Well that sucks. I have own a Bose q35(I not II), and I got a firmware update a couple of months back. I realised right away that the noise cancelling wasn’t as powerful as when I first got them. The reason I got them(used) was because of the superior *noise cancelling*, and they got rid of that after the firmware update. It’s wasn’t worth the price anymore, so I’m giving them to my dad.

@bpjbp5 жыл бұрын
This update has been out for little more than a month now. Bose has only said that they didn't change anything with ANC in the firmware, and that they can't duplicate the issue. They have requested certain users to send in their "broken" headphones for testing. As of 1-2 weeks ago, they said that they received only one (1) from users (even though many users had said that they sent in theirs) and that it doesn't have an issue even though the former owner swears that it does. Bose has also stop supporting firmware downgrade. They remove any comment that references any other website. So if you post a link to this video, Bose will remove it. Bose has been completely quiet since. They have not taken down the 4.5.2 firmware. In fact, the Connect App keeps pushing it. Yet the reports of ANC degradation keep pouring in. Even if Bose truly didn't deliberately alter ANC, their method of dealing with this has been complete crap.

@64Gianfar5 жыл бұрын
Reverting to from firmware version 4.5.2 to 3.1.8 it's blatantly obvious that the ANC is reduced for some frequencies. What I personally think is that BOSE wants to reduce the "Cabin Pressure" effect as Sony and many others do not have this issue, however to achieve this it also impacts the ANC negatively, hence why BOSE wont admit to any issue. Voices with ANC on high with 4.5.2 is about the same as low with 3.1.8. same source, same environment. I bought the QC35 II for the ANC, BOSE reducing the effectiveness does not impress for one second. What's worse BOSE outright denies any issue, however directly comparing the firmware versions the ANC is clearly reduced, same a DMS illustrates. BOSE could have avoided all this issue by simply allowing it's users to choose the firmware version, personally I don't reward companies for such behaviour so next ANC headphones wont be BOSE.

Exactly let buyers choose, or built in an extra `Preset` for this Cabin Pressure issue. I agree with you Raven

I hadnt updated my qc35 II firmware since mid 2019 but accidentally chose to update it last week after not having used the headphones for several months. Guess what? The active noise cancelling effect is now weaker on bluetooth and if using the headphones without music as ear defenders, but more disturbing is the fact that the ANC controller button doesn't work at all on the wired connection and the ANC effect seems to be fixed in the middle of its 3 positions. If i remove the wired connector all 3 levels of ANC are returned, put it in and 2 of them vanish. How do i go back to the previous update?

Apparently they still haven't fixed the problem (I just checked the bose forum thread for this problem (its currently at 212 pages with new threads and complaints as recent as a few hours ago). I think it's pretty clear by now that Bose intentionally killed the quality of QC35ii noise cancelling to try and force people to move to 700, as in their official thread they still don't give a shit and just ignore people's complaints. I am just wondering if this is proof enough that could stand in court? Could Bose be covered in this scenario ? We could make a short fund raiser that could collect enough money to get a proper lawyer and bring storm upon their asses. I've checked the official Bose forum, where a newbie asked if he should go for 3.0.3 on QC30, and 5 forum members said: No, it will decrease the ANC, to 80%. The 6'th post was from the forum admin, saying that he encourages the upgrade. The guy did the upgrade, then he came back to the post saying that indeed the ANC was decreased, and asked for help from the mod. The same mod who recommended the update, copy pasted a : "please reset your device" answer . I mean this is a tech company ... how are they still in business ? You can't possibly live off a brand name, without giving decent service. Anyhow, who's up for suing Bose ? I am a QC30 user, flying a lot, from office to office, open space offices, etc ... i feel like ANC was the only part of this product that kept me on-board, but with the recent updates, i'll rather switch brands.

The 700 might have been worse at noise cancellation in the few weeks leading up to the initial public release. I believe the older models were downgraded to not hurt the sales of the new product with inferior performance on the primary feature. Things i like: flat and faithful audio response with nearly zero distortion. 2-device sync. doesn't hurt after wearing for many hours. Things i don't like: No way to pump up the bass without lowering treble and overall volume. gets hot and sweaty. oils show up on pads and headband. Noise reduction is ruined. microphone voice quality is still terrible. touch controls have eliminated seek/scrub ability. Rattles when walking fast or running.

