Wow this day was a long one. Google maps really let us down on this one. We thought a 2 1/2 hr. drive from Zadar, Croatia to Una National Park in Bosnia would be an easy day trip, hopping right over the border and then back again. We were so wrong. Watch how google maps takes us down what is probably an illegal border road, where we almost wrecked our rental car, and takes us on a very time-consuming detour. Leaving at 6:30 in the morning and not arriving until 11:00 is absolutely mind blowing when it should have taken half that time.
We recommend some time at Una National Park if you are staying in Bosnia, but we DO NOT recommend a day trip from Croatia. It was a disaster going there and coming back and the roads are not well maintained.
The waterfalls and scenery were beautiful, and we look forward to coming back to Bosnia someday and spending some time in the area, really getting to explore more of the 350 square km park.
