BOSE SOUNDLINK COLOR II FIX!! *NOT POWERING ON * NOT CHARGING*

Instructions:
1) connect the speaker to power
2) press and hold the multifunction button for 10 seconds...keep holding down the button but remove the power/charge cord after the 10 seconds
3) release the multifunction button
4) reconnect to power
In May I bought my Soundlink Color 2, worked great until August and then when I would charge it nothing would happen. No power, and no charge light indicators. I searched on KZbin, found nothing, then went to Google and found this from someone who works at Bose:
Let's reboot the system's processor. Even though its powered off, the system maintains a level of standby power. This removes all power and reboots the system.
Connect the speaker to power again. Press and hold the Multi-function button for 10 seconds. While continuing to hold the button, unplug the speaker from power. Then release the Multi-function button.
Re-connect it to power.
We understand you made sure the software was up-to-date. Could you confirm you did it through a computer and checked with the Bose updater found here? (Link: btu.bose.com)
I don't think the suggestion worked for me so I kept reading and someone suggested the same thing BUT instead of holding down the Multi-function button hold down the Power button, following the same steps above.
All the sudden my charging light came on!! Bam!!

Thanks for the video. It worked for me. The 10 seconds holding the multifunction button did not work until I connect the speaker to my PC. When I connect the speaker to the PC the computer identified the speaker and installed some drivers automatically. After that the speaker came back alive again. So to recover from this I recommend to connect to the computer, not to a charger.

For me it was just holding down the 3 dots button continuously, USB cable plugged into mains charging, plug into Bose USB port for 10 seconds, unplug, replug for 10 seconds, unplug, repeat until it starts charging (flashing red power light) while plugged in. The video technique got the Soundlink to power on (bt light flashing, but no noise or voice) before single flash of power, bt and aux light and powering down with no recharge.

Seems to happen to me when the battery drains fully. I leave it plugged in and only after 10 minutes or so will the charging light turn on. Shame this seems to be a design flaw as so many others are having the same issue

Great advice! Thank you. Tried holding power button down for 20 seconds on my Sony wireless speaker while plugged up to power source. I unplugged while still holding power button down next plugged back in and now she's good to go. Hallelujah! It pays to keep researching until you find the solution. Thanks for uploading this.

I had the same problem, thanks a lot!! It worked!! Mine didn’t charge, and when I plugged it in, the yellow light appeared but then stopped, and three lights flashed, on/off Bluetooth and aux. I did the 10 second three dot button then disconnect from power while pushing the button and then plug it in again without stoping pushing. It worked perfectly, it have never happened and I have two months with my sound link color 2!

mine worked with the multi function button: -Hold multifuction button 5-10 seconds -Plug into power source/computer while holding -release multifunction button Your device should power on. If this doesn't work try it a few different ways it will work. The multifunction button is the three dot button btw!

complete life saver, the multifunction button solution was what booted mine up, i plugged it into my MacBook and held it for 10 seconds and while it was still plugged in it made the start up sound and started charging again

It worked! I followed all the steps you have said, even the ones related to the multi function button. I think it might be the combo because I tried just the power button before and it didn't work. So I tried multi function button first, unplugged then the power button and it work. I didn't do any update to the speaker and I know it was not updated because I have not done that for over a year.

if you have the SoundLink Mini I system, please try resetting it to see if that helps. A system reset can be accomplished by pressing and holding the Mute button for 10 seconds. The LEDs should then flash briefly. Try turning the system back on by pressing the Power button!!

Garbage product. I bought the Soundlink Color ii in 2021 and it immediately needed a firmware update using the Bose updater. After the update it only will charge if plugged into an Apple Mac computer. It will not charge any other way even when using the supplied cable plugged into a wall adapter. FRUSTRATING! After I let the power completely die before charging again it will no longer power on when plugged into the mac. It will only light up the orange light once and go dead again. The same trick is not working this time and after many unsuccessful attempts over a month of trying to get it to work I threw it in the garbage where it belongs. I'm very tech savvy and this was a pain in the ass to get to work right out of the box. The average person would not be able to figure this out and give up long before I did.

Piece of junk, breaks quickly, allows you to resend it, getting another, stops working in less than a month, customer service runs you around with updates that do not work until you give up, can barely speak english at service center on second contact. Sent it back to Mass office where even though they received per tracking must have just tossed it in the trash- No customer service POS Product. Great sound but over $100 for 2 months of frustration!!!! Never buying Bose ever.

