KC Well, perhaps I misinterpreted the meaning of your comment, but it seemed like you were putting him down. He is no less of a musician than anyone else, he just has a different way of enjoying the medium. And I’m sure he has helped many other musicians get the tone they want by buying his pedals and watching his videos. What’s wrong with that? For the record, I don’t own a single guitar pedal (other than a ditto loop pedal) and I have no allegiance to him or any other pedal maker... Just making my point that music isn’t exclusively for those who “prefer to play”, there are many different ways to enjoy it. Just my two cents.

I think it's a very clever marketing technique. Josh shares his knowledge and passion with you in order to educate and spark an interest in different pedals and their application. When it comes time to shop/search for the pedal you're seeking, you can always know that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about his craft, so JHS will be quality pedals. I, personally, would love if more companies took this approach. Instead of cramming his brand down your throat, you're just given a desire to use the product, and the tools to decide what's right for you

@Fintan Fuzz pedals are on the decline. There was the huge boutique boom and now it's on the way out. If there was any relevance to what you were saying they'd have made it already. Everybody uses a tuner. Doom and stoner rock (Two niche genres) use fuzz. I like fuzz as much as anyone. I own fz-2, fz-3, muff, swollen pickle, carcosa. Probably more that I don't remember off hand. Almost everyone uses an overdrive at some point. It's about numbers. They have people watching ebay listing charting sales and costs. They've calculated that fz-2 isn't worth remaking. And even less bass players use fuzz. You can still buy used FZ-2 for under 150. Waza will be 200 or more. There is no shortage of FZ-2. I bought one on Craigslist for under 150.

That Dylan album! It was stuck in my CD player while I went to college and was building tube amps. Before I ever built a pedal. I've turned so many people on to it. It's simply amazing. One of my favorite too. So I saw Dylan at that time, the same tour. It was so cool because Dylan was playing leads right! He had a guitar and was crafting melodies that were really cool and so dylan like. I've got a great story about cheering him on as he was playing lead...he stumbled a bit on the guitar and took a few steps back. I kept hollering and cheering like a crazed blue-grass fan. Dylan starts mowing people down with this tele...keeps jamming this lead guitar back and forth, takes a few steps forward, and nods at me! It was so freaking cool. Dylan IS Waza Craft. (ps you should have run the vintage pedals at 11.6 V DC no?) Great show brother!

Capos, alternate tunings. A great way to make guitar based music sound somewhat new. There has been a lot of music written using the standard chords in standard tuning - when you have at least one guitar in the mix with a capo or an alternate tuning, it makes people's ears perk up, and you will be able to play chords using open strings and inversions that are simply not possible to achieve without a cap or in standard tuning. It makes you play differently, which also means it will give you new ideas.

I've been a major Boss fan boy and have been for over 30 years. Really appreciate your enthusiasm for the brand. Maybe we could geek out on Boss over some LaCroux one day. Two questions I've wanted to run by you: 1. Did you realize the JB-2 is the first Boss PEDAL model to have a "J" in the model number? 2. When you did the "Boss is Best" video, you referenced the CE-5 as a good digital chorus unit. Both the CH-1 & CE-5 began life as analog units and were changed to digital by 2001. Have you ever A/B'ed the the two versions of either pedal? Usually, when a manufacturer uses a different technology for a next-gen product, it accompanies a redesign and new model number. It's rare that people get to see & hear two versions claiming to be the same thing. Great example if you ever plan to revisit the analog vs. digital episode. (My apologies for the lengthy comment.)

This is a Dylan top five record, truly. I have to wonder sometimes why I, as a person in my mid 20s, relate so heavily to a morbid Bob Dylan in his 50s. That is a testament to his work.

Time Out of Mind is one of my favorites! Saw Dylan at the Metro (smallish club) in Chicago on that tour, & was really impressed how much of the lead work Dylan played!

I used to hang out in a music store when I was a teenager and the owner was a guy who was in his sixties at the time and was a big Bob Dylan fan back when he hit the national stage, as well as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, all the stuff now regarded as classic. He even auditioned for The Monkees. I was a big Beatles and Bob Dylan fan, so we became friends and talked about music a lot, still are to this day, and I'll be giving him a call in a little while, in fact. He wasn't really that actively interested in listening to albums anymore and said the latest Bob Dylan album he had heard was Time Out of Mind. He said it was just Bob sounding old and tired, and I shot back, "That's what's great about it!" and he laughed. "Tryin' to Get to Heaven" I think is one of the top 5 Bob Dylan songs. "Standing in the Doorway" is lovely and emotional. "Not Dark Yet" is the sound of ennui itself. Time Out of Mind is one of my favorite albums of his, but I think aside from "Cold Irons Bound" the more uptempo (relatively speaking) songs would sound better with a little more life to them and a little less swampiness in the mix, but that wouldn't have suited the aesthetic of the album as well I suppose, since, after all, the aesthetic is Bob sounding old and tired.

"Time out of mind is a masterpiece". "Love sick" is one of my favorite songs ever. There's a live version of ir in a Grammy or something that is killer. Thanks for sharing your love for this album.

I use a DD7 on the "analogue" setting & it does exactly what I want. I could do with something similar for moving between clean & dirty & if Josh says the 5's the one to Wazza I'll buy it (promise). I've got a dimension C. Fire, the wheel, washing machines & TV"s are OK....but they're not as good as the dimension C.

I may be a fool but I don't hate capos. I disregard them same as picks or eyeglasses. The hoboroadie lifestyle is very unfriendly to ephemeral things. Two or three days is all I ever seem to get with some things, and I just have to do without. Most chords can be done without a capo, its just different.

record time; "Time out of mind", is an absolutely fantastic record, one of the best Dylan records people never mention as being one of his best. "love sick," Grammy awards performance a highlight, (with out the soy bomb) "not dark yet" stand out song, great chiming guitar rift and "hearts in the highlands" epic over 10min long, cinematic in its visuals, the reference to Neil Young works on so many levels, great that Dylan acknowledges Young both the romantic story telling and a strong visual landscape, also the fact the song is long, like on everybody knows this is nowhere and on the beach. -in my opinion, it possibly influenced Nick Cave no more shall we part as well (or perhaps Cave is being influenced by Young as well) great moods and tones. great vintage guitar sounds. both simultaneously spacious and contemporary but also sometimes sounding like it was straight out of the 1950's. makes you realize that Dylan was an original rock'n'roller, reminds you that he also he played at the some time as Elvis and Johnny Cash. its strait back to the primary source of modern American music, its not derivative because Dylan is one of the originals, he is a definer of the genre not a follower.
