Hi I love your videos, few minutes ago I got soundock 10 which was working at my friends house but he forgot to tell me it’s 110 voltage, I plugged in to direct power which is 240 volts, I removed the power module but didn’t know if it was the fuse or something, please can you assist me on what to change on the board or if I can ship it to you so you return me back a 240 volts power module, I will pay for all 🙏🙏

Thanks. You can get is serviced and converted at ww.invebo.com in the sounddock 10 section. They service and modify the power modules every day. The over-voltage will have damaged/stressed many components that need to be changed so there may be an additional £20 charge to the standard repair fee as the main caps and the extent of the damage means there is a lot more cost to invebo than a standard repair.. You get a three year warranty.

Hi mate Got one in and I took it apart tested the mosfets all seem ok .. put it back together and it turned on … after an hour tried to power up but just won’t turn on again … am not as good as you … your knowledge is incredible 👍… any pointers as what I should be looking at Cheers

Could be a number of causes. They get tired.We have serviced hundreds of these modules and we just change all the chips, power transistors, shottky diodes and electrolytic capacitors on the switch mode power supply supply circuit.

Hi, thanks for video. I have a Bose SoundDock 10 powered speaker with a damaged power supply. I have voltage in the high voltage part but the low voltage part only gives me 1 volt. I don't get voltage at the output. I have changed several components following the manufacturer's scheme but I still have no results. I changed the Q500 and Q501 mosfet transistors, which are the ones that supply power to the T502 transformer. I have also changed the U504 and U505 ICs and the C515 capacitor. The current reaches the transistor Q501 and the resistors that follow it, but I have no voltage on the secondary of the transformer, nor on the integrated circuits U504 and U505. At this point I am confused. Is it possible that the schmitt trigger U506 and the transistor Q509 are the cause of the current not going through this part?

There are any number of issues and components that can fail that cause the supply not to run. We at invebo repair them nearly every day. You need to change all the ICs, signal diodes, check the diode in the bootstrap supply and all the low value resistors. My operator strips off all active components off and repopulates with new, then and invariably the board works afterwards. The trouble is that you don't know what has been stressed or aged so a sticking plaster repair is unlikely to serve for very long. We give a 1 yes warranty but never get any back. I am happy do yours if you can send it into us. No dock is left behind!! Use Infineon FETs. (IER and Fairchild are now Infineon too). Don't use Chinese 7N60s

Hola te felicito por tus videos, tengo un sounddock 10 y no enciende, saque la placa fuente de alimentación y me di cuenta que esta quemado o mas bien destruido un componente de la parte trasera, tiene el numero 4032 K150 0925, aparentemente es un Varistor, intento buscar en google y no logro encontrar el mismo, ¿con que componente debiera reemplazar?, ¿será tan simple como reemplazar eso?, a simple vista no se ve ningún otro daño, todo se ve impecable. hola, el varstor que se ha quemado es para el protector de red 110VAC. La tensión de red ha subido demasiado para la fuente de alimentación. Simplemente busque el varistor K150 en la web y podrá encontrar muchos reemplazos disponibles gratuitamente. Simplemente elija uno que tenga el mismo diámetro (Diámetro == potencia nominal). Es posible que su controlador no haya sobrevivido, dependiendo de la duración y el nivel de la sobretensión. Una manera fácil de hacerse una idea es inspeccionar cuidadosamente los condensadores grandes de 250 V junto al varistor para detectar cualquier signo de abultamiento en la parte superior. Si la superficie superior de aluminio se eleva al máximo, AMBOS deben volver a colocarse. A continuación, mida los dos FET de potencia: uno está parcialmente debajo de un marco metálico del disipador de calor y el otro no está cubierto en absoluto. Verifique con un multímetro configurado para dar continuidad directa de diodos para ver si alguno de los cables del transistor lee un cortocircuito en cualquier otro cable del mismo dispositivo. Si obtiene una lectura cercana a 0 V entre cualquiera de los dos cables, entonces el controlador necesita que se cambien muchos componentes. I have a Sounddock 10, Makes the two tones when connected to the mains then after seating my ipod the charge graphic shows then goes to the music. As soon as I press play it plays for 2 seconds then shuts down. This isn't a dock problem as it does the same thing when connected to Aux. This Sounddock worked great until there was a power cut. After the power was restored this problem arose.

