I've owned the Headrush for 3 years now. Played several gigs with it and the ability to create set lists was what sold me on it. 3 years later zero issues and still love it. Very well constructed and built for years of use.

Uhhh, That was the most intelligently done, most comprehensive and informative comparison I’ve ever seen between two products on KZbin. I love that you didn’t make us sit through the same guitar phrase over and over while you switched back-and-forth between the two units, and rather just switch the two units (and real amp) during the musical piece at the beginning. I love your green and red bullet point specs comparison… Well done! I’m subscribing to your channel and I hope to see more of your videos.

There's too many things that make the HR better for live use. I use mine playing out around 20 times a month and I need to switch from a '59 bassman to a Princeton to a JCM800 to a Deluxe and many others many times during the night. In rig mode I just pull them up without having to search or change any banks. Just hold the scroll down button and all the rigs I want to call up are displayed on the footswitches and that eliminates having to try to remember what button to hit. The effects are set up the same way. The ability to change parameters hands free on the run is great too. Running multiple amp heads in stereo, all the hundreds of cabs and IRs makes the HR a dream to play. The best thing is the touch screen. If you can use a smart phone or a tablet you can use this thing....just touch and drag. No need to enter any menus or turn any dials. Love it.

I purchased the headrush and like the sounds, but the two things that are forcing me to send it back are it has no software editor. The thing is designed to sit on the floor and it weighs 15 pounds. It also lacks midi cc capabilities. If you want to be able to control all your gear from a single point it won't be with this pedalboard. I'm about to order the GT1000 pedalboard as I love the software editor and the tones. Boss has been in the guitar pedal business for more than 30 years and many of the effects that we hear today are clones of the pedals they created. Honestly from a modeler perspective they all sound the same to me. I think it should be about your own personal needs and less about how realistic it sounds against what it is modeling. You can get very authentic sounding patches from any one of these units. I am glad I had a chance to experiment with the Headrush as it has given me alot of tone ideas for my final rig.

For those thinking about getting a headrush unit, I will point out a detail. All the effects in the unit are designed as a 2 level effect. That means you first choose the effect type (reverb, delay, drive etc.) Then you can choose the sub-effect type. (air/spring for reverb, tape/echo for delay etc) For instance after reverb, you can choose air-reverb (reverb -> air reverb). You can have more than 2 reverbs; but you can only have 2 air-reverbs in the 11 block. Example: 2 spring reverbs + 2 air-reverbs for a total of 4 reverb blocks is ok. But if you need another reverb block, then you cannot choose air or spring reverb.

Great job Leo! clear and exhaustive explanation as always. I must say that after hearing your demo of the Kemper Stage it is difficult for me to get excited for both units in terms of sound (of course the Kemper also has another price obviously). However between the two I prefer the GT1000 for your own reasons ... boss stomps ...

To those who are making a decision based solely on sounds they hear on KZbin, I suggest you also consider other, more important factors such as the number and type of I/Os, power supplies, dimensions and response speed. In terms of the actual tones, it really largely depends on how you dial in the sound. When done right they can all sound amazing. But rest assured they all sound terrible when you first get it and going through the factory presets.
@LeoGibsonGtr
@LeoGibsonGtr 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I do agree...the sound is important but it may not be the only factor to take into consideration. That's the reason why I make those Comparison Charts: I think they can help you to verify the options / the I/O etc...so that you can make an informed decision...at least this is my intention. Thank you for your comment!

