Very unbiased review, i really appreciate this, Allan! There was the proper presentation of the actual performance unlike other reviews that just because one is louder and has more base its better already. I listen to mostly classical and soft jazz, mainstream jazz and opera. So as you mentioned, depending on the genre of music you listen too that should choose accordingly.

After watching other reviews between these 2 speakers it seemed like everyone’s view was that the tribit was heaps better, thank you for your in detail review and quality recording techniques. The sound of the bose to me is much smoother and the warmth works better for a speaker of that size. I have 2 bose micros and can definitely say they rock for their size being able to have a wide stereo separation while camping etc. For home I have 2 x anker motion plus but having the ability to keep these bose in my camera bag at all times is so handy

Good review! All the other reviews I watched with sound comparisons, these two sounded VERY close. But in this review, the Bose sounded clearly better to me! So that’s useful data for me. Honestly the fact that the Bose is usb-micro though makes it hard for me to pick up… I feel like Bose has to have an updated micro coming up soon maybe hopefully? :p

This fellow Alan Ross is levels above the rest. THIS is how you do a review. Most others half-ass it. I'm sure this took a long time, and much effort. You are greatly appreciated. 22:10 Great song. Bose makes it sound like it's coming out of a metal tube. Fake. Tribit sounds much better on this song. Request: Since podcasts are so popular now. Be nice if you showed how speakers handle speaking voice. Use a newscaster who has an annoying high pitch voice. And see which speaker makes her sound most tolerable. On this, Bose would win. Since it lacks detail. Which is sometimes good. All in all, the Tribit is best.

As someone who has a pair of both bose and tribit micros the bose gets less impressive while the tribit becomes more impressive the higher you turn them up. For low levels on the bose the hyped bass and treble are pleasant. For going out on the go the tribit wins though and is more flexible and it's common you'll need to turn up the volume when you're outside so tribit wins for me. The tribit also has much better sounding compression, more power and clean sound near max while the bose completely falls apart and starts to sound very squishy and lots of inter modulation distortion. It's hard to catch in this video.

I like this little speaker. I’m glad you’re showing it some love. I’ve had it for a couple months now and it preforms great. Balanced and clear. It keeps me company on my bike rides, usually 4 or 5 times a week. I attach it to the top tube close to the handle bar so when I’m leaning over the speaker is pointed directly at me 😊. Usually I have the volume hovering between 60 to 80 percent depending on how loud my environment is. Only once have I had it at max and that was because I was dealing with insanely loud traffic. With that said this speaker plays loud for its size. Before getting the Tribit StormBox Micro I was eyeing the Bose SoundLink Micro for the longest... What prevented me from copping was price. Even on sale, 20% off, I still couldn’t justify paying... Needless to say I was happy when Tribit announced their version. I have all of Tribit’s speakers and I’ve never been disappointed, and I knew that would be the same case with this speaker. I have to say though that even though the form factor is extremely similar between the 2 I actually prefer the aesthetics of the BSM slightly more. You can tell visually that the Bose is a more durable speaker. Looks more premium too. Ok, with all that said, folks should definitely cop the TSM. Especially if you’re an avid bike rider like myself. Battery is slightly underwhelming but besides that it’s a really good speaker. Its 30 - 50% cheaper than the Bose but with that don’t pay over $40 for it.

Bose technology has always tried to go first, but the results have not always been the best, especially when you have a lot of competition that many times even copies your products. With all that said and knowing that the bose brand is expensive, I must say that I have two bose speakers: a soundlink micro and a soundlink revolve and even though they don't sound perfect I think they have a more than acceptable sound, very good basses for its sizes. They have some Plus that it has been difficult for me to find in other brands: 1) quality of materials and termination 2) connection stability for one speaker or pairing in stereo or party mode 3) function that allows activating the speaker without pressing buttons, this function is great, i really love it. So I could say that you spend money for these speakers but you get a comprehensive product. Updated comment: I use iOS and my Bose speakers work perfectly with Siri to give it an instruction and wait for its response, as well as to receive calls. I have the soundcore motion plus that sounds really excellent but doesn’t work correctly with Siri: lower the volume of Siri voice or simply Siri's voice does not emit from my cell phone or the speaker

@@alanrossreviews I have set up my Tribit's like this : clear bass +5 400hz - 2 1khz - 1 2.5khz - 1 16khz +3 And now the key role as always is the placement. Kitchen window cell about 80 degrees and I getting nice full, rich sound, ideal for normal background listening level. Few weeks ago I took them to the beach and attached them to the two pols, spread about a meter apart and about meter from me. Even with the wind noise they were able to fill the space with full bodied sound. Personally I hate Bose for what they are. Generaly the brand. They never tell us the specs because as they where doing things from the beginning, they are taking average parts and crank them up to get that wow factor. Rest is just a aggressive marketing and a premium price tag so the consumers can satisfy their desires for luxury.

For the price of one Bose Micro you could buy two Tribit Micros and pair them. Then the Tribits'll be louder ánd produce a wide soundstage.. Also, the much lower price of the Tribit makes it a smaller risk of damaging or loosing it when you take it outdoors (these are very compact and portable so ideal for taking it with you). Interesting comparison. You can tell that Bose tunes their speakers more with a psychogical approach, by tuning them to sound 'warm and nice', instead of more 'honest and clear'..

interesting comment 😋 for me the sounds are different enough that it comes down to your personal sound preference. they both do a decent job but yes, one is half the price of the other. however for those that like a warm sound and still want a micro size then i guess they would still go bose. neither are that honest and clear but i would say tribit is more neutral and revealing.

Hi Alan - Have you noticed any quality variation between the same Bose models? I lost my beloved UE Roll 2 and have been on a quest for the best-sounding/most durable speaker that I can strap to myself/my backpack when I go hiking. I've noticed wild sound (and even weight) variations between speakers of the same model. I've looked into firmware, but my hunch is that there are A (review-quality) production lines/factories, and B-lines that mass produce models within acceptable testing/performance ranges. JBL seems to be very consistent, and even UE, but I've had Bose Micros that sound like crap, and those that others that sound magical. My guess is that either Bose is using several component suppliers, and the suppliers are sending the best-quality samples to Bose for evaluation and then shipping the quality-variant products. I've seen the same with Apple MacBook Pros in 2012-2013 (Samsung vs LG displays). I'm surprised that people who buy pairs of Bose speakers for stereo mode don't notice the variance in sound profile. Right now, I'm keeping the Bose Soundlink Orange speaker from Best Buy that sounds glorious, and sending the one back from Amazon that sounds blah. Side-by-side, there is clearly a difference in performance and sound profile. I've tried Bose Micro speakers from Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and Walmart, and I'm certain they are are all official Bose products. It's been disappointing because some Bose speakers are amazing, and sound dull, flat, and un-balanced. Any thoughts? Thank you so much for your in-depth, scientific, and thorough reviews and comparisons!
