I have a small 3 piece band and we do restaurant and small venue gigs. I want to eliminate carrying around old school PA because it’s heavy and needs a lot of cables and power outlets. Need small portable PA. Just bought 2 Bose S1 Pro +. On sale right now at GC. Going to try out first with just the Bose S1 Pro + by itself. If we need more bass I will purchase the Bose Sub 1. So happy because now with battery powered PA and light weight this is a dream come true. And easy to transport. Great video thanks for sharing your experience.

I don't have the s1pro+ but this setup is my favorite setup. Compact and the sound is amazing! I do like the Everse 8 and the ELX200 12SP a lot, but to my ears the Bose S1pro and sub1 is my favorite. If I need more volume I use a mixer. LOL 🤣 Great video!
@WWeiss-nv5vz4 ай бұрын
So for the next step up in volume needed you would take the EV8/ELX200 pair or go to a single PRX One?
@shaneberckman4 ай бұрын
@WWeiss-nv5vz those 2 systems are very close in sound and portability. The PRX1 has a 7 channel mixer and the app for it has been updated and works great. You can EQ the main and each channel separately. I thiit has phantom power on 3 channels . It is an amazing system. You really have to play with it a while to figure out everything it can do. The Everse 8 and ELX200 12SP has just enough to get by and definitely delivers. And they cost about the same. They both make great bluetooth speakers but if you don't want to carry a sub the Everse 8 sounds really good by itself. So that is a hard call. I love them both and don't plan on getting rid of either one and I use them both about equal. LOL That being said I can't really answer that question because they are so close in the sound you can get out of them and with my 600watt power station I can fill a pretty bit space. I guess it would depend on how many channels you need.

S1 Pro Plus went back up to $700, was $600 when I made this video.
@djerniet35020 күн бұрын
As of December 2024 it it's back to 600. I just purchased a sub2 and I saw the 600 dollar price. I have 2, s1pr+ I purchased in september. The first event I was djing with them, I was rolling my cart in passing the kid pool (1ft of water). One of the s1po+ fell into the water. I had taken them out of the box and they only had the white styrofoam wrap that comes on it in the box. I jumped into that pool fully clothed but thankfully it was only the kid pool and grabbed the speaker so fast I only had wet shoes after that. Needless to say the styrofoam made it float. Some water poured into the styrofoam of course. So I immediately got to my dj table and took a pool towel and started drying the speaker off thoroughly. It worked with no issues and has not given any problems. I love the sound of the s1pro+. I also use the new allen and heath cq12t mixer. I traded my bose t4 for it. It is an amazing mixer. For my big events I use QSC tops (K10 or K12's and QSC KW118 subs.

WARNING! During this bass heavy track at high volume the Sub1 started to bottom out. Metal woofer basket hitting enclosure. Not good for longevity of sub. The dangerous part, the sub remained on green. Very hard to hear unless the top is off. Probably 11-11:30 on the gain is safer for extreme bass tracks at max volume.
@firebirdn3027 күн бұрын
Nice review thank you, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on whether the Sub2 would be as compatible with the S1Pro+ or overkill and would it be worth the extra cost? With Regard to your dislike of the Sub1 flat format, you could always stand it up with the S1 on a conventional stand.
@WWeiss-nv5vz3 күн бұрын
Sub 2 is a mismatch with the S1's. You have to turn down the gain of the Sub2 to 10:30 or it will over power the tops. waste of money. If you play live kick drum or bass guitar or heavy bass content- Hip Hop /Rap at high volume then Sub2 performs 2X the Sub1.

Yes, I play acoustic and Roland e-Drums. This combination is great for home use or very small gigs under 50 people. My live rig is a single QSC K8.2 over the Bose Sub2. For output and realistic kick drum thump the Sub 2 is a huge step up from the Sub1!

