Always a great professional review. I looked at both units. Having a Pod Go that I felt was not right for me, I watched your review of both units. I prefer the simplicity of the GP200. The mic feature is great, but isn't necessary for me. The large amps and cab section is very attractive, especially after the latest firmware update. I do like the size of the MG30. Not sure if the programming is easier than the GP200. After watching this video, and scoring an amazing price, I went with the GP200. So far it's been a blast to play and programming seems to be easier for me. Thanks for such informative product videos.

I have the NUX MG-30. First, as I am sure you are aware of, NUX released version 3 firmware yesterday. This adds a 5150 amp, a touch wah effect, and a bunch of other improvements including auto start for the looper. Also, my only complaint when I purchased the MG-30 was the lack of the balanced outputs. I went on Amazon and for $20.00 I purchased a 2 channel DI box, plugged the left and right outputs from the MG-30 into the DI box, and now I have both stereo balanced and unbalanced outputs coming from the DI box. Even with the extra cost of the DI box it is still less expensive than the GP-200. All problems solved and I love the NUX. I sold my Ampero 100 to buy the MG-30 because the Ampero did not have the FX loop and unfortunately there was no Amazon work around for that. Love your channel and keep up the good work. Also, please fire those horrible animated characters. You are a lot better and have more personality than they do. Maybe George Lucas can hire them.

@bsbrooks4552 жыл бұрын
@@cenaakashakash I use a device called Midi Commander. It adds 10 footswitches and 2 additional expression pedal inputs. However, if you are not connecting the midi through a PC, you need to insert a device between the Nux and the Midi Commander to act as a midi host device. There are examples of this to be found if you Google it. LMK if you have any further questions.

This is what the budget multieffects community are waiting for. Thanks for the video comparison. Both sound awesome. I pick GP200 due to more realistic Amp sound and with third party IRs it sound even better. Another is the footswitch options and the XLR output. But the GP200 lacks abit in the modulation sounds section, the effects is more than enough but it lacks the lustre quality of a real pedal effects or at least a Line 6 effects. As for recording you can't hear the difference between 44.1khz and 48khz.

If you use it as a USB audio interface to directly recording your guitar/bass to your PC, 48 KHz offers less latency which could be really desirable if latency is an issue for you, and thats why, at least in this regard the mg-30 pulls ahead of the GP-200 although for a little bit.

I went with the NUX MG30. Price point value is a killer deal braker. Yes, less effects but it's good not to have too many to bloat the software. Just enough so you can get the most out of the unit. Some FX units have too much stuff in there. The interface is ace. Amp simulations are ok, but paired with 3rd party IR's they shine really well. Doing just home recording.

Great video Leo and so much detail! It is what keeps me coming back! 👍🏻 A couple of suggestions for your future videos: It was a little difficult watching the comparison chart while it was floating and had the two computer voices on there. It was much better before when it was just you speaking over the comparison chart and it was a still image. The other suggestion would be when you are performing the real amp comparison to the modelers; would it be possible to include a high gain amp with a high gain metal tone in there as well for comparisons? It would be good to hear those differences as well. Also, time stamps for each comparison so we can flip back and forth to hear the differences would really be great too. Keep up the great work! This channel is one I always stop by to watch! 🎸
@LeoGibsonGtr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, thank you so much, both for the compliments and the suggestions! As regards the comparison chart, I wanted to do something more entertaining asI notice that basically the end of the chart (with full specs) is getting a lot of watch time, while the rest of the video not so much...as regards amps, I try to use the most touch sensitive amp I know, which is the plexi, in order to better hear the dynamic response of the amp, that is something a lot of you are curious to know about...in the future I can use more amps. Good points for the time stamps...I will try to do it. Thank you!

I'm an old school, less options and just play, meaning i love a simple valve amp and a few pedals for live. however, there are gigs where a small digital processor would work better, and for practicing at home, a big plus. i usually get two or three really nice base tones and don't dig too deep into the options, as you can find yourself tweaking and not playing. valeton does it for me. if recording, there are computer based programs to pull up cab/mic/ etc for expanded processing. i had a headrush, sold it as to expensive and unstable, and couldn't afford to run my valve amp set up and the headrush set up. this pedal is much more affordable.

