Even though the Katana range has been incredibly successful from a commercial point of view I don't believe all that many people fully appreciate just how good these amps truly are: BOSS set out to provide everything a modern guitar player could possibly need for the principal genres of music, with an emphasis on 'Rock' & 'Blues', (Jazz also!) these amps produce a true analog amplifier range of tones, which is why they are said to be 'tube-like' I am a player who has preferred tube amps, I have owned Fender Twins, Peavey Classic 50, Ampeg 50, VOX-I now use my Katana 100 watt MKI, the first version, and I record with it, play live, it is an incredible guitar amplifier, thanks Dave for introducing me to this amp! Cheers

Dave the opener here is really something. No B.S. this could bring tears of joy. And that is a lovely guitar sound. I'm no tone snob but man that sounds fantastic. And it melts into mellow feedback. Someday I will get a katana but for now it's cool just to listen to players like you who show that this is one great workhorse amp. Solid state or tube or hybrid or modeler sound is all I care about. That opener was something I could come back to again and again. You captured the sound very well too. that was great to hear. Be well Dave and know I ain't B.S, you. That was amazing. Rock on!

That Artist sounds awesome! Great demo Dave! As Dave said, maybe the Artist is not in reach of everyone, that said the 100 and 50's are great amps. As for mod's for a 100 or a 50 Mark2 I would go with a Musician Tools version 2 line out jack. 35.00- 40.00 bucks, easily installed and works great! It has the ability to play with internal only, internal and external, or external only. I put one on both my 50 and 100 and it works like a champ! Boss makes versatile amps for the money. I might have to save up for the Artist, it sounds great.

Got a reworked encore strat shaped. It is left handed black and white as usual with them. It cost me pennies from a second hand shop/ After watching the 'reviewers' on yt I had a go my self with the 'forensics'. By looking at the marks it was owned by a pink fllloyd fan and was played in e minor mostly. From the 12th fret onwards there are a lot of marks. The frets and fret board are graduated. I did not notice that when I bought it. I only bought to use while my good one was being re fretted. It has full size jumbo on the first 4 frets and they gradually narrow down to thin at the 21st fret. Firstime I have seen one like that. I wonder if he has. He has had a lot more to do with the various make than me.

The thing with boss is that they’re kind of like the Japanese peavey. Obviously boss is bigger and still going strong but they had a similar idea. A product so reliable you could throw it off a cliff and never miss a beat for reasonable prices and available to everyone. Their pedals are basically bricks with electronics inside. Whether you like how their products sound or not, you know when you buy one it’s not their fault you don’t like it, it’s yours. Personally, to my ear, the katana lacked low end and didn’t give me the sound I wanted so I moved it along, but my problem with it had nothing to do with build quality or anything. I just couldn’t get my sound with it. Maybe I should try again cuz Dave seems to get his to work just fine 😂

Roland is very much part of this with their cleanest solid state amps and and early digital tech. Over 40 years ago I owned a JC60. Amazing. You can always add over drive , now you don’t need an outside pedal, or extra cash to get the sound, it is already there. Guitarist have more junk to set up than the drummer nowadays. Dave I really enjoyed the melodic sweet but sad intro jam! This is why I play guitar.
