Leo Gibson , first of all you are a great guitar player which gives a broad amplitude of sounds when you are testing those guitar boards . Besides you are in my opinion the best person testing them with a full comprehensive explanation . Meanwhile , I feel more inclined to the GX-100 but the GP-200 does offer some details not available on the GX-100 . I know you can't give your straight opinion on them but a tip to unlock the undecidedness would be welcome :)

Hi Joao, thank you so much, these are all great compliments, that really make me happy!!! Well, let me say that it's really hard to give a "black" and "white" opinion...as there are many little differences and things for which one unit is better than the other one and vice versa. It really comes down to your needs and what you prefer, what it is important for you. For instance here you may prefer the GX 100 for it more flexible signal chain or for the touch screen, or you may prefer the GP 200 as it has more amps, and maybe there is an amp in the GP 200 that you like and that is not available in the GX 100...In this videos I try to show you all the differences in terms of features and tone...so that you can judge by your own which is better for you. Thank you once more!

Thanks a lot Leo for that valuable tip . I think I will write the pros and cons of each other . Besides those differences that you have mentioned did you perceived some differences in what sound is concern ? They sound pretty much the same but from what a heard the GX-100 gives a more solid sound . Maybe it's just my perception . Keep on playing on your wonderful environment :)

I'm really surprised that Valeton sounds more accurate than the Boss GX100. Even in the tweaked section, GP200 sounds even more accurate. I'm more of a tone guy and definitely, Valeton GP200 is my choice. It provides more Amp & speaker Cab realizations. And now GP200 already have a firmware upgrade which clears some bugs and added 6 more effects plus a 4x4 USB audio. Price-wise Valeton win hands down.

Ciao Leo! Splendido come sempre. In mano tua queste macchine suonano tutte bene!

Hello mr Leo Gibson, very nice video. Sorry for my bad English, I liked the tones from the units. For more than 20 years, i use to own pedalboards from Line 6, Digitech, Boss and Zoom. When i play alone, i almost never use boss multies, i prefer the tone from other brands. That changes when i rehearsal with my band, or play live gigs. The Boss fits better, especially when we play 2 guitars in the band. So for me, after all this years, Boss for the rehearsal and live gigs, the others for practicing home! Go figure out ... While i am having the GT100 for gigs, i am planning to buy the GX because of the effects carryover, touch screen and that i can program also bank up/down switches. These are improvements for me, for live use.

One thing to keep in mind with Boss, they have at least 4-5 different Marshall amp base profiles they have used in the various GT products. They all sound very different. I’m not sure which ones they loaded in the GX, but the GT1000 has multiple, and some are much closer to the plexi tone than others that are modeled more towards’59 or modern stacks.

One advantage of the Valeton is its looper - 180 seconds -AND- an undo feature. Otherwise, for me, the Boss wins. The ability to have multiples of the same effects is huge (multiple ODs or EQ's anyone?). Plus the level of control you have is scary - you can control multiple parameters (on/off or values) with one footswitch or pedal. Whatever you choose, the ability to get YOUR sound should be one of the highest priorities.

What I love from Valeton GP-200 are realistic amp sound, super easy to tweak, decent delay, reverb and OD, you can use fx loop in series or parallel, you can have global eq to adapt with your stage situation. The price is a half of boss gx, somehow barely use stereo scenario for live situation so i dont need parallel chain

I was struggling with GX100 for over a year. The main issue was getting a descent sound out of it. I don't need hundreds of effects and parallel chains that amount to nothing. The more I tweaked it the worse it got, it was very frustrating. I finally ditched it and will be trying GP200 next. I had GT-1 for years before it and I could swear it sounded better than GX100... Kinda reminded me of japanese hifi in the 80' - thin, pale and lifeless.

This is not an apples to apples comparison, the GX100 for instance needs a different cab selected, you need to also adjust which output you're using when recording, front of amp etc.. You can hear the gain over saturating the input which means that something is amiss on the setup for this causing the tinny/sound that others are hearing, this is not the case for the Valeton as it outputs XLR always in Line mode. I have the MKII as well as the Fender Deluxe Reverb, and a Fender twin, with the IR's assigned, cabs selected properly and it going, I am able to nail the tone, and the effects of the GX100 are much better than the Vale, if I was telling a friend what to buy their teen player , I'd say the Valeton simply because of the price, as it is 80% of the way there, the GX when configured sounds amazing and honestly is also a GT1000 killer if you don't need XLR, the difference in 32bit DAC vs 24bit DAC is not noticeable, the GX and GT are more musical in the response. Hopefully the video maker can look at some of the IR's offered and play with them so that they match the real amp and see what I am talking about as well in the output selection needed.

Let's face it the amp modelers are really closing the gap V's a real amp. I have always felt that boss did a great job in the effect department, but seems to still really lack in the high gain amps. The Boss GX sound pretty good on clean tones. Also the Boss GX has a nice interface, but I fell the Valeton GP-200 leaves the Boss GX in the dust for tone matching. The GP-200 sounds far more 3d and very close to the real live amps in this video. There are some good effects in the Valeton but the reverbs are a little lacking, Pitch-shifting could be better. Most are very useable. I have to say it would be hard to find a better modeler for the price (314.98 Amazon, US) of the Valeton GP-200. Can't wait until they build there next one. Oh bye way, I did own the Mooer GE-300 and it was nice but someone stole it out of my car (long story) and then I replaced it with the Fractal AXE 2 XL with the foot controller, but that stays in my studio. I think the Mooer sounded pretty good and had really nice reverbs, but I think this Valetron is pretty close to my Fractal tone wise, but I can do way more with the Fractal if I work it hard.

I purchased a new Boss GX100 . It has terrible presets but tweaked up real nice. Then it started autochanging parameters for no reason, switching patches and menus even. I had this same thing happen with Boss GT6 which turned the things into a useless paperweight. I suspect There is something very bad in the Boss design. I took it back to the shop and have to wait for them to find the fault, it is entirely random. That will be my last boss purchase After buying their product for over 40 years. i am going to try the Valeton. Boa noite! Sou brasileiro!

That Valeton sounds almost identical to the real amp, the Boss has it's own thing going on. I don't know how to explain it, it's got a different type of sound to it, where as the Valeton has the same fullness. Hey Leo, while watching the video I had a good idea. When you're running through your licks, if you could change the source of it mid riff you could hear the differences while the lick was playing since it's a DI track anyway. Just an idea. Great vid as usual. That Valeton is really impressive.

GX-100 has had an IR bug since launch which is probably why people are preferring the Valeton.

Hi, thank you for sharing. Actually I think IR is fixed now, but you are right, at its launch time, GT 1000 did not have the possibility to load IRs.

@@LeoGibsonGtr The GT-1000 IR bug has been fixed, but it has not been fixed in the GX-100, despite what the current firmware (v1.11) patch notes say. The issue has been proven to still exist by users on The Gear Page forum. Boss is aware and working on the issue. However, they seem to be sitting on the fix for a strategic NAMM release of the next firmware. BTW, the issue in the GX-100 isn't that it can't load IRs, it's that the IRs do not have full frequency response so they sound low-fi.

have to say i prefer the gp200. i do feel that the bass could be cut a little in the ir if possible from 150-200hz. it's a touch woolie and too much low end. but, it sounded way more three dimensional.
