Hey Leon, you are the reason I’ve gotten back into guitar playing, I was big into it in the eighties, then it sort of drifted off the radar. When I discovered you and rag doll about a year and a half ago your tone and playing style lit me up like I can’t describe. I have fired up my old mark 3 boogie, purchased a new jp2c and a boatload of new gear and just bury myself in it. I’m 60 years old and better than I’ve ever been thanks to you. Your playing is fantastic, tone is amazing and your knowledge of music and gear is mind blowing. I swear you could make someone dragging their nails down a chalkboard sound good. Keep up the amazing work, I am always looking forward to your next video. Thank you for the kick in the ass that got me back into this. I’m setting up a preset in my boss gx100 with your settings at the moment, then gonna spend the rest of the day in it.

Hey Leon! I just bought one of these. It’s two years after you made this video, and, as usual, your approach to firing up a new piece of gear made it easy to get through the basic navigation of this gadget. I’ve watched videos and did some of my own poking around, but I eventually downloaded and printed the 95 page manual. I retired a few months ago, so I’ve got the time to fiddle around. Thanks, as always, for putting together a clear and concise tour through a this “new” electronic juggernaut.

I have one coming in tomorrow. I use a Helix floor at my gigs and it has way more than I'll ever use but it's housed in a heavy flight case and it's a drag to carry it around for a rehearsal or for a small gig where I don't need my Plexi preset, soldano preset, JTM45 preset...you get it. I just like how easy it was to get a really nice clean tone without a million parameters. I'll still run the Helix until it dies but it's nice to know there'll be a good back up and something I can take to a rehearsal without killing myself. Great video, great playing.

Your vid has got me even more excited about my decision to go with a Boss multi-effects unit, and I have no doubt this will do everything I need and more, rather than trying to build my own pedal board etc, which I had been playing around with. Now to delve deeper into the effects, amp modelling etc that you mentioned are detailed more in your GT-1000 vids. Keep up your fantastic work mate - very much appreciated!! Sean :)

It’s the early morning hours of Monday, 19 February, 2024 as I comment. I purchased a 100 on Friday, and I am really digging the presets. It’s giving me some great ideas on how to program my own patches for it. It was worth clicking on this video among others, if only for the reminder that devices like this one can be strictly used as an FX generator if you already plugged into an amplifier that you’re satisfied with. My MO for the last 17 years has been to use my paddleboard to model amplifiers and look for a direct line into a PA channel whenever possible. Unorthodox though that may be, I feel like it produces pretty decent results.

Simplicity goes a long way. The tone with just an amp and reverb was great, to start with! That gives you an idea of the quality and the thought that is put in a unit and how practical it is in real life situations, not a ton of effects and bizarre sounds to impress. You can have a good amp sound and then you add effects to taste. If your core tone is great then the effects are just the "pepper", the "mustard" and the likes that give you some different tastes! Very nice unit!
@thomasanderson92022 жыл бұрын
Very good points. I don't give a shit about zillions effects. I want to know the core amp sounds. If that sounds good alone then I know I have a good unit.

Because I saw some demos even from Boss, the out-of-the box presets sound dry for me, looks like mono too, not so good though! I am hesitating between GX-100 and Nux MG-30 which seems to me having good "ready-to-use" presets... Thanks! Edit: Oh, I put question too early (due to other clips seen and surprise when reaching here, before seeing the rest of your clip), it seems all that come out from GX-100 then!