The HR is not bad at all but sounds like a less detailed and digitally compressed copy of the JCM, the Boss sounds like a different plexi style amp, but a nice sounding one. I'm starting to think that maybe we were trying to find more replicas than good digital amp sounds o.o. Maybe the Boss is better for what it is and not for being the exact copy of a JCM, and that is according to dont put those funny brand-model modified names on the amp models of the GT 1000 jaj... Maybe that goal should be sound closer to a real tube amp, not like an specific one? Just sayin'. Bright demo and review, Leo :D lml

@@conradovitorlopesfernandes5570 The Headrush. It is flaky with the USB port getting zapped and not working. After the "zap" it only allows for firmware updating..it can't be mounted as a drive. The GT-1000 just keeps on kicking it and proving it gots more power than people realize or need. But Headrush gets max points for their customer service. Return/refund is a breeze. I've had the HR for a couple of years now and used an Eleven Rack before that. My biggest complaint about the HR is that you have to manually balance the output of each rig and I find it tedious. I would much rather be able to set a global output level for all my patches and then override individual patches as necessary and to allow individual effects to increase the volume of a specific patch. This is also a problem with the Helix and, I've been told, all the other floor units. Nonetheless, nothing I heard in this demo compels me to sell my HR and buy the Boss.

I’m still on the fence with these multi-effects pedals. They always seem to be missing something compared to analog pedals. I prefer to have as little on my pedal board as possible but would love to be able to have all these pedals and features in one pedal. In your opinion do any of the multi-effects pedals meet or exceed the sound of standalone stomp boxes? Thanks again for these great videos.

I've owned a Headrush but not a Boss. The Headrush sounded great but it always had issues with the USB connection and, what's come to be known, as the rainbow of death i.e. at start up the screen would flash multiple colours and fail to start. They were well know problems that Headrush didn't even acknowledge let also attempt to address. I know lots of people haven't had those problems but lots have. The problems were so bad that I gave the Headrush away because I thought it would be unconscionable to sell it. For that reason I wouldn't buy another Headrush product.

I have always been a massive Boss fan having use 3 different multi fx units + a Marshall JCM 800 half stack. This puts me in the Boss camp all day long. My issue is that based on this and other videos I've seen, the Headrush sounds more authentic to my ears. So the jury is still out . . .

The cleans on the Headrush sounded closer to the Fender, and the Marshall on the GT 1000 sounded closer. The Headrush looks easier to use but I guess it all comes down to sound

@@LeoGibsonGtr no its a deluxe reverb so no fx loop. I'm just fed up of tap dancing and also gassing for pedals lol 😆 was first looking at a switcher but then thought one of these would be cool and could also go to front on house in future with certain gigs. I always thought the boss was a clear winner but hearing your video made me doubt as the headrush sounds awesome and a tad more authentic.. its a tough choice!!
@Scott__C

Good run through. As far as amp sounds, any unit will need tweaked a bit and I think both sound very good. I think just setting it to what you set that amp to normally is only a starting point. Haven't tried Headrush, but I have a GT-1000. If Boss revamped their editing interface to be easier and put scribble strips as on the Headrush and the Helix, they'd sell a lot more units. I love that it's smaller and lighter, though. I also think they need a unit based on these tones to compete with Headrush Gigboard and HX Stomp. Leo, I don't think you'll see any of these companies lower a price until a new version is out, because there are firmware updates to improve functionality and it devalues the product. Helix has actually gone up nearly $200 US in price since I bought mine a few years ago.
@LeoGibsonGtr
@LeoGibsonGtr 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, thank you for sharing your opinion. I do agree with you!. You are right also about the price, even though I still think that the price policy should be different. The chips inside these units are getting old and their price should go down, therefore I think that the pedalboard makers should reduce a little bit their prices. Thank you for your message!

hello you can't put IRs on those units unfortunately and IRs really make the change in the tone. mooer and recently nux (mg30) multi fx pedals are the cheapest with IR loading capabilities. mooer ge250 and nux mg 30 are pretty comparable in this regard. mooer has some tone capture capabilities while nux mg 30 has parallel paths.

Hi, they are both great units, and the answer greatly depend on your needs, in my opinion. For instance the GT 1000 is smaller and lighter and this could be a plus for your, or you may need the extra footswitches of the Headrush. Therefore I would suggest to watch the comparison chart, to verify which unit better suit your needs! Thank you for your message!