Recently, I decided to buy a multi-effects pedal due to the great convenience it offers. However, with so many options available, I couldn’t decide which one to get-perhaps one was better than the other, or maybe one had better effects and more inputs. In the end, I narrowed it down to two pedals: the Nux MG30 and the Valeton GP200. I couldn’t decide between them as both are excellent, but honestly, I’m looking for sound quality and a wide variety of effects to suit the music I play.

I got a GP-200 a couple of weeks ago and it has replaced a real amp/cab rig in a live band situation. I now play DI into the mixer, using inEars. Needed some time to get used to it, but now I'm really happy with it. It has to be said that pretty much all these cheaper modelers need external IRs to really come to life. The built in cab section of the GP-200 is mediocre at best - that's my only real complaint about it. Oh, and I really hope they fix some of the software bugs (both AER acoustic amp models go completely silent after a couple of minutes...) and some usability issues with the PC software soon. Especially handling external IRs is a nightmare. Thumbs up for your detailed reviews and comparisons. Very informative!

Great comparison video and stellar demo song as usual. I don't think either one will make me sell my POD Go just yet, but if I didn't have a modeller already, I might be willing to try the Valeton. Much like others have commented, my only concern would be community and manufacturer support for updates. That was the reason I went Line 6 due to support and updates. Both the Valeton and NU-X sound fantastic. The other reasons the Valeton tipped the scales to me was the XLR inputs and additional foot switches. Both seem to be great units and bang for the buck. The song reminds me a Annihilator psychedelic lite rock style progressive power ballad. Also, Leo - I didn't know you hired The Sims npcs to showcase :) A very inventive idea. Maybe you should keep the format like on that video? On the other hand your voice over is way more natural. Still, it's been fun to watch some different approach. Oh and thx to you I bought my Valeton GP100. It's great but after watching so many comparisons (yours and other channels) I agree with you Ampero One MP80 is still the king of the budget deal. Like nothing beats it and it's very close to Helix, Axe and Kemper. Btw are going to cover a Donner Arena 2000? Not sure if you mentioned that in any of the videos that's upcoming but I see there's a serious problem that the brand is from UK and after Brexit no one but people from UK and US review that modeler/profiler. Not even Thomann has this yet which is a shame. It might be a big game changer. Hope one day you'll review/compare it. Keep up the good work and thx for your knowledge. While Taylor Danley is closer to my music taste, your tests are way more pro and insightful. So even if you don't use High Gain much and metal licks it still gives me an idea what this or that'd sound like.

@paul_henderson Жыл бұрын
@@LeoGibsonGtr Hey, thx for a so extensive reply! A few more notes from me: the reason you received mixed feedback is either you relied on it too much and it covered too much percentage of the tota video time or your audience is used to your voice and prefers videos in more traditional way. That being said - at some point you can try 3D tech again but sparingly (just to fill the cake with a strawberry topping). As for Arena, usually I collect used/2nd hand gear whenever I can so if it ever pops up, I'll put hands on it. But for now taxes are a deal breaker, like paying 1/3 of the device's value. Keep rockin'! \m/

Regarding the users that play live gigs, that's an added value, since you can assign the scenes to the footswitch (among other customizable options), and if you're like me, which I use just two scenes plus the expression pedal, you barely stomp the pedalboard. Thanks, Leo!!!!! One more thing: no one uses live more than a few amps. You don't really need 3000000 amps, you really need 10 good amps, (unless you want a specific one).

Thank you Manuel, I'm really happy that you like the review and to be part of your home...😀👍 Yes, the NMP2 is included with the MG 30. Thank you!

Leo. I know this is an old video, but the song on this was killer. Very very very cool. May I ask what scale(s) you used on the lead playing? Loved the sweeps and legato. Very cool and it sounded so cool. ❤ I am checking out the MG30 because I can get one pretty cheap. I really noticed that your real valve amp seemed to sustain longer to me. Maybe it was just me, but it seemed like especially the first modeller cut the note off almost like it had a gate even though I know you didn't use one. At the very end of the note sustaining it seemed to cut off the note to me. Both modellers sounded great especially with your IR. I agree balanced outs would be great for FOH live. Good stuff sir. Thanks again Leo. Love your videos and the animation ❤ Regards from South Central Indiana. USA. Tim .

