Fryette Power Station & UAD Audio Ox got together and had a monster baby! Boss basically looked at all the attenuation features across all brands and brought everything into one Swiss Army knife attenuator/100watt amp/IR loader/DSP effects & switchable impedance curve which is unique to the Boss Amp Expander. Great job Boss!!! 👍👍👍

@stevethebeeline445 жыл бұрын
pastorkev777 ah yes, something that only seemed to feature on the Fryette Power Station. Boss have brought out some great stuff (Katana amps & Ms-3 multi effect looper switcher) but still I would choose tube amps and traditional pedal boards more out of habit than resistance to new stuff. But this Waza Tube Amp Expander seems like it has no rival. Most expensive by €130 above the Ox but definitely worth it. This paired with some nice pre-amp pedals and you could ditch the bulky amps if so desired!

Jeremy, thanks for watching. I'll make it easy for you: it takes the roaring tone of any given tube amp and makes it more manageable to listen to in quiet or recording environments. Additionally, it adds beautiful effects and an effects loop where there may not have been one. You can listen to your amp through a ton of different 'virtual' speaker cabinets and basically just enjoy your amp a whole lot more without freaking out the household, your ears, or those of the neighbours. That's about 20 wins. :D

Price might seem high to some but given it has a built-in 100W amp AND all that other functionality is astonishing. The fact that it has footswitch control function for your existing amp is mind blowing. Some really clever minds came together to create this beastie! Unlike some gizmos I've seen demo'd for once I 'get it' right off the bat! I could see even a garage band with two guitar players ending the 'loudness' battle by each using these and running guitars to FOH and letting the mixing board rule the volume war. Tons of possibilities!! I think I'm going to have to get a mayonnaise jar to start saving for this! (Old school savings plan) Cheers and hope you're well!

Tone is one thing, but some of the point here, would be the feel of the reactive load when you play. No demo on YT, or any other media, can show this unless you play yourself. The load itself, can't be changed in any other unit, that I'm aware of. IR's, fx etc: Yes, go nuts. The Load itself: No , only TAE can do this (happy to be corrected) I haven't tried the Boss TAE, so until I try it myself, it's an open game.

I got the chance of trying one with my Two-Rock Studio Signature dialed in at the sweet spot, through a 2x12 cab today. It's an amazing product. I ordered one on the spot. Can't wait for it to arrive. The reactive loads are amazing. The feeling is amazing, the tone isn't changed, everything feels super dynamic. Yes, it's expensive, but all the things you can do with it, is mind blowing. The built in effects are really really good, and the beauty of the effects is that it's after the amp! It gives the amp all the room to be itself and isn't affected by impedance or capacitance changes. This thing deserves the name Tube Amp Expander. And I didn't even try the line out, the effects loop, the IR's you can load in, or the headphone option. It's vastly superior to anything in this gear segment (yes, also the OX from Universal Audio). Boss has knocked this out off the park. This is coming from somebody who doesn't like Boss pedals at all, I don't even own a boss pedal.

colaboytje Hello Colaboytje I have a question for you... i tried a TAE today with my Two rock Classic Reverb and I don’t know why but my clean sound wasn’t clean as the ampli without TAE!!!! I run my Two Rock at noon for gain and Volume and with TAE my sound is always muddy and distorted much more than the real at real volume!!! Did you notice something similar or do you think my TAE have a problem. I tried many combination of loading but the clean sound is always much more distorted than the real sound. Which combination of loading do you prefer or use with two Rock? I have the 2x12 and the 1x12. Thanks for the replay P.s sorry for my English I’m from italy😜
@colaboytje5 жыл бұрын
@@libertystudios69 Yes, it does seem to distort a bit sooner. But not muddy at all in my case. Actually, it seems to be more open. I use high-mid + high-mid for my 2x12 Two-Rock cabinet with Celestion Cream Alnico speakers (best speakers I've ever played through). I don't understand why it sounds muddy with your amp. I have 2 Two-Rock amps: Traditional Clean and the new Studio Signature. Make sure you have the output wattage on the TAE on 100 watt. The Studio Signature is only 35 watts, but it clips the input stage of the TAE on 50 watts. You could turn the gain down on the amp a bit, and set the speaker volume on the TAE a bit higher. Also, use the editor that you can download from the Boss website, so you can set the EQ just like you want it. It works great. I still don't understand why it's muddy with your amp though.

Fantastic review, Brother! You're enthusiasm is infectious and you are very articulate ... even at a quickened pace...ha ha. Would you be saying, then, that this Boss Waza attenuator would be your first choice for an attenuator. Today is the first time I'm hearing about this product. For a month I've been researching every type of attenuator out there and narrowed my interest down to two: the Ox amp top box, and the Fryette PS-1OO Power Station... and leaning more towards the latter, because it seems to have the majority of all the features but for $400 less. Do you have any experience and/or thoughts about these two attenuators? Or, would the Boss be your only choice, hands down? I would just like your honest opinion. I'll still choose the right one for me, though. Thanks for posting!
