Thank you very much for the video! It worked out for me too! I just removed the "linkage" and the system now is working with 220V power without problem. It took me like 10 minutes for the conversion.

Glad you found it useful. You would be well advised to fit the protection varistors on the main reservoir capacitors.

I have a sounddock10 from my back in Japan. The voltage is 100v, and the voltage in China is 220v. I have always used a conversion transformer. It is not convenient to prepare to modify it according to your tutorial. Thank you very much for sharing.

This is amazing. Such a small change to the circuit. Would this possibly apply to other Bose products? I have a 110V Accoustimas subwoofer and would like to convert it to 240V. Do you have any suggestions?
@razenby Жыл бұрын
If it is a semiconductor switched-mode power supply then it is easy to convert. If the Accoustimass is a transformer based power supply you will need to change the transformer.

Please can you use resistor in place for the varistors ? If yes what type of resistor?
@razenby2 ай бұрын
No don't try it. A Varistor is a protection device that starts to conduct current when the voltage rises above the rated working voltage. A resistior will conduct all the time regardless of voltage and will dissipate heat and provide no protection.

I have only used my Bose soundtouch 30 about 5 times since I purchased it, few years back. I tried to set it up but unfortunately it is not switching on. I live in the UK and would like to get it looked at or repaired. If someone has contact information of any repair service, please can you post a link on here. would be much appreciated.

Yes that is safe so long as you do not have the universal version. (i.e. 110 to 230VAC)

Need to convert soundtouch 30 from 110v to 220v will the same method work or is there a change ? Pls guide .. thx 😊
@razenby5 ай бұрын
Yes, the schematic of the power section is the same. There is a resistor that passes the start up voltage connected to D501 (from memory). It is a different value on the 220V version. It needs to be increased. If a 5A fuse is fitted (not all are) the amp rating of the main fuse needs to be reduced to 4A . Thanks for watching.

Awesome resource! Thanks for sharing 👍 Regarding the SoundTouch10 ... I was hoping to find an appropriate point on the board to replace the DC voltage from the power supply with a direct 12V DC feed. ('Leisure vehicle' voltage 😃) As a 30W device it's theoretically possible but do you know whether the board runs at 12V or some other voltage? Thanks!
@razenby3 жыл бұрын
24V DC @ 2.4 amps max across the DC smoothing capacitor . That is the blue capacitor that stands through the metal can. You can see it when the can is fitted. You might have a problem as the switching of the frequency and phase of the Switch mode is synchronised with the class D audio power amp circuitry linked by a small signal transformer and its associated circuity. . I have never tried it - maybe it will free run OK with just 24V DC,

Could you pease explain how to make 110 volt to 220 V conversion for Bose Wave Radio model AWR1G1. Right now I am using a 230 V to 110 V step down transformer to power the radio. I may well NOT use the this step down transformer and use 230 V input directly if you would let me know how to convert the board to use 240 V instead of 110 V. Thanks.
@razenby Жыл бұрын
You can't as the Bose wave radio has a transformer based power supply. I don't believe that it has a 230V primary winding. If anyone knows any different then please let me know..
@razenby Жыл бұрын
Any switch-mode power supply can be changed from 110 to 230V operation. However I believe most wave radios have a large transformer which is wound to for a fixed primary voltage.

you need a repair to replace all the semiconductors on the power supply side and probably the 2 big caps B+ too . Contact me if you want it done. I can convert it for 220-240v operation too whilst I am at it.

What of varistors type?
@razenby Жыл бұрын
For conversion from 1120 to 230V mains operation you need 200VDC working varistors such as Bournes PV 150 K 3225. www.mouser.co.uk/datasheet/2/54/pv_series-1825431.pdf Note any reasonable sized varistor with 150K somewhere in the part number should be 200V DC working. Just check the datasheet of what you buy.

Repair price is normally fixed. However an overvoltage may be subject tp an additional £35 charge of the major components have been blown by the over voltage, See www.invebo.com/sounddock10 section. All details are there.

@razenby5 жыл бұрын
No sorry, I tooled a replacement lightning connector for the III but when I did the snap-off test bad handling test as was done with the old 30 pin parts, the dock lightning connector broke but so did the iPhone socket so I canned it. I know they are hard to get hold of. The arrangement seemed like a bad idea.

Sir. Actually i don’t have k150. Can we change with 10D471?

No. The 471 is a 27V AC working so it wont protect the caps. You need 200 V DC varistors.

Hello, your videos are fantastic, in my case I have a sounddock 10 the part number of my card is 322642-0010, from what I see in your video mine is for 110 and 220 V, in Chile we operate with 220V, my problem is that one of the varistors is destroyed, it has the number 4032 k150 0925 and I can't get it on the market, which one can I use? I also have to change the T4A 392 fuse, apart from that I have to change something else, all the other components look perfect. Thank you
@razenby3 жыл бұрын
The K150 varistor is the key. the type is the K number. that one is a 150V AC varistor. (just type K150 varistor into google). Get one the same diameter that it will be the same power rating. Usually when the varistor is fried the board has been seriously over-voltaged, so you will need to check to see if the FET drive transistors are shorted etc.etc...
