I used to work for One Control and we had so much feedback about our switching unit and basically this thing covers all of them. You can change the order, advanced midi and more expression control. I can't believe it took so long for BOSS to make something like this.There pedal sales were dropping for years and this niche market was getting bigger and bigger. With Roland's knowledge of midi controllers it only makes sense for them to make something like this. That being said I have absolutely no use for it and would never spend that much money on something like that. 2 or 3 pedals is all I need.

How soon before you release the update video for the ES-8 ? Very interested in hearing the follow up demo. I currently have an ES-8 but am trying to get my last couple of pedals purchased before I start using it regularly. So far I am very impressed with the unit just starting to dive into the Midi aspect of the unit though so far I have a Strymon Mobius and an Eventide H9 but looking to add the EP booster and either a Timeline or a DD-500 to use as a fulltime delay. My Drive pedals are an OCD , Suhr Riot, and a Fuzz Face along with a SP compressor. Should make for a pretty awesome board that covers just about everything.

@nataroonytrontime39764 жыл бұрын
Well unless you are running a pedal with two inputs and outputs and an amp with a selectable effects loop then no. Not realy and even then the pedal can only be in the front or the effects loop and the front at the same time

@wchurchill4199 жыл бұрын
uuugh. what exactly do you mean by "not as flexible"? not as flexible as your boss gt100?? surely thats not what you mean. now...im positive you don't own a es8. now regardless if your friends told you boss cosm and modeling is totally awesome, but...um....yea. about as awesome as line 6 internal components 😁. when you play on genuine awesome pedal (not modeled ones) you will quickly throw that gt100 right in the trash believe me Fwiend, stuff your board with strymons, eventides, analogmans, etc... youll never go back to any modeled algorithms...and u will be off to get yourself an es8 as well. as far as versitility and its intended purpose youll be hard pressed to find anything better. does your gt100 accept 8 pedal inputs, with 2 stereo, integrated as a midi controller, give true analog signal, independent buffer control, change routing of effects in any way shape or form etc etc etc?? here lemme answer that. no. dont mean to b a douche. just find your comment a bit ridiculous, thsts all.

OK, here's a brain-buster: Can you send MIDI message to the H9 to change parameters at the same time your sending a MIDI change to the ES-8? Or would it actually be the ES-8 sending a MIDI message to the H9 (or other MIDI device) to change a parameter as part of a ES-8 patch?

Hi, I was wondering if the es8 can control line 6 multi effects pedals like the dl4? I have the modulation and the delay versions by line 6 and was thinking of adding a hex and es8 looper to control my pedals...I have a rather large pedal board with over 16 pedals going so you could imagine the tap dancing I do. It would really be nice if I could get the dl4 and the mm4 to work on one of those loopers. Thanks for your time.

Interested in getting one of these, but I'm curious about how you are able to run certain pedals through the ES8 and the amp's effects loop at the same time? So basically, I understand that you can just put pedals like an overdrive, distortion, compressor or wah into the ES8 like demonstrated in the video, as they are pedals that you'd typically run through the front of the amp, but how would you put modulation and delay/reverb type pedals through an amp's effects loop whilst making sure that they go through the ES8 so that you can switch them in and out like the others? I'm sure it's an easy solution that i've totally missed, but I really have no clue how I'd wire this thing up that way. Great video btw guys :)
@wchurchill4199 жыл бұрын
you can def do that. if boss didnt plan for that, it would the grandest failure ever lol. guitar--> input 1 output 1-->front end amp fx send from amp---> input 2 output 2---> fx return on amp. you can also change the order of all the pedals, activate individual buffer or go True bypass on each channel or loop through the menu function on es8. hope that helps. and you will fkin love this things cuz it also midi control your strymons, eventides, etc and not have to buy a seperate midi controller.
@wchurchill4199 жыл бұрын
also if your using more pedals than available slots, youll be busy with trial and error. i go from output 1 of es8 to input on my compressor which i barely ever use -->isp theta preamp/hi gain dist--> to front end amp. then input/output 2 sync with amp send/return fx loop. there are tons of diff possibilities and options for routing. you will b a busy bee testing what works best for you. if you dont have more thsn 8 pedals...your good to go! ok im done rambling now

@tremoverb18 жыл бұрын
Make a cable with the sleeve conductor cut, and use that for either your amp send cable or your amp return cable. Both the send and return cables sleeve conductor (not center conductor) connect to the amp chassis and the es-8 chassis. They create a ground loop, and only one sleeve conductor is required.

@edparker35498 жыл бұрын
I have contacted Boss and Marshall about this pedal as I have a TSL602 Amp. I understood that this could be used to switch amp channels along with setting which pedals are connected at the same time. Both have come back to say that there is no way to switch amp channels, so this looper is pretty much useless unless I want to use dirt pedals instead of my amps drive channels. £500 well spent....hmmm? Hope this helps anyone else who is thinking about this.

+Edmar Olympio thats a loooooot of time and effort your asking for there chief. maybe if you make a contribution to his campaign, he might just do it lol...this ones on me... 1) there are a billion videos on your tube about midi. anything you want him to make, is already out there. 2) understanding and setting up midi, is going to take many many hours, its not learning how go use an effects loop 3) search eventides website, which has great videos on how to connect multiple midi devices, setting your master controller, correct cable hookups, correct routing of midi signal, channels etc. after watching those youlll have a much better understanding and general idea of what and how. 4) you are not getting midi to work, because you perceive it as plug n play setup...not even close. 5) research, reasearch, research. ive spent many months taking in one piece at a time. your road will require the same effort. the info is right here on youtube. your going to get out, what you put in....how much time beyond looking at the boss manual have you put in educating yourself on midi? im gonna go out on a limb, and prolly say not much. 6) you bought that es8 for 700 bones....get off that keyboard and pick up that tele....get boss customer/tech support on the phone and tell your rep you need help setting up midi comms on your amp/es8....u paid good money..make sure you use that tech support. it will be like your own personal assistant or midi teacher. 7) follow my step by step tutorial on utilizing resources and exercise that brain...you will become the next midi master....and perhaps it will be you making the video :)
