I often use my Apple Watch and iPods for Spotify detached from my phone, but searching for music is clunky or not possible. I can just play saved stuff

When you pair and apple watch + iphone + apple maps, before every turn (roughly 50m away from the turn) the watch vibrates to let you know that a turn is coming which i find to be extremely nice of a feature to have. I wish i could do the same for google maps tho

Cool! One idea I had, is that you can find small portable wireless chargers with a USB C port (no attached cable), so perhaps you could 3D print an enclosure that holds the watch and the charger together, with a key-ring or something else, making it less prone to dropping and adding a charging port!

Connecting my Bluetooth headphones to my Apple Watch is a nightmare. It just doesn’t work 80% of the time. They are Beats headphones with the H1 chip, so even being in the Apple ecosystem seemingly hasn’t helped. It sounds like your watch is connecting to your headphones fine?

You could also look into a portable media player (PMP) or digital audio player (DAP). A lot of them have streaming services pre loaded and thats about all you can do on it. Its interesting seeing this trend of moving away from the phone and going towards single purpose devices. I'm here for it too.

if youre really worried about audio quality, apple music offers hi-res lossless quality which is the best you can get from digital audio

nice idea! if you want to revisit the car idea, you could try adding a little heatsink to the back of the watch within its mounting. A little cooling goes a long way & might make it an even more versatile device.

There's some devices out there that basically function as modern iPods with a focus on playing FLACs, MP3s, and Streaming. Activio, Sony, and FiiO. Most of them just run android so you could in theory get social media on them but you could also just as easily set some sort of parental control rule to block anything except for Spotify, Audible, etc. if that's an issue.

This is why I use Apple Music for 99% of my music listening stuff. I HATE Spotify! HATE IT. I hate the UI and the content library. Even the music quality isn’t the best.

just use that damm watch like normal person...obviously you use it a lot like map on the car...song on the car...chilling without phone like joging and so on....dont be that wierdo.

The problem is that you dont have mp3 files. Just get them, then you also own your stuff instead of being reliant on spotify. But i have to admit that this solution is quite nice :)

Make a old school chain for pocket watch and complete the look

You should make a Case that includes the Charger and a power bank (power bank could also charge your phone) or Maby a case that includes a pair of in-ear headphones as a all in on solution for listening music.

I mean that just a smart watch but in complicated. You can just put the straps back on and just wear it and get even more out of it than "just" an MP3 player...