Hi Leo , First things first I want to say that your playing is really exceptional 💯...and I want to ask some questions like 1. Which Effects unit would you prefer Valteton GP 200 or Zoom G5N or Nux MG30 for both Recording songs and Live playing as well , 2. Does Mg 30 have a Pitch shifter and a dedicated App? , 3. If Mg 30 has a dedicated App can we add more Effects , presets and patches from it ? , 4. Can u please explain what are IRs, Cabs and Mic Choice , 5. How Many Drummer Machine Presets are in Nux MG 30 , Valeton GP 200 and Zoom G5N? , 6. Is USB better than normal Midi in / out for recording , 7. Which Effects unit has a better quality ? , 8. Can we add extra looper time in NUX MG30 , 9. Is 30 seconds looper sufficient or not , 10. Which is the best value for the Money Effect unit ? .....Hope you would Answer my questions 😄 btw Thanks for the Great Video ✌️.

For me the only reason towards Valeton is polyphonic pitch shifter, that will let me transpose/drop tune my guitar. I think that amps sounds more or less same in both units (important is IRs that are used anyway). Looks like MG-30 has better effects quaility and I still dont copied if Valeton has option to have fx in parallel like MG-30 or not

Hi Leo and thaks for your great comparisons. Only 1 question: I often use the digital delay with modulations. Is this fx included on both multieffects? Thank you
Superb playing, kudos! With the gr200...Anyone knows if it's possible to control a parameter (gain, delay time, etc...) in real time with the expression pedal? And what are the differences between using patch, user or footswitch modes? Thank you all!

hi leo this video is amazing..but i want to ask your opinion about valeton gp 200 vs nux mg 30 in live situation with band (just about amp sim and drive pedal sound quality in live)..do you prefer which?because many people think nux mg 30 sound too sharp and thin in live with band..because i think you are excellent in this section

Hi, as far as I remember it has 11 blocks. S/R stands for Send and return...basically it is the loop for external effects. Thank you!

Hi Leo, why is no one showing a comparison between the Nux MG30 and the Hotone Ampero 2? they are clearly the best of the budget modelers but which one would you buy?
@LeoGibsonGtr2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, it would be for sure an interesting comparison. I didn't do it yet, mainly because there is a pretty important price difference (around 250 for the MG 30 and around 500 for the Ampero, and therefore it would be a little bit unfair) and they a have different form factor (the stomp 2 is a more direct competitor of the Helix HX or the BOSS GT 1000 core). Nonetheless it is for sure interesting.....
@MrPhotomiked2 жыл бұрын
@@LeoGibsonGtr good point. with respect to tone the NUX MG30 punches above its price point and can likely match a pricier Ampero 2. But the feature set and added flexibility in the signal chain and amp/preamp/ir and efx configurations explain and justify the price difference of the Ampero 2. A comparison based on tone alone would be interesting nonetheless.

Good afternoon Leo, Excellent comparison. I definitely will have to agree with you I feel as though the balanced out will be necessary in live performance. The additional stomp buttons also will come in handy. If only the kHz was at least 48k this unit would really be a top winner at the price point of $350... But the MG 30 sounds very good as well and the ability for my position is a huge plus!! Plus the sample rate and kilohertz frequency is perfect!! The app looks great and the ability to build parallel effects is another huge plus! This definitely makes it a winner for home use!! A few questions: Is there a noticeable sound difference between the two 44.1khz and 48khz when listening back through average stereo system CD quality type equipment? Is it possible for the company in a firmware upgrade to increase the kilohertz to 48? About the latency? did you notice anything extreme or distracting between either the two units? The IR's that were used in your comparison... are they your custom IR's? How do they compare with the original unit cabs... Do they have the greenback and Jensen speakers as an option to choose? Thank you my friend excellent comparison... I like the changes that you made great... balance of everything. I enjoy your creative ideas and changes to make your evaluations and product reviews more entertaining Once again excellent work!!!
@LeoGibsonGtr2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I try to answer: - no, there is not a noticeable / audible difference - it is not impossible, but it would mean that the hardware is already ready to manage 48 kHz, and it would be strange to have an hardware capable limiting it via software - I didn't noticed any noticeable latency problem with either of the two units - Yes, I have used my own custom IRs, that you can find here: www.leogibsonguitar.com/shop-online/p/leo-essential-irs - the greenback is available...I don't if the Jensen is available. Being my own IRs I can not say anything...:)... but for sure good IRs are very important for the overall tone I'm super happy that you like the changes introduced...I'm trying to make the videos more interesting and entertaining... I'm happy that you appreciate it!!!!
