I had a similar thought to this the other day! I mean, we love a hustle but we don’t need to EXPECT a hustle!!! Like my friend in high school built photography experience, spent time with friends/classmates, and made good side money all at once, and I respected the side hustle so much. But like she enjoyed it. No one NEEDS a side hustle. I’m a 21 y/o female and for years I’ve felt this inner voice telling me I need a side hustle 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️..... I actually finally started the smallest of lil side hustles, and I think I’m comfortable with where I am, and should maybe let the inner voice be satisfied with this level of effort. I’m in college and my university does psych studies that are sometimes paid. So I check every week to see what studies are being offered, and it’s sometimes an easy way to make a quick buck without any long term commitment. Plus, it’s a bit interesting, and I feel like my contribution to a psych study is worth a lil something to the world. Maybe some day I’ll get to be a part of a fun study lol. 😂😂 Anyway, back to the concept you expressed in your post. Yeah the other day I wrote in my notes app my actual life goals and top of the list is now “work 32 hours or less a week for a full time salary.” The labor movement has been so stagnant for so long. Worker productivity has skyrocketed but we’ve been working a 40 hour week for like a hundred years. We invented the weekend and all of our societal constructs.... why not just make the weekend 3 days lol??? Why give most of my worker productivity away to a few rich bitches at the top 🙄🙄🙄

I have legit gone to one of those cult ‘self improvement’ retreats. My mum spent thousands of dollars, we were made to stay in a hotel room for 3 days and I bawled my eyes out every night. I was 15 and was forced to talk about my own personal trauma and yelled at by 5 adults telling me that to ‘flourish in my life’ I needed to get over my trauma and forgive everyone in my life. They talked about my body and sexually objectified me for three whole days and said I had to ‘submit’ to their methods. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, NEVER trust these MLM ‘retreats’. Ever. Edit : I’ve done some digging and found out that the original creator of the ‘retreat’ (called ISA: the experience) has sexually assaulted multiple people within the program, and the entire organisation has been classified as a Cult. It was one of the first things that appeared when I searched it up.

This breaks my heart. 🥺 I'm so fucking sorry man.... they should all be so ashamed of themselves for involving a MINOR in their bullshit!! 😡 they are such ruthless, cold hearted people with no moral compasses whatsoever. The worst hun that came after me did so knowing full well that I was homeless, living in my car, so broke I was worried about having enough fumes in my tank to get me to a safe place to sleep the night, and also happened to be hospitalized when she feigned giving a shit in order to exploit everything about my situation. I was extremely sick, 87 pounds, couldn't get up, was dangerously dehydrated without my constant IV, had almost lapsed into a coma that morning from wonky blood sugar, and had been given emergency potassium twice in the past few days to keep my heart from giving out and stopping completely. She knew all of this, but proceeded to try to sell me weight loss products that give the illusion of efficacy by DEHYDRATING you badly. If I'd used her products I literally would have died, but she so desperately needed that hundred dollars from me.... which I had SAID I didn't have. But they're told by their upline that if someone says they can't afford it, that they're lying/exaggerating and everyone has a way. 🙄 I didn't. If I did, I would've been buying myself FOOD and shit. The cruelty of her messages and how quickly she dipped out of them once she FINALLY realized I was a lost cause.... it crushed me. I was very alone in the world at this point and needed to feel like one person cared. She got my hopes up just a little and then crushed them. I was so upset my nurses came sprinting thinking my heart was getting bad again because my hysterical sobbing set off all of my vitals monitors. The huns are a special breed of heartless. It's unforgivable. I hope that you've found healing from what they did to you, and from what they were making you relive for their own sick enjoyment and exploitation. 😔 be well 💙

They convinced me that once I got the kit, I would be selling like mad, having parties like mad, and could effectively double my income. When I couldn’t (or wouldn’t, I can’t even remember anymore) schedule a makeup party successfully, the girl who recruited basically told me how disappointed the company would be that I wasn’t believing in myself. Long story short, I ended up selling like two things to my mom, returned everything else, and had to sign a contract saying I was banned from ever selling Mary Kay again. Yeah, okay, because that was going to trigger me into staying.

At one point, she got rid of my bed in the corner of our one bedroom apartment to make space for her office and I had to sleep on the floor. She would spend money on food and stuff for her makeup "parties" and if I helped, I'd get to eat some. There’s nothing wrong with being a stay at home mom, the problem is created when companies prey on stay at home moms. Being a mom is cool, being an actress is cool too, different things for different women. But big companies know the majority of women choose to be moms, so they prey on them.
