"Now let's actually use this thing in anger" I love this humor. You have quite the dry wit.

I’ve been using a couple of normal planers for a couple of years then inherited my step fathers makita 18v brushless one and my god it’s a beast. I often use semi green wood and it eats through it no problem plus has 2mm depth which is epic compared to most others. Plus I get lots of wood chip for my chickens and geese bedding.

Looks like a nice light useful tool especially with the chamfer grooves.

That’s got to be a world first…. Setting up a new tool and finding your vac actually fits the dust port! 😂

Funny as I happened to pick up my first electric planner too only last week to trim a handful of doors. Just remember to transfer your hand weight to the back of the machine as you're exiting the cut to prevent the cutter head from dipping into the work piece when the front section is unsupported (I made this mistake too!).

Clamp a piece of scrap wood to both ends of door, it will prevent tear out of the edges of the door.

Hi Matt, Look's a good planer, you seem to be happy with it. What I like is you can attach you dust bag or shop vac either side which is a good idea. As always a great video with a honest review. Take care👍

Yes it is handy to be able to swap sides

Looks to be a well thought out planer Matt, as you say a handy tool to have and being cordless is a real advantage, despite having it hooked up to an extractor !

Nice little project Matt. I hand shot a frame in last week because I left my power plane at home…. Good for the shoulders 🤨 I would have had the block up the other way up, purely personal choice, there you go. The bee’s wax finish looks lovely, never tried it, I am going to now 👍🏻

After the first few passes (4:26) there where some very visible marks left (of the width of the planer). How did you get rid of those? The block looks really beefy and will make a nice addition to your kitchen, Matt!

I gave it another pass then sanded it all

The way you are holding it suggests it’s a lot lighter than my Elu (which I’ve had for over 20 years). One of the things I like about its heft is that it rides so steadily along a long edge.

@@Badgerworkshop just checked - my Elu Mof80 is almost 4 bags of sugar - 8lbs! (Or 3.7kg in new money!). I also have the thicknesser stand which is great for quickly squaring 3x1 or 2x1.

Have same cordless planer, brillant tool, bought it earlier this year, & with Bosch Pro Deal got a free GST 18V-LI S jigsaw, another suberb tool, but it's not designed for a left handed user, switch is awkward to use.
