Hey dude, great demo. Thinking this pedal is going to be a replacement for my old DC3 - really like the fact you can go stereo in and out with this. By the way pal, I'm 53 and have listened to a great many players over the years. You are up there in my top 10 for certain. You have got groove, timing and musicality in spades. I find so much of your playing inspirational and new. Keep treading your path man, it's a real pleasure to share your journey.

Your playing is impeccable, excellent showcase for this pedal. The pedal is pretty good too! Now that I hear it in isolation I can identify what it was that I was hearing on so many recordings over the decades. That maple neck Strat is gorgeous in every way. Love a Strat that has a few miles on it!

I agree. I just got mine and after owning no less than 6 other chorus pedals and all the modelers, it’s crazy how just one button on this unit instantly delivers THAT perfect chorus you always were trying to get with tons of knob turning on the other pedals.

Always enjoy your playing. I know this video is 3 years old but it definitely helped in my decision to purchase this pedal. Thanks
@retrocny56254 жыл бұрын
First thing I think of is that it reminds me more of detune than chorus. The two are similar, but detune doesn't have the kind of oscillation to it that your typical chorus pedal does. Reminds me of Van Halen's tone during the Hagar era. Even that little snippet around 7:40 gave me vibes of the intro to the song "Feelin" during that time. As far as the tone goes. Van Halen was using an Eventide H series harmonizer and doing wet/dry stuff but this pedal really sort of takes you into that tonal territory imo. This is a fantastic sounding pedal. I'm a metal player at heart, but sometimes I have to kick on a delay/chorus/verb and sit around for hours playing cleans. I just love that sound. It's so inspiring on a melodic level.

This is what I’m thinking. I’ve been using micro pitch on a w/d/w it gives a “dry” chorus. This seems to be the same thing. Different flavor, same taste.

Stevie Ray Vaughn’s, style of playing and his tone, can be very much Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton combined, but add in his knowledge and style of playing The Blues, Rock N’ Roll, to 60’s style Rock Music, on the cusp of The 21st Century, making a bold statement as we participate on This Rock we know as our home. I’m glad I experienced his contribution to the world of music, and he is sincerely absent; but he lives on through us all. Rest In 🎼 Paradise 🌟Stevie Ray Vaughn🌟 🌹

This was the secret of SRV’s sound. But he used a rack unit by Roland called the dimension D which he used on several David Bowies recordings, including let’s dance. He used it on his own records also. You can get his sound by switching to the dimension d sound on the pedal with the switch.

Rabea always delivers. What a soulful player. The playing really starts in at 2:50. He starts with such a thick heavy sound, that it becomes difficult to create much of a contrast in tones since his tone is already so deep especially for a Strat. Great demo nonetheless.

I am so glad I got this pedal. I just used it for the first time with my JS24P into a 50w VFX Series Tone Tubby 2x12 Billy Gibbons brown sound tube amp and it was fucking magical, inspirational and downright superb signal and tone quality. I found jam after jam with this thing, it is So Versatile. Clean or Filthy. It really opened up a soundscape I had never been in before. I ordered it from Sweetwater soon after this review and it was "preorder". I was apprehensive about the price tag but based on what I heard and sensed from Rabea's review, I pulled the trigger. I have not been this happy with my rig since I first unboxed my JS24P. This is a quality pedal and worth it. Now I am wondering what it would sound like with a Bonsai tube screamer ... Andertons really needs to open up a shop in the U.S. ! =) Just my 2cents ;)

I have two DC-2's, which I absolutely love. Still excited about this one. The original was mono in stereo out. Also, the original did not allow you to press more than one mode button, or you risk breaking it. On the Roland SDD-320, I believe you could press all 4 if you wanted to. I'd say the only things that would've made the DC-2w even better would be TRS jacks and -10/+4 level switches to mix the rack & pedal world even further. I'm not disappointed. This is awesome and I want one, for sure! Can't wait to shootout both versions for myself!

This pedal is a great thing to have, super excited and as much as I love you rabea that explanation of what chorus and dimension is, is made up mumbo jumbo, a phase what. A chorus is a delay that is oscillated against the dry signal the dimension isn't that different it's a chorus with two delay lines but dialed in for alot tighter sound with shorter delay lines.
@ryanrowlandson99146 жыл бұрын
So like half way between a tri chorus and a flanger?
@JimijaymesProductions6 жыл бұрын
@@ryanrowlandson9914 yeah I believe the waveforms of the lfo were designed to compliment each other, so whereas I think a tri chorus is multiple delay lines with a sine wave the dimension is two ramp waves possible with one inversed both synced together. I could be wrong though, Roland doesn't always give away their technology.
@JimijaymesProductions6 жыл бұрын
I found a thread on gearslutz where Sean Costello from Valhalla dsp says it's two triangle waves one is invertered and then the stereo outputs are made up of both lfos but with phase inversions and filtering. www.gearslutz.com/board/so-much-gear-so-little-time/850634-roland-dimension-d.html

I have played several chorus pedals live and they are often overpowering etc. I found the Boss CE-2 to be wonderful for cleans. but one pedal I used a lot was the Boss dc-3, it allowed you to be more gentle if that’s the word? But smooth! works great for overdrive. I am so interested in the DC-2w
@CountFeedback6 жыл бұрын
I had the original DC-2 this Waza sounds pretty much the same to me. The one thing I didn't like about mine was it would get fizzly on the top end with hot pickups. The DC-2 was kind of the Goth Band secret weapon pedal. I might have to get a Waza... I've also been eyeing the Fromel Seraph DC-2 clone. BOSS DC-2 have been on some notable pedal boards; Reeves Gabrels has one on his Cure live board, Jeff Beck was using a RAT and a DC-2 in the 1990s. Steve Stevens & Warren Cuccurullo used the SDD-320.

This is the closest you can get to playing a Jazz Chorus 120 in a pedal. That’s really what it’s simulating. The way that amp works with its speakers. It’s one of Roland’s greatest achievements along with the Space Echo and the Boss small pedal format. The pedal needs to be played in stereo to get the effect as intended on a JC120.
