Because the perception of BOSS pedals is that the are a little generic sounding compared to the boutique pedals going for niche sounds of the cork-sniffer crowd. But that’s not really a putdown because to be considered "generic" means that BOSS must have commanding market share and are already on so many players’ pedalboards. And if that many people use them, they must be pretty good. I like a lot of BOSS pedals but not as big a fan their drives and distortions because they are voiced a little too high-gain for me. That's specific to the new Titan model Leon is playing here. Digital modeling usually requires a low pass filter and pretty big cuts at 8k and above - just a reality of that type of technology - and the Boss stuff is no different. But the Titan is insane in this regard. I first thought the unit was bugging out on me. But once you dial that out, it turns into an incredibly powerful amp with really, really surprising dynamics. @@Orion28296 They're different, but not 'completely'. In a ven-diagram, the FX would show significant overlap. I'm a little confused, Leon. perhaps you can put me straight. I get the feeling that the latest BOSS modeller/fx floor units don't get a ot of love (GT-1000, GX-100, etc). I know competition is stiff but, all the same, they seem to be getting pushed aside. The GX-100 (in the UK) is priced less than the, for example, the new Ampero II/Ampero Stage II - a lot less. I know it doesn't do amp capture but I find myself scratching my head. Now, I'm not a BOSS fanboi or anything but what's the deal? Are the BOSS units any good or not - how do you think they truly stack up against the competition?
