How do you set the input gain on mic input so that when you turn the volume up its not increasing the input gain just the volume of the channel.

Hello. I’m targeting this line array PA system and really appreciate seeing your video. More for the Bose people, but 2 things I’m wondering about. Why is there reverb with just 2 of the 3 channels. What’s the problem with designing it for all 3? The other Item is the soft case. There’s one for the line array, but not the sub? I don’t get that. The sub should have one too. I’m now aware they can be obtained from 3rd parties, but still. Thanks again for your efforts!

I’m also zeroing in on the great feedback shared here by Mad Ness (below) who ended up going with an EV system. His points are totally valid.

With these types of systems, it's a big benefit if the singer is pretty much right on the mic.

I really wanted to own an L1 Pro 16 with a T8S tonematch mixer. It sounded awesome and wide but............... That plasticy design with that crappy ultra light spacer supporting that expensive 16 speaker line array that actually wobbles!!!! Seriously WTF Bose???? I instead opted to spend less money on a pair of Evolve 30Ms with their own phenomenal signature sound and IMHO a superior build quality with solid speaker poles. They also don't require any expensive proprietary external mixer to get features as simple as a midrange control on the eq, a basic compressor and multiple different effects, dynamics and eqs that should have been included with at least 4 mic inputs as standard. Sorry Bose but you're no longer the only kid in town when it comes to portable line array speaker systems.

Needs 4 channels then it would be complete. yes you can buy a 500.00 mixer but it defeats the portability and quick setup. The EV30M has this, why didn't Bose do it?
@WWeiss-nv5vz3 жыл бұрын
EV30M App also has volume/mute control of sub- why didn't Bose do that? While we are at it- EV App has a full band EQ, Bose has old school two band bass/treble, no mid control?? Bose SQ does sound better than EV.

No footswitch on/off control for the reverb on vocals or guitar. Lovely system, but without these controls it's frustrating to have to use an outboard unit just to be able to talk to your audience between songs, without effects. Or am I mistaken in that the new system allows foot control of the reverb etc ?
@Scott__C3 жыл бұрын
If you mount the phone on your stand, you can mute easily from the app.
@johnmorrell3 жыл бұрын
@@Scott__C So, I'd now need two stands: one for my ipad lyrics and setlists, and one for my phone for the app to switch off the effects. In essence, balance app switching with my hands, instead of a simple foot-switch. What happens when I talk or animate or animate an audience during a song where both my hands are being used to play my instruments, and I don't need any effects on my voice? Bluetooth is already being used for ipad page turning on other apps, so that's ruled out. Now I`d need to mount my phone too ? I love the Bose equipment and have been using the L1II for a long time, but the constant lack of footswitch control on your gear for musicians shows a basic misunderstanding of how your equipment is used in the real world. This gear is designed to be used at smaller venues, yet you have created an unnecessary visual and technical complication, by adding what I presume you have though would be a help to a performing musician. In the world I live and work in, adding more complications - visually and technically - to what I ( and other musicians / singers ) already have to do to concentrate on their performance is a real blunder of Bose's part. It's no mistake that 99% of all profession gear on stage is foot-switch or pedal driven. Your R&D team should have been listening to the complaints over the years, in Bose and other forums, to the real world problems on no footswitch or pedal control on Bose equipment for live performers. This is such a basic oversight with such a simple solution, its incredible you've ignored so many end users feedback in your latest version of the L series. Other than that, Bose gear is still some of the best live pa's around for smaller to medium venues.

@@johnmorrell Not necessarily. On the iPad you can use the multitask feature to have both open on iPad. There are bluetooth footswitches, but unsure if they can be mapped to things in the Bose app.

@@johnmorrell It's a good point. Personally, I don't care for when you hear people talking between songs with the reverb on, so I understand the need fully.

I'm concerned with how difficult it would be to separate speaker from the extension. I used to be a cameraman for a video company. And I watch when videos and recordings to see when they are cut and sliced. Watch how difficult it is for him to remove the extension. Imagine how difficult it should be to remove something that's up higher that you can't put your hand on top of. You would have to jiggle and pull and jiggle and pull. So I watched when he separated it and if you noticed they cut away and started it just when he was Raising it up. Because they didn't want you to see all the jiggling and tugging that had to go in to it. They only let you see when it was already separated. I don't like the fact that they did that. As opposed to showing me the difficulty and how to overcome it. I'm going to be looking into other speakers, like the EV. It concerns me how the speakers will hold up over time with one person jiggling and tugging on that piece to separate it. I believe it'll be just a matter of time before that plastic connection cracks or breaks. then you have lost the entire speaker on the array. Or if you break it is pushed into the subwoofer common now you lost the array and the subwoofer. Promise $2,000 that's an awful big chance. And what if someone else helps you and they pull it wrong and they break it. Will they fix it. How much will it cost to get another mid-range array.

I have the pro 8 and the struggle is not it the up side. It’s easy to detach but the extension in the subwoofer become hard have to put knee on subwoofer to pull the extension. But after hear the great sound and the little weight of a PA you don’t care the struggle 😅
@hotchpotch32782 жыл бұрын
My Pro8 might be an easier fit than yours @@LuisJacob366 , but I find if I hook my fingers over the little ridge low down in the back of the spacer I can lift it out fairly easily. With the top if I hold it an push it upwards it separates. Maybe I'm less fearful of the plastic breaking because I used the heck out of a Bose L1 Compact for nearly 10 years.

Is this a comedy cannel? This sounds not good. I tried them here in Germany at Thomann (Europes biggest Music Stuff Seller) for a few hours. You have to cut the bass half away to get a „proper“ sound . Compared to EV and others it‘s a joke. Especially if you mention the price - it‘s perhaps worth the half and everthing is plastic, plastic, plastic… Very bad and cheap construction.