You have a power board supply issue. It cant provide the oomphf. Send it in for a diagnostic test. See video on invebo.com Website in the tech guides section.

I live in Spain and to send anything to the uk is complicated and expensive. I recently sent my Quad amp for a service. Nobody was willing to send it (DHL,FEDEX Etc.,) I had to send it through an agency which was expensive plus import duties, and it took three weeks to get there.@@razenby

used to repaired this power board last year by changing the Q500,Q501 and other around stuff, it worked well then,but here comes to a new problem to it these days.I can hardly hear anything with regular volume from aux,if I turn it up ,then it would be little music with strong electicity humming sound.Which part should be checked? You need to check that you can pull 1A at a steady 23.7 to 24.5V from the supply to C521, Cant be repaired just by changing the Q500, Q501 FETs. Not going to be good. Need to change Chips U504 ,U505, U506, U503 and Check / Change: D506, R530, R500, Z500, R527, R528, D504, D505.

Hi boss, I don’t know whether my case can be discussed here or not, but after 14 years of incredible rock in roll songs in my soundock 10, it simply started to flash both lights (iPod and AUX). As this occurs, no connection is possible in either direction. I’m really sad with this because this equipment had always a great care. Any suggestion or comment would be helpful. Grettings

Could be the power module or the sound processor. That is is a difficult one to diagnose remotely as the flashing can be caused by several faults. Best check the easy causes first: I advise you take it apart and unplug and re-plug the ribbon cables. They can suffer from oxide build-up on the contacts. Re-plugging wipes them clean and solves a lot of problems. Also check for any corrosion or liquid ingress.

AMIGO MUY BUENAS TARDES SALUDOS TENGO UN BOSE SoundDock 10, el problema que tiene es que no enciende, destape el modulo principal en busca de algún signo de avería y lo que pude notar en la placa de circuitos es que el integrado 3100D2 98T CJZ2, que esta cerca del capacitor de 35V, 3300 Uf, se ve una de sus pines quemado, quisiera saber si esta podría ser la falla de que no encienda y si es así, tendría que cambiarlo?? le agradezco su ayuda muchas gracias. desde Venezuela.

Sí, una sobrecorriente en el amplificador no producirá energía. Es posible que deba cambiar el chip LM5021-2 (controlador PWM) ya que no toleran la situación de arranque por sobrecorriente. Además, si tiene un 33uf junto al blick del transformador al final del condensador azul de 100n, cámbielo por un 47uF 35V, el chip TP ahora está obsoleto pero todavía está disponible en www.aliexpress.com. Buena suerte.

On this model I specialise in the repair the power module but do not accept complete systems for repair. If you reckon that the power module is faulty then send them to me for a diagnostic check. You can order it on the Invebo website us the Sounddock 10 option the power mdules are virtually identical..

Hi, I have a Bose Soundock 10 that I love and it works perfectly well apart from a) I need to move the iPod/BT adaptor to get music - possibly a dry joint/bad connection between the dock and the BT adaptor/iPod and the main board and b) there is too much bass - it sounds amazing when the volume level is low, but as soon as it's cranked up a bit - the bass just falls apart and the sound output is awful - would you have tips for fixing both of the above - like you I hate good kit going to landfill - thanks in advance.

Clean you docking connector with a clean toothbrush dampened in ispopropyl alcohol . Do the same to your iPod's and your Bluetooth adapters docking connector. Also remove the docking module and clean the sprint connector under the docking module. (see invebo.com for diagnostic video on the SoundDock 10). If you still have a bad connection then you need to get a new 30-pin dock connector fitted to your dock module. Ensure that the module is clipped and stays fully down. Sometimes the steel clip works loose and the dock module is not held down onto the spring connector. Bad bass audio is rare. Remove and inspect the bass driver speaker. You may need to replace it.

I assume yours a 110V model?? You have most likely blown many components in the power module. Invebo.com will service it for you. If it is any consolaton the docks are getting to age where some components are aging which affect the power module. They are all renewed during the repair and service.

Been thinking about getting a Sounddock 10 or Soundtouch 20. Since as far as I know, the 3 drivers(2 mid-high, 1 subwoofer) inside the original Sounddock 10 are very similar if not exactly the same as those in the newer Soundtouch 30, so the old Sounddock 10 seems to be an economic option for me, because theoretically it would sound almost the same to Soundtouch 30 but at lower price as the mid-range Soundtouch 20. I've been watching lots of your repairing videos recently and start wondering whether or not this Sounddock 10 system is too old to be owned or it just has its own design failures ???

