Thank you for this review. After all criticism on net, KZbin, etc you convinced me to go with QC45. I couldn't decide between these and 700. Be honest better Bluetooth, battery life, newest software and the most important feature - comfiness. I don't make calls or won't use it outside so it means perfect option for me. Cheers mate.

Thanks for this review! I'm waiting eagerly for my pair which will be delivered next Monday. I used to have the bose 700 but I had to return it because it got very uncomfortable after an hour or two wearing them. I think with any expensive headphones comfortability really is a huge factor that is sometimes overlooked. I'm glad they didn't make any drastic design changes and just stuck with the tried and true formula. Btw you have a beautiful home!
@camshand
@camshand 2 жыл бұрын
Dude that's exactly why I skipped the 700's. I heard more often than not that the clamp force was too much for extended periods of wear and I want to be able to have these on all day. So far, I've had zero fatigue and walked around the office yesterday enjoying them. I also like that it's inline with the typical design, with slightly smoothed edges and refinements like removing the pleating from the earcups. Nice subtle design changes to give them a 2021 feel. And thank you 😍 My wife would be happy to hear!

@@camshand The issue for me is the lack of ANC off mode. I would like passive noise isolation when I'm at home and not on a plane. Aware mode is not what I'm looking for, as it's going to pick up outside noise. Guess I'm keeping my QC35's until the day they die.
@AdrianaMartinez-lp3fn
@AdrianaMartinez-lp3fn 2 жыл бұрын
The Bose 700 also have other important defects : - They fall off your head - When you move your head, even slightly, there is a crackling noise due to the design - They don’t have much bass As far as comfort is concerned, it’s not just about the clamping force, actually my ears touched the inside of the earpads. I returned them. Nobody should buy them. Really. I don’t even understand how they could have made so many mistakes.

@@AdrianaMartinez-lp3fn 👍 the “big“ companies seem to learn very slow!!! or tactics, selling more on the long run. the small earcups are really à drag for adults in the western world. and no alternative. why don’t they offer 2 different pairs of cups, slightly different, maybe thinner. there should be a solution for not ignorant companies......

Thanks for the review! I just returned my Beats Studio 3 headphones because I did not like the reviews I saw "after" I had already purchased them! The biggest deal breaker was that they still used the micro-USB input and immediately, even before I opened the box, I took them back to BestBuy and purchased the QC-45s. I did get at least one review before I purchased them and I haven't opened the box yet but now I do have some pretty high expectations for them. Wish me luck Thanks for sharing!

What a terrific review and so well produced and presented. You sold me. I'm coming from the great Bose QuietComfort 20 wired Noise-Cancelling earbuds. Most of my listening will be on my LG V60 using the wired connection. The V60 has an incredible 32-bit Hi-Fi QuadDAC and has a terrific onboard equalizer. Where Bose also stands out is how they go above and beyond when the phone is out of warranty.

Thank you for the review.. Early this year , although, I have always been a fan of Bose QC lineup , I end up getting the Sony XM4 , i just found them better than the QC35II or the 700 ‘s. Especially much more comfortable, I have always used Bose and it was hard to switch to Sony . But from your review i think i will give the Bose QC45 a try . I truly miss the simplicity of the Bose the 100% comfort in the ear and the excellent noise cancelling that they have always been famous for. Thanks so much!!!

Yeah the XM4s are great headphones. Only reason I held off from them was fear of headband cracking like with previous models and the lack of room inside the earcup that Bose are amazing at. End of the day, headphones in this price range are all fantastic and we can enjoy music at amazing quality. Im just happy with my upgrade from the QC25s to finally go wireless 👍