@attilab.28184 жыл бұрын
Dan hunter It’s good to have a long warranty. I have had 7 pairs of Sony WH-1000XM3 in 3 months. After the 6th replacement I gave up. There is a different between plastic and plastic and also between built qualities. Doesn’t have to be necessary Bose, just mentioned as there is a QC35II at home as well for instant comparison. But I could also bring up the Sennheisers, the Beats Solo Pro , B&O and Bower & Wilkins headphones. Seriously, XM3s have the worst built I’ve ever used. I have had 7 pairs of Sony WH-1000XM3 so we can’t say I had a faulty pair because it’s not the case. The headband and hinges start creaking, squeaking pretty badly, within a week of usage, like a plastic toy for 5 years olds. I used the latest 4.2.2 firmware with them, and never been impressed with the ANC. Not just one, experienced the same problem with the all 7 pairs. The noise cancellating wasn't better than my Bose QC35 IIs or my N700s...wasn't worse either, but nothing special after the other two. However there is one thing I have to mention. The Sony's ANC was completely useless on public transport, especially when travelling on buses. If the bus hits a pot hole or bump, the ANC suddenly goes off for a second, causing heavy distortion to the music and you can also hear the pothole through the headphone, terrible. So the perfect noise cancelling shouldn’t really be used on a crowded, rattling bus, exactly where it’s supposed to be. Also, the adaptive function is so unreliable, useless. The sensitivity is crap. Sometimes changes to transport or walking node while you've been sitting in a cafe shop for half an hour and didn't move at all. Or just stuck in walking mode even you sat down already and you've been like that for 10-15 minutes. First thing first to turn off this feature as soon as the app got installed. For this pricetag these issues are just simply unacceptable. Not the mention the terrible call quality. If you don’t have any problem with yours it’s good, enjoy them. After the Bose and Sony flagships now I have the Nuraphones. These headphones blow them away. It’s worth to check them out if you like to lose yourself to the music. A very unique, immersive experience.

I returned a new pair of QC35ii because of this update. I picked up a pair of 700s instead and they aren’t all that impressive. I hate that there’s no way to turn off ANC without the app. No way to just use passive isolation without the app. Set one of your 3 favorite ANC settings to 0? That’s actually pass thru sound! Oh and try using them in a recliner and have the swiveling cups and heavy headband conspire to fall of your ears, despite the extra clamping force. Im just sick over Bose.

Has this been fixed by Bose?

I don't think so, they just made a post explaining that they haven't found anything after testing headphones with and without the 4.5.2 firmware, this is the official post: community.bose.com/t5/Around-On-Ear-Headphones/Bose-QC-35-Firmware-4-5-2-Noise-Cancellation-Investigation/m-p/285738#M56820

There is certainly a marked reduction in noise cancellation after upgrade to 3.0.3. This could be a deliberate move to get you to change which is very disappointing. Not expected of Bose. But I guess mobile phone makers are doing so now it's headsets. Welcome to the new wold of cheats.

Andre Tyagi I have two QC35II, both have 4.5.2, the ANC as good as it was before. Serial number “AZ” ending.

Its true. I can confirm. Bose deliberately done for 700 to look good
@attilab.28184 жыл бұрын
Aniket Patil No. I have two pairs of QC35II. Both have 4.5.2 firmware and the ANC as good as it was before. For reverence, also have a Bose NC700 and Sony WH-1000XM3. They re all very similar ANC wise.

The treble is raspy artificial at 5-6khz on qc35, definitely low-consumer-fi. Better option is to go with cans that offer good SQ and decent passive isolation.

I fly enough that the ANC is worth the crappy sound quality for me personally.

Agree with DMS. I’ve been searching for the same for 2 decades but there’s no decent passive isolation workable on planes, trains and buses. Happy to know if you have any suggestions, but for the moment I have to take ANC. My favourite is actually PXC550, though only very moderate ANC, enough to reduce noise rumbles, maintain music tonality (esp bass that washed out in passive isolation) and strike a balance in sound quality, and workable mic. That’s why I always ask myself how much ANC is indeed enough? I have WH-1000XM3, QC35II, HD1, Microsoft, used to have B&W PX, and PXC550 is always my pick going out.

Bose has a long tradition in fooling customers. Selling them (surround) sound systems for hundreds and thousands of bucks consisting if cheap and shitty plastic worth a few bucks only. With today's social media power they shouldn't dare to repeat such evil behaviour.
@DMS3TV5 жыл бұрын
Right! And something as common as ANC shouldn't be tampered with because that's most of what keeps them on the market now especially with all the competition!

Still running 2.0.1 on my QC35ii. No way in hell ill be updating with all of the information out there suggesting that newer firmware version break ANC. Wake up Bose and address this. You can only deny for so long.
