I get the feeling they wanted to do more mini-bosses, but they didn't have the time to implement them into the other streamers. I was half expecting a Big Scuttlebug mini-boss in the Yellow Streamer area, especially because of the big web. Thankfully though, the ones that do use this theme are really fun (Handaconda especially), so they make the most of it.

I like how, based on the situation, this theme takes on a completely different meaning. During the Sumo Bros. fight, you hear the drums at the start, and it sounds like you're fighting a couple of bikers. During the Handaconda fight, you hear the electric guitar, and it sounds terrifying. It's the exact same theme, with the exact same instruments, but because of the situation it sounds completely different, and I like that.

I find it funny how this music comes from this game. To me, this literally sounds like all of Wario Land boss music stuffed into a single theme. It has the quirky chiptune of the GB games (and VBWL), the funky synth of Wario Land 4 and Wario Land: Shake It!, and the driving metal of Wario: Master of Disguise. This is the ultimate Wario boss music to my ears.

I remember playing through the Handaconda fight, landing on the Rock Paper Scissors panel, and randomly guessing because I hadn't even noticed that he shows you what he's gonna choose. I got it right by pure luck, decided it was either random or it was programmed to let you win, and proceeded to land on the panel again the following turn, after STILL not paying attention, getting it right again by pure chance. Thanks to those lucky wins, I beat it really easily, and I felt genuinely bad for Handaconda after I later found out about his telegraph.

If I heard this in any other context other than it playing for the first time in-game, I genuinely would have never guessed that this is the boss theme in a Mario game. TOK's OST as a whole doesn't sound like Mario music. And I am not complaining about that at all, I would rather this soundtrack not feel bound by the expectations of a Mario soundtrack than try to "Mario" it up, given how non-standard it is not just as a Paper Mario game, but as a Mario game in general.
