The tool-tip on the left states that top pile is face up and bottom pile is face-down right next to where it says "OK" for future reference!

my all time favorite deck due to the consistent "you did all this mean shit to mess up my hand but Imma just draw the win anyways nerd" winning line lmao

13:12 It tells you in the text box on the left that the top pile is face up. (Haven't watched the whole league yet, maybe you figure this out later.) Btw, this is the _opposite_ of how the same card is presented in the UI on MTG Arena, for maximum muscle memory confusion.

I was thinking that orkish bowmasters could be a cool addition (maybe in the sideboard) to the deck: it grinds vs blue decks, it is removal and kills other bowmasters if you are worried about them and it fuels staffs when it comes in as well.

I feel like the stoneforge/Kaldra package gives three more shots at pulling shuko and some extra win chances against the Bowmaster decks. Not sure I like the storyteller version better. Void rend was an interesting add over one prismatic.

You probably know this and just misspoke in the last game, but casting oracle doesn't take you off the combo. You just need to sacrifice the oracle to cabal therapy before casting the dread return

I’m still doing great with breakfast, but I do not play Staff or Strix. I actually play Bowmasters myself. There is also a lot of people having luck with Yorion breakfast. Also 2ish weeks after LOTR release and Bowmasters and The One Ring have done a lot. So many people are playing it. Do not think it should be banned though.

I only have a scrubland and tundra, how can i tune the mana base for paper? Do i try a different route with basics + back to basics? Or try using 2 esper trilands and mystic sanctuary?
@BoshNRoll

I’d play with basics rather than tap lands

I play with 1 tundra, 1 scrubland and 1 underground sea. 8/9 fetch lands and 1 karakas (because I am a maniac againts Marit lage) and basics. Been working just fine with me. In some point I will get a second tundra... But for now is working and no issues. I play the stoneforge version.

Don't play with tap lands... Is a mistake believe me. There is versions that plays those rainbow lands... But dunno if they are good enough since you cannot fetch them

some game play theory here, cant you just play oricle as a bloker who scrys? then as the game moves forward sacrifice it to theipy then dread return it? In the last game, I think that would have set you up nicely.

Legacy is hilarious. Absurdly powerful cards. Decks that win on turn 1. But also, deck plays a 1/1 flyer that can't be answered and wins the race.

@BoshNRoll

I would update the deck to have 2 Swords main in the current metagame. It’s a powerful combo deck that doesn’t need that much removal to win, but I think with Bowmasters around you want a couple.

I still don’t understand why there’s only three amoebas, aren’t you screwed if you try to combo off and one is in hand? Isn’t it good to have an extra one to pitch to FoW? I’m not an expert on breakfast, but four amoebas makes sense to me…

only need 3 creatures to sac into dread. including the illusionist
@drpibisback7680
@drpibisback7680 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelpopa5317You only even need one Narcomoeba in the deck if you combo with Nomad and Illusionist, as that's two creatures to feed to Dread Return. Combined with Brainstorms to put back Narcomoebas drawn earlier in the game and the lower risk of drawing Narco to begin with when there's only three in the deck, there's not really that high of a risk. If you actually draw all your Narcomoebas, that probably means something went very wrong.

people used to name combo decks after breakfast foods, for some reason, there was one called cheerios, trix, etc. this one just stuck around the longest
@Hadradavus

Homage to other older combo decks from the late 90s and early 2000s that were named after breakfast food. In Cephalid's case it was named after Full English Breakfast (used Volrath's Shapeshifter and Survival of the Fittest to turn VS into scary must-answer monsters like Phyrexian Dreadnought and Phage the Untouchable). The source of this trend was Cheerios, a deck/archetype which used a lot of 0-drops for its strategy, with all the 0s in the mana costs being reminiscent of a bunch of Cheerios cereal pieces.

The first "breakfast" deck was "Fruity Pebbles", which was an Enduring Renewal/Goblin Bombardment/0 cost creature deck, that also played other colors, so "fruity" was about how the deck had many colors, and "pebbles" because it used small creatures flung at you with Goblin Bombardment many times. The deck was then turned into "Cocoa Pebbles" when people realized that they could throw Necropotence into the deck and use it to draw enough cards to draw into the combo. Around the same time, someone stumbled on the idea of the same deck but using a 2 card combo: Illusions of Grandeur and Donate. The downside of this combo was that it wasn't an auto win when you completed it (unless you had a bounce spell too, which turned it into a 3 card combo anyway), but since it tended to win fairly often after the combo, it pushed out the other Pebbles decks, and was called "Trix", presumably in reference to the trickiness of giving your opponent a bad permanent. Around the same time, there was a deck based on Recurring Nightmare and Great Whale that generated infinite mana but had more going on with it and just happened to win with an infinite combo, so it was called "Wheaties".

I can't tell if the worse video quality on this one is from some color balance setting in the recording or the new reduced bitrate of 1080p for non-premium youtube users. But it is very noticeable :(