They are pretty reliable but some need servicing. The processor cards can be a problem but the power board that normally fails is serviceable and reliable afterwards. They do no do well when there are power surges. Lots of calls from Texas now after the power issues they experienced recently ( Feb 2021) many did not come back on.

Hola, no es un problema común que tengas. ¿Es el comportamiento repetible? A veces, cuando la fuente de alimentación tiene dificultades para funcionar cuando el voltaje de la fuente de alimentación cae (fluctúa), la base se corta. ¿Funciona correctamente la base a un volumen alto durante este tiempo o falla cuando el volumen aumenta a un nivel alto? Además, si aún no ha intentado ejecutar desde una entrada de entrada de línea de cable (auxiliar), hágalo. La falla que describe es típica de un problema con el conector de la base.

@@razenby muchas gracias x responderme.. ya lo probé con cable auxiliar y el problema persiste ya teme el tiempo preciso y casi en 30 min la bocina se apaga. Y la conecte a un volumen del 30% y solo duró 30 minutos y ya no quiso prender.. y tube q dejar q se enfriara para volver a prenderlo .. ay algún lugar donde puede llevar la bocina a arreglar? Yes we do and yes they do. the full potential of the dock was unleashed only last year, My company repairs modules from all over the planet. I designed a 24-bit HD Bluetooth direct digital interface from the dock of the SD10. Bose coded in support for the 24-bit 48Khz HD Bluetooth (Aptx hd) but never got around to release product that supported it. Forget what you know about how the 10 dock sounds taking miserable compressed input from an ipod or a 16-bit Bluetooth 2.0 codec. With 256 times the resolution a and dynamic range of 16-bit you can hear the musicians rustling their music sheets. Symbols no longer sound like a disapproving vicar shushing you, now they ring and ting like they are supposed to. Drummer sounds like they are in the room. Notes and content is much richer and detailed. If a new speaker could match the performance of the 10 it cost over a $1000 and probably would not be repairable.

I have Soundock 10 with multiple issues. Though it still works, but i am guess its heading towards it death. Issue 1 - There is a humming sound once the unit is powered on through remote. Does not appear to come from the speakers but definitely from somewhere within. Is that common? Issue 2 - Iphone 4s connected to the 30 pin connector dock - connects and plays well, but withing few minutes, cracking and popping sounds take over and its loud. Issue 3. Since the 30 min dock direct connection does not work for long, i shifted to the AUX capability, and here too, the sound stops and i have to click on the Aux on the remote within few seconds or minutes to get the sound back ...... Any insight would help . Regards

It sounds very much like you have an incipient fault on the power board. Make sure there is no burning - also change the mains lead it could be a bad cable.

I can't believe that the power supply section of this unit is so complex! How many different voltage does this unit needs to run? I was thinking if I can't repair the power supply section, I can build an external SMPS or linear unit to power this thing.

Power supplies start out simple and then it is necessary to design the simplicity out f them to make them half-way reliable. Unfortunately high voltage power components are subject to bad batched and substandard manufacturing. Why not just watch Parts 1,2,3 & 4 of the detailed videos and buy the $6 of components and fix it? All the info you need for the component level repair is in the videos on this channel.

Check the wiring. Measure the woofer voice coil resistance should be between 3 and 5 ohms. If open circuit then inspect the connection of the woofer. Sometimes they crack or the carrier wire fractures. Solder it back on and BOOM. If the driver is OK then the amp chip has blown.

Hello, my SoundDock 10 turns off when I raise the volume and powers back on a couple of seconds after.

Usual cause (not always) Power supply fault check the vale of C515 is still 100n. Also the vibration can cause a bad connection on the iPod dock. Check that the dock still cuts out when the signal is coming in the rear AUX input.

Ok I have tried LCSC but cant find for instance the capacitor marked Z111 494502 - the 400V 104nF you describe as an X9. I am looking for all the components you describe as high stress to be replaced while servicing. You mention in the video you had put up a BOM for these items but I don't see it, however two of the videos in this playlist are unavailable . . . was it attached to those? Any help here pointing me in the right direction at least on the above cap would be greatly appreciated.

If you replace any generic components on this module you technically shorted the life span, i have 5 unit of this bose sounddock 10, it took me 1 weeks to figured it out why suddenly the unit dead.