AMAZING VIDEO! All the different points you covered made a lot of sense and I think will definitely help a lot of people when trying to decide if these are right for them. The only thing you didn't cover (which I understand is probably something people won't do with these) was what the sound was like with the cable? I imagine some someone will want to know...🎧
@SocialHardware
@SocialHardware 2 жыл бұрын
Correction, sorry, you did talk about it with the cable but that was via an audio interface with lossless files, what about just plugged in to your phone etc? Major difference from Aux to the phone Vs Blueooth? Oh and could you technically use them for playing games? Oh and do they have a built in mic and what did that sound like?
@camshand
@camshand 2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes could have emphasized cable use more. When turned on (quiet mode) and cable to phone with Spotify is sounds great. Can't tell if placebo because of cable but Spotify's compression won't have much more detail vs the AAC Bluetooth. With FLAC files on the phone they sounded richer than same from Spotify with cable (as expected) They also sound surprisingly good with just the cable and turned off. They're a lot more bass heavy, so I presume their Active EQ tech when turned on is evening out the signature. Vocals also aren't as crisp but that could be to do with the bass overshadowing it. Wired in they could totally be used for games given you won't have any added latency like with Bluetooth. Also mic test at 8:18, not the best thing around but usable for calls or chat mic 🎤

Awesome review, buddy. I appreciate it. I am really glad they have an IPX4 rating, just like the QC 35 ii. Awesome review, it really shows how much the ANC has improved from their predecessor, QC 35. I heard a slight hiss sound, but since it both came in aware and quiet mode and also when testing the ANC on the other headphones, I can assume it's the hissing noise from the microphone. Anyways, I would appreciate it if you can also test the headphones against strong wind noise outside and see how well they block noise in a crowded train. I remember with the QC 35 ii you couldn't hear any voices, but you could hear the speaker who announces the really annoying stations.
@camshand
@camshand 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I cannot find IPX4 mentioned anywhere online or in the manual but the Bose tech on the phone assured me they're IPX4. NC is sooo solid, at work we have fans blowing from Air Con, 3D printers, laser cutters and the moment I press the Quiet button it's just pure silence. The only sounds I hear still piercing through are high pitched, they're greatly reduced but that's all that can sneak through (like the footsteps crunching I referenced in the vid). Do you mean mic test outside in wind? Or to just see how much wind you can hear over the Noise Cancelling? I'd say the train would be similar to the cafe test. I live in a regional town in Australia so won't be finding a crowded train anytime soon 😂 Hopefully when someone that lives in a city gets their hands on them they can comment on that for you 👍 Thanks for watching 😊

@@camshand Cool. Thanks for your reply. I meant both the microphone outside and the ANC in the train when listening to music. How well are the microphone and ANC against strong noise and/or strong wind noise. Can you for instance hear the high pitch sound from underground trains passing by, and how well are the person on the other side of the phone hearing you during a call with a lot of background noise. Like for instance talking during underground trains passing by. Is it significantly better than the QC 35 ii.
@zirak93-2
@zirak93-2 2 жыл бұрын
@@camshand Also, does the QC 45 have the too low volume issue? How loud is your volume bar when it's on a comfortable volume? I remember on the QC 35 ii it had to be at 100 % when I listen to classical music, while other types of music had to be at 70-80 %, which in my opinion is a bit insane. The Sony's Xm4, on the other hand, had a comfortable volume at 30-40 % like regular wired headphones.

But yeah in general, I do yardwork, build things, you can see me wearing them in a lot of my DIY project videos and they're still white.

I've only got the QC25s on me currently to compare Bose wise and they feel the same depth wise, my ears don't touch and very roomy. That's my main reason for going Bose over the Sony as when using XM4s I could stand the tip of my ear touching the inside of the cup. Hold on ... what? Cannot connect to an adapter to use them on a flight? This is why many people buy these things, to use on an aircraft. That sounds a little bonkers to warn not to use on a flight! My wired QC's have flown around the world a dozen or more times.

Yeap crazy dumb move :( I don't get why they'd change a essential feature. Then I remembered the uproar after the QC 35 II release as that's when they made the change. You can see it in their manual assets.bose.com/content/dam/Bose_DAM/Web/consumer_electronics/global/products/headphones/qc35_ii/PDF/811772_og_quietcomfort-35-wireless-ii_en.pdf I do however bet people are just using them anyways, and I haven't heard any news of headphones exploding. Workaround, you can buy battery powered aux to Bluetooth dongles, so you could plug one of them into the aeroplane to play it safe, but yes, totally agree bonkers!

