Join us on this video for a walk up Bosley Cloud, which sits on the border of Cheshire and Staffordshire. Parking is available close to the foot of the hill, but we started our route from the village of Bosley, between Macclesfield and Leek on the A523. The route initially takes us across farmland and some quiet country lanes before a steady climb up to the summit of the hill at 343m above sea level.
It is a straightforward and easy walk of around 10km (6 miles), but there are some stiles to negotiate and there may be animals in the fields.
Many thanks for watching!

Loved this hike with the old cillos (corn mill) and toadstool. One of my favorite features was in the beginning with the old church and the tunnel bridge.

Now that is sure a quaint area for a wander for sure. Appreciate coming up to old rail beds converted to trails. Oh dear, that looked like a lot of stairsteps... All the ferns is just marvelous! Enjoy the rest of the week. Bruce and Otis

Hi Bruce and Otis! It was a nice and varied walk, and I think Maria enjoyed this one. Having thought about the route of that old railway line, I think a little further on it has been brought back to life as a miniature steam railway! I will have to check that out at some point 😁 Take care both of you! ATB👍😊

Yes, been meaning to do it for years. I used to gaze longingly at it from the London train 😂 Our camp site was more on the Leek side, so we didn't approach along the canal. Cheers for watching & catch you soon👍

Hi Stu. It was a nice little mornings walk, apart from a short unavoidable road section. Been meaning to get up Bosley Cloud for years, as I've seen it so often passing on the train. Those wallabies were a surprise! 😁 All the best & many thanks for watching👍

Hi Chris. This was the best route I could make from our campsite in Bosley. Nice, but it did include a section along a quiet country road. If you want avoid roads, Tramp in the Hills Steve mentioned that he did a route approaching along the Macc Canal, which might be better. All the best & thanks for watching👍😊

Hi Rachel. It is a nice area, but a bit out on its own. It is on the Gritstone Trail though...so who knows, you might get to visit at some point! I was scouting wild camping spots, but I think you'd need to be very stealthy up there. The farm with the wallabies, did seem to have a few tents on though. All the best & cheers for watching👍😊

Nice old church and a nice flat start to the walk as well. Those clouds seem to sum up the July weather this year, what's happened to summer! Nice walk but a canny few steps at the end as well as the wallaby's as well, never expected to see them. Nice views across the countryside when you got to the top and a nice white cairn too. To be honest I thought you were in for a right soaking giving the July we have had but good to see you kept dry, cheers Alan

Hi Alan. Yes, rain wasn't too bad despite the ominous clouds! Got more wet from walking through the long grass 😁 I think Maria liked this one too...great views and only a little over 300m of ascent to se them! 👍😁 All the best & catch you soon👍

Hi Des, not sure I've heard of Bosley Cloud, but it looked an impressive hill. Great to see those wallabies! My friend said he used to see them years ago around the Roaches, they were quite common then apparently. Nice morning walk that Des. All the best 👍
@DesGreene
@DesGreene Жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick. Not a million miles from the Roaches. Bosley Cloud is sort of between Leek and Congleton, so the wallabies might be linked to the old "wild" population? It was a nice little walk, but couldn't avoid a short road section from where we were staying. Hope all is well with you! All the best and catch you soon👍🙂

Hi Mark. Only a short walk, but a hill I've wanted to climb for a long while (partly to scout out possible camping spots, as it's on the Gritstone Trail). The wallabies were definitely more of a surprise than the weather! 😁 It's been lousy hasn't it? Cheers for watching and catch you soon👍

Looks good up there Des. I have a feeling I can see BC from my local hills. So, what weight was your best chub then? I was a keen stillwater angler in my teens. I always wanted to get into fishing in rivers, for chub, barbel, grayling, etc. No scope for that in Rochdale when you're a lad. 😄. Bye for now, Chris
@DesGreene

Hi Chris. My lical rivers were more or less sewers when I was a lad. When I started working, a southern guy that I became great mates with nagged me about river fishing and we ended up going on the Dane.. 4.5lb was my best ever chub, but that mate Eric always caught more than me! 😁
