 2 months into it. I asked the repair guy what happens if that repair doesn't do the job, and he said Samsung is then required to make a settlement on the fridge, apparently for about half the value new, some of the repairs did not work, so time will tell if mine will work. This was a Samsung-authorized repair company and the repair guy said that he would not buy any Samsung appliances and that they were the worst of the worst! Which fridge would I buy if the Samsung fails completely? I don't know yet, but I know I don't want a fridge with expensive filters to replace all the time. Don't get me wrong, I have a Bosch glass stovetop and dishwasher, they are wonderful, but I won't buy something that is going to require costly maintenance periodically. I'm 73 years old, I've had several fridges over my lifespan, and I remember my parents had several as well, all those fridges worked just fine without fancy filters. Technology has gotten out of hand and is costing us money in parts and durability.

This issue is not unique to bosch, virtually all brands with water filters are the same. The Bosch manual states to change the filter every 6 months (but it depends on your water quality on when the indicator says to change it). If you don't like filters, then just never replace the one that comes with the fridge, it continues to work.

@@Zedola I wasn't talking about water filters, I failed to make that clear, I was talking about the freshness filters Bosch uses, they have two of them in each fridge.