It worked finally. I did it like that: 1.unplug 2.press power +plug in while still pressing power 3. Keep plugged in for10-15sec while still pressing power 4. Unplug +stop pressing power 5. Plug in, light will flash 6. Press power It should charge now+1hr later when it's almost fully charged repeat steps+it should stay on now

Nothing worked until.. press and held power and multi function together. That’s the button between the volume up and down. Held them together 15 sec multiple times. And she started charging. Hold, plug-in, cont hold 15 sec, take out cable, Release buttons. Took multiple attempts. First I plugged into laptop and updated firmware to 3.05 I think was the software version

I'm really sad. I tried the methods 15 times each with the power, multifunction and bluetooth button on laptop and directly on wall brick but none worked. I'm really sure the battery of my soundlink revolve is not yet dead. When i plug it in it looks like its charging but when i power it on, it doesn't. Even the firmware update through their updater site did not work though it says it was successfully updated. 😭

Huge thumbs up. Could get anything to work, but the power button connected to MacBook Pro thingy worked. From power outlet and my windows computer it wouldn't. Not sure why the Mac made a difference here.

What a piece of crap this speaker is! I've probably had a dozen BT speakers and this is the first time I've had one die on me and then to see all the ridiculous things people have had to do to get it to work again. Mine still doesn't work, but the person who tried 6 times b4 it worked gives me hope! NEVER buying another Bose product again. Their website is useless when it comes to addressing this issue. Thanks for the video! Looks like you've helped a lot of people, and I'm still hopeful mine will come back to life.

This method does not work for me, either trying with the power button. Please enter to btu.bose.com/ and after: 1. Plugin the speaker with the charger cable BOSE to PC 2. Follow the instruction of the page, if required download the app do it. The page recognizes the speaker when you plug in, take like 10 mins to complete the upload in the speaker. Hope works for you.

If you’re having the dead battery issue just press and hold these 3 buttons ( AUX / + / - ) at the same time while it’s plugged in until the orange light starts blinking and Voila- it’s charging!!

The first Bose speaker I had lasted for years was fantastic. I bought one and it wouldn't charge so I returned it. The new one also doesn't charge it also turns on automatically on itself if I'm walking by with my cell phone which is kind of creepy. I shouldn't have to plug it into a computer to charge it. How are you supposed to travel with it if you need a computer to plug it in to charge. It should automatically be able to charge in any wall socket

Yea I've tried everything as well times 1000, made absolutely no errors. Tried like 20 different methods each carefully. I probably need a battery.. I used a samsung fast charge block on it so my guess is it's not the battery died but the port for charging itself or something else.

I had the same problem of it not charging. After trying several different wall chargers, I got some briefly flashing lights that would stop flashing but still would not charge. I read on a Bose support page saying to turn the unit on and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. That made no sense as the unit would not power on in the first place. Finally I got the idea to plug the speaker into my running MacBook Pro and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Then the speaker began to charge. I wonder if the problem is the fact I use the speaker until it stops working. From now on when the voice on the speaker says to attach to a charger, I will do that.

I attempted this, go the voice prompts and the speaker to turn on, it connected to device, but then immediately powered own. I have to keep going thru the process, with the device continuously turning off again seconds after it powers on, only to have to rinse, wash, and repeat. I can't get bose speaker to stay powered on or stay active.....pleading for help here.

I've tried this method and the multifunction button like 50 times. Never worked. I checked my phone app and it says my device is up to date. I was so hopeless then i decided to go to bose system update center and download the updater. I ran it and it still says that my device was up to date which frustrated me even more but I tried 3 more times this method, power button 10 secs off and then replug and it made the start up tone and I was so happy. Though seriously, bose had fucked up with this one product. Like for real.

Well I did the steps in your video and got the power light to blink on and off however when I press the power button or any of the other buttons nothing happens. Then when I unplug the cable the power button stops flashing. I know it can't be on low batter9y because I just used this thing 30 minutes ago and it said battery high. Not sure what else to try.

Using a different combination of plugs and cables worked for me. Some cables and USB does not always have enough voltage.

Get a NEW cable...some of the cheap ones will not work due to age and poor connection....it worked for us.