Can you still use the noise cancellation while it’s hooked to the wire
@camshand
@camshand Жыл бұрын
Good question, yes the noise reduction works if you have the headphones switched on. You can also use the headphones plugged in via headphone jack and switched off, but the sound profile is a flatter and there's no noise cancelling then, but useful if your headphones go flat and you're in a pinch

There’s a very important thing which no review mention. It may be due to personal experience and awareness. ANC of my Bose QC35ii was degraded with a firmware update. You can find hundred of pages of complaints in Bose community page on this. I wanted to give a shot to NC700 still, against XM4. And NC700 is not bad at all, it was a very close competition. But the nail in the coffin for Bose was that you cannot completely stop firmware updates and I’m not taking that risk again. I’ve confirmed this with their customer service. These are more electronic device than they are headphones. And we all know things can go wrong with new firmware versions. They should have given full control on this to the user. This is possible in Sony app. You toggle auto download/install off, and it won’t download or update any firmware unless you do it yourself. Good job To Sony here.
@jordan140789
@jordan140789 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, you just uninstall the app
@terapatik
@terapatik 2 жыл бұрын
@@jordan140789 Of course it can't do updates if you don't use the app but that's not really a auto update de-activation capability I look for in such device and particularly from a company that is infamous with their software/firmware failures. Deleting the app is just not using the device you pay for to its fullest. With this mindset, another and even a better solution is not to buy the thing in the first place to make sure it doesn't do firmware updates automatically? :) I'm paying for that app and the features/customization that comes with it with that price tag. See, in Sony's app you just toggle auto download/updates off, and you can use what you've payed for in full without being bothered by firmware updates that can potentially degrade or brick your device. You have full control over the device you own. You don't have to put your device at risk to benefit from features you payed for.

@@terapatik 1. No it did not degrade. You have to understand that people audiophile community are neurotic. And think they hear things that they don't actually hear. That evidence you stated is just subjective experiences. 2. Bose engineers went into people's houses to test this out and they found nothing that determined ANC has decreased after firmware updates. 3. 3rd parties have also confirmed this as well (KZbin won't allow me to share links but search "Non, le nouveau firmware du casque Bose QC 35 II n'affaiblit pas la réduction de bruit") They confirmed it as well that there's no significant change in ANC after firmware update. 4. Within that article it's noted that almost after every single update people complain and say that the ANC is worse when there's no change to it at all. It's just the boy crying wolf again and again.

I think i have to pull the trigger on these. First of all im NEVER buying any apple audio devices again. The Airpods Max are complete trash after 2 years. Apple f***ed up because the ears are to close to the speakers and theres no ventilation, so the speakers get humidity actual water droplets or sweat droplets on over the speakers and all the electronics in general and ruin the headset completely. Meaning now, they disconnect every minute from my iphone. They disconnect whenever i take them off my head, even though i turn off auto head detection, the feature that is supposed to keep it playing music or whatever even though you take them off. And then the Airpods Pro 2nd Gen is trash because the eartips just dont fit and always break the seal and pop out my ears. So yeah, Apple are just noobs to audio devices compared to Sony and Bose. Thats why Apples entry into audio is completely a disappointment to say the least. Maybe in 2 years from now, so in 2025 , then i would maybe try buying Apple audio devices then, maybe they learn and fix there mistakes. But you cant go wrong with Sony or Bose audio devices. They have NEVER given me any issues even close to the issues Apple has given me. I literally have wasted $550 + $250 which equals $800 for nothing. So never again apple, Sony and Bose for audio guys. Apple do phones good, but they are trash for audio. ✌️

Gee John that must be super disappointing... The Max's are really expensive, if I made that investment I'd want them to last longer than 2 years (I guess they're out of warranty period now too? It's funny as I used to greatly dislike Bose as a Teenager for their prices, always thought "There's no way they can be better than the $50 headphones I can afford" but now as an Adult I truly appreciate their quality and reliability, had my wired QC25's for many years and loved them. And all my friends which have had the Sony WH-1000 series have thoroughly enjoyed them.
