I bought ds1x after watching these demos. I paired it with the boss katana 50 and it sounds awesome. It is so dynamic you can leave it on all the time. If you need cleans, just roll back your guitar's volume knob. Sound is so balanced you can focus on your playing more. I just sold my beod and ocd because of ds1x.

I know I read a lot of bashers here on these pedals, but I actually really like the sound of these two pedals. Many of you are probably hearing it through bad speakers, which emphasize more on the high end treble too much. Hear them through some good reference speakers and they sound pretty great. I like how they emphasize on the treble end to produce that tightness, so when one is playing big chords the bass wont muddy the high strings. They sound like they give more dynamic than the old pedals. Now I'm debating if I should by a Boss od1x or Maxon od808x.

Rob had some killer riffs in this vid. I don't know why people are hating on the DS-1x. I suppose some of them are able to fill their boards with boutique pedals. IDK. IMHO the DS - 1x sounds awesome, just bought mine 2 days ago. Loving it. But I already have th Ibanez mini tube screamer and love it as well. Feel very fortunate to own two authentic, modern tone sources. As well as a Marshall DSL whose clean channel is perfect for these pedals. Thank you Boss! Great design! And as usual Rob and the captain do a fun review. Keep up the good work. And fly me to England. I'd like to play a Chapman Goldtop.

The adaptive distortion has become one of my secret weapons. Can get such a great OD tone out of it, I sometimes prefer it over my TS808 when I run it with just a smidgeon of distortion. Plus? It really does that 'every note in a chord' thing at higher levels. Everyone I've demo'd it to has wanted one. A steal, try it you might like it says I!

I'm diggin' the OD-1X and I'm impressed with the amount of gain you can get from it. I'm a bit mixed on the DS-1X. Some demos sound great, other not so much. There seems to be a bit of that upper-mid 'chiff' as I like to call it that is bugging me. But I guess I'll wait until I can get one in front of me and try it out. In the meantime I'll just enjoy my MXR Super Badass.

Honestly for a person to achieve the right tones, all they have to do is understand how to use the volume and tone controls on their guitar in addition to proper hand techniques, such as pick attack and so on. Until you get into the more crazy sounding tones you shouldn't need any pedals or affects. However the fact that line 6 has designed an amplifier that can do this is really a testament to the company. I'm interested in what's next for line 6.

These pedals,which I own both of,made a 3rd rate amp like Crapstar sound great. Use them on great amps with a clean platform and then you'll get the true brilliance of what they are capable of. 1st off,you only need to move the knobs about 1 notch in any direction,and you hear a great difference in tone thats usable. Both pedals have a wide spectrum and are very touch sensitive which makes you play better as well as sound better. Remember,the original OD and Dist pedals from Boss were pretty cheesy. Both these pedals have been brought into the new world of boutique style stompboxes and are true contenders. Also at a better price than most other units.

There's any way for you guys to do a review from some minor brands of guitar or pedals? You know, something like showing what's going on in another countries. Here in Brazil, for example, there are several brands that are completely unknown, but sounds real good. Maybe Anderton's could grab a few pedals from unusual countries to test and start to sell them too. A challenge that I made for you is to make a review of the Giannini Axcess Mystic Drive (MD-102). It's a quite nice overdrive pedal, with the shape of the MXR, but it's not a copy of any model from MXR, it's one of a few different pedals made from "non worldwide" brands, that feels and sound exclusive. The "Scoop" button in the MD-102 changes the tone to a midrange controler, letting the Bass and Treble at full, great for heavier songs. By the way, it's just an idea. Keep on rocking in your videos, they are the best out there about instruments!

Hey, great video! Bit of a random question, but you seem like a great guy to ask! Do you know of any guitar pedals to replicate the tones in Jefferson Airplane's Surrealistic Pillow? Specifically 'Today', 'Somebody to Love' and 'White Rabbit'. I have searched all corners of the internet, I have been told an Ampeg Scrambler was used on that album, however that is not the tone I am after. I am not after a fuzz tone. I have also seen that a Vox Tone Bender was used, but again this does not replicate the tones I am specifically after. The best example is in the intro to 'Today', a rather clean tone. Thank you!

I don't like the sound of these digital pedals, bit too harsh. They may sound better in the room though. However, the adaptive technology seems to work. Boss, create a plain boost pedal with just the adaptive bit in please so it can process the dynamics and then boost a tube amp accordingly! :)

In terms of OD did we ever need anything more than a DOD 250 and if we did didn't MXR Distortion+ Hotrod the DOD 250 circuit to take OD to the next level? Just an observation I'm not hating on Boss and I guess its all in the manner in which the player uses the equipment. However, the DOD 250 is the easiest way to get an OD sound. Honestly if someone wants a versatile pedal then I have to hand that to the BE-OD. The thing is literally a mini-amp and can sound good with almost anyone using it. It still can't fix having a shitty tone that is a whole other can of worms.

@littlewing6210 жыл бұрын
pedals with real pre amp tubes are supposed to have a more dynamic and creamy distortion/overdrive sounds. they tend to emulate tube amps, obviously. some people find that they lack attack and bite. pedals with no tubes in them (ex OD1, TS808) are good on pushing the front end of tube amps, giving more dirt and responsiveness, depending on which amp and how you set it. some pedals are really good on emulating tube amp sounds (catalinbread dirty little secret for ex) sounds like a plexi in a box. and some pedals sound good on their own (ex. fulltone OCD). so it's up to you to compare, hear different pedals, different pedals on different amps. comparing tube and non tube is like comparing a hamburger to the eiffel tower; lol; the real question is? what works for you, what type of music do you play, and how does it sound on your rig. i hope it answers your question, and happy pedal hunting!

I wouldnt say these are bad pedals. IMHO other than anything Wampler, Love, MI, certain EMMA and one or two Blackstar pedals... These are like every other OD and Dist pedal - meant to be tone stacked with cascading gain structures. This gives the best balance, harmonics and sustain, For an overall better dirt sound. This of course is a bummer since pedals aren't free are they? In fact about the only pedals I wouldnt stack are most wamplers but specifically the Sovereign, Euphoria and slo. A few others being the Love eternity, MI megalith and the Emma PisdiYAUwot. Everything else is free game as long as they play nice together. Besides why not have a bunch of different options ranging from vintage to modern dirt on your board? Then again I cringe every time I hear an ocd by itself and not stacked with something to balance the harshness while adding more sustain.. so maybe it's just me :)

Please!! MAKE A REVIEW OF BOSS WASA CRAFT!!!! :D :D :D Just a word: durable. When I bought my first boss pedal, a ds-1 I told my friend Rudy to let it fall to the ground just to know if it reeeally can resist the time, he smacked it to the ground, even a corner cracked a little bit. I was thinking, THA FUCK DUDEEE!! Then we connected it and it worked without a problem. Maybe not the best recording pedals, or the finest... but the most reliable I´ve ever tried. Don't think DS-1 and DS-1X are the same but improved, but I personally prefer the older BOSS looks.