Hi Bill, thanks for all your valuable insights. I’d appreciate your opinion on the Maui 5 Go vs the Bose Compact. I have a Compact and like the battery flexibility of the Maui 5 Go and was wondering how it compares sound wise to the Compact. Many thanks in advance.
@WWeiss-nv5vz4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback. To be honest, haven't A/B ed them in a very long time. Maui 5 has a superior high end, Bose has your typical rolled off highs that sounds like someone threw a blanket over the speaker. Bass is about equal between the two. Maui is nice because it has separate gain control for the sub section.kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYTaZGWDmqyplZI

Hi Bill, I'm a big fan of your videos specially if your doing on Bose speakers. I think you you can remove or reduce the bass from the s1pro+ if you engaged the sub EQ mode on the s1pro+ which is an additional good feature not on the previous s1 if I'm not wrong. . Continue to make more informative Bose videos ;) cheers!

@WWeiss-nv5vz11 күн бұрын
Two S1Pros is an excellent system but you can't compare good bass response from a 6 inch speaker to a 480 watt subwoofer. Adding the sub is NEXT level full range performance.

I bought a pair of S1 Pros, and I'm debating between sub1 and sub2. What do you think? Which sub should I go with?
@WWeiss-nv5vz4 күн бұрын
Sub1 is the better match. With the Sub2 to integrate with S1's I had to turn down the gain of the Sub2 to 10:00. A waste of money. Now if you are running kick drum or bass guitar through it or extreme bass tracks Hip Hop/Rap then Sub2 makes a noticeable difference.

Hi there. On the sub 1 is there a reason why you didn't enable the S1 Pro feature on the HPF so it's green? Or does that setup have to go through a mixer?

I just grabbed a pro 16 and it sounds good so I’m going to add a second one. I do weddings and I have been using S1pro and now pro plus for a while and I’m thinking for larger rooms tossing one in the back and running my wireless receiver to it. There is zero latency with that system so I’m not worried there. I’m just thinking to get some extra bass pumping through since the pro 16’s are replacing two k12’s and 2 18” subs. Is that overkill or think it will make a huge difference adding a sub one and pro plus on top and throwing it at the far end of the room to fill in the back a little.
@WWeiss-nv5vzАй бұрын
Pro 16 = Sub1 performance. You must miss those 18" canons? Bose Sub2 will get you close. Sub1/Pro Plus will be great for fill.
@djerniet35020 күн бұрын
@@WWeiss-nv5vz Yep the s1pro+ is great for fill, I use mine for that when I run the QSC k12 and kw118 system. I run it all through my cq12t mixer and I just adjust the volume on them lower when the dancing starts. I run them and my subs through AUX out. So they are basically being used like monitors. I run them wireless and I do not have to worry about power.

If S1Pro Plus use XLR to XLR. If Legacy S1Pro - from Aux out of top 1/4" TRS to male XLR or 1/4" TRS to 1/4" TRS.

Everse 8 is great! viewer comment: Compared to Everse 8, Bose S1Pro Plus does not sound as loud, but with higher fidelity in reproducing small nuances. Bose is more accurate and musical. Everse is more assertive, punchy and creates more rumble. Moreover, the difference in sound accuracy is also noticeable at low volumes for the room. All this is a pure comparison without tones and equalizers. Due to their presence in Everse 8 (two 7-band graphic and parametric), it wins. Suitable for any working conditions in any room or outdoors. If you wish and know how to use equalizers, you can customize any sound to suit your taste. Bose has no equalizers, just regular bass/treble tone. But out of the box at normal volume it sounds more pleasant to the ear (at least for my personal one), more natural than Everse 8.

Hi! Question! If the Bose S1Pro Plus is turned off and 100% charged. After a while, disconnect it from the power supply. Then after 24 hours it will discharge by 2%. The next time you turn on the speaker in the Bose Music app, it will be 98% charged. I bought a new column at the end of July 2024. Firmware 3.3.0. I did not immediately pay attention to the self-discharge. Now I have specifically tracked the time and want to find out if other owners of the Bose S1 Pro plus have such a phenomenon or not. Thanks!
