I applaud how you do everything yourself. I started on a rotisserie restoration on my 65 when I was 17. ( Without an actual rotisserie ! ) It took me 3 1/2 years to finish it in a 1 1/2 stall garage. I did everything, body,engine,trans, differential,wiring,upholstery,glass,paint etc. By the time I finished it I had become completely familiar with every square inch of that car. Now that car is as much a part of me as I am to it. I still have the car and it needs all the same attention again but this time it will be easier to do. Back then all we had available were long front and rear floor pans. Lots of fitting and welding but the end result was a solid floor again. Most of the rest of the panels were salvaged rust free and hard to find Midwest junkyard panels. Oh how things have changed in 35 years. Now anyone is just a click away from pristine new metal. Keep up the great work, your cars are fine pieces of craftsmanship.

Great innovation with the floor raise. I’m sure you are right about the suspension layout benefitting from retaining the mid range settings that the original stock design intended. The only physical change (not necessarily a negative) is that a very tall driver will experience an inch less headroom and getting in and out of the car etc. Should look great though buddy! 😊🇬🇧👍

This basic platform Ford used on a lot of cars from 1959 to 1980. Even when the Mustang no longer used it, the Maverick and Granada did. There has been a lot of effort from a lot of people on various improvements, customizing, and so on over the decades. When someone has the skills to rebuild these from scratch the options are practically limitless given what's out there.

Hi sir, I really love your work ethic when it comes to restoring these old fords. I’m an Australian , so I’m more a GM fan myself . But I’m addicted to your channel. Are able to explain the type of paint you use during the floor install process and with weld burn through , Will this become a rust issue later on , is the areas where you weld a new piece in and cannot paint behind going to be safe from corrosion , moisture etc, are these areas sealed completely ? That’s what I want to know , is how you know these areas will not be a problem later on down the road
@bradarmstrong89593 жыл бұрын
I have been watching all the metal/restoration videos I can and come across good tips from other restoration videos. There is a guy named Jade Muttly that restores English cars in his videos and he paints everything then uses a broken drill bit to remove the paint through the drilled out spot weld so he can re-weld. FYI another to watch is Fitzee's Fabrications.

This is going to get interesting with the front and rear frame rails and the torque boxes. With nothing else done to compensate the torque boxes and front rails will move up with the floor making the engine compartment shorter in height. Then the front bumper isn't going to line up correctly because it's mounted to the frame rails. In the back the 1/4 panel drops won't line up with the bottom of the 1/4 panels. And the rear bumper mounts to the frame rails via the trunk floor so it won't line up properly with the taillight panel. Then there are all the interior panels that will need trimming/customizing. That's only what I can think of off the top of my head. A lot of work down the consequence chain.
