Vaan is my favorite MC in all final fantasy, he's just a normal guy that got thrown into an insane group of people and ended up helping save the whole world. He's not destined, he's not all powerful, he's just doing his best.

Rather than atone.... He just wanted to save rabanastre from total destruction. Zargabaath is a man of reason, the most level headed within the judge magisters. And to him the destruction and death of rabanastre and her populace is unreasonable and unnecessary. And therefore he tries to save her in the only way he knows is open to him which is to ram it and use the e Detonationn of his flagship to propel bahamut even more from the city. So yeah Imo rather than seeking atonement zargabaath is just singularly trying to save rabanastre.

Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions is good but it's a tactics game. Great story though. The story is better in that game IMO. No other final fantasies are like this one so I couldnt recommend anything else. Tactics and FF12 take place in the same world of Ivalice. Tactics takes place WELL after I think. Balthier is in that game as a cameo party member lol.

FF14 is really good if you have patience for MMOs (technically very similar to FF12 gameplay wise since 12 was already trying to play like 11), it still is very story focused and Shadowbringers has one of the best stories in any FF game.

Basch went through pain a lot of times. When his homeland was destroyed and he and his brother went separeted ways, when he couldn't protect Rasler, when he couldn't protect the King Raminas and the princess Ashe, when he was arrested by the empire and "became a traitor". One word that defines Basch is resilience!

I just finished this game and loved it. I'm in a minority in that I really liked Vaan though especially since it felt like Balthier treated him the way he wished he could have lived at his age. Raised him essentially, and showed him the ropes while letting him make decisions for himself. I really don't care about "main characters" in games and just like that they all felt like part of the world and story. Havn't enjoyed a cast and world from an FF game this much since FF6.

Actually it’s not just British - the setting is very much Middle Eastern heavy. Dalmasca is based on Damascus, Syria and a lot of the architecture style and decoration is Persian. Archades has Middle East influence too. Rozzaria appears Russian influenced from Al-Cids’s accent. And Bhujerba accent and key technical words used are Indian/Sanskrit.

Vaan was shoehorned in mid development just so the game had a teenage kid that people would like. He wasn't even originally going to be part of the game. The true protagonists are Balthier and Ashe.

But its changed when they thought of his family which he has a younger brother. Its odd that's the control were for him. I also can tell that it was suppose to be another female lead game with ashe, Penelope and the other girl in party. And i think the character build on the grid or graph was suppose to be the main core of the game since ff10. But instead, we get traditional level ups and get the license to use items and upgrades on the board.

It is rather a grave misfortune, that for the sake of her people at large, the personal bonds she's made to those who have grown close to her would have to come as secondary concern. That is the weight she bears as heir, who by burden of blood must ensure the peace and safety over the kingdom she must now rebuild after years of tyrannical rule from an opposing empire. She remains distant yes, but she hasn't forgotten. At least, I would think not.

If you're getting the remastered version (FFXII Zodiac Age), I will warn you that the license board is different from the original PS2 game, but it does help to make sure you use all the characters instead of power building 3 and then getting fucked when you have to switch to the other 3.

Eh, years later... whatever. If you like fanfics, there is an amazing (sadly unfinished) one that fleshes out the backstory. Moments in another time by twigcollins. You will never look at the characters in the same way after that... Vayne's motivations, what Cid really thinks of his son, Ashe's not-so-noble quest, why Larsa is the way he is, why he trusts his brother and how that makes complete sense. A whole EPIC 9 chapters on how Fran and Balthier met and I've reread it so many times over the years I can't even count. It's just... I can't praise it enough, ok? It's what I _wish_ the game story was. Just tons and tons. It's a series on AO3 or one long fanfic on FFnet. It diverges a little, but hasn't gone into the game far enough to really spin away.

I really enjoyed this game. The storyline itself was a bit hard to follow at times and for me didn't leave the same everlasting mark as the one from FFX. However I really enjoyed the characters and their development and Balthier and Fran made a cute and badass pair all the way. The gameplay and setting designs were awesome too. Loved the variety and how open it all was. Definitely feels underappreciated compared to its predecessors. i wish FF 13 was better in those aspects. Felt way too linear and automatic for my taste however I've been enjoying FF15 a little better so far. Either way I definitely want to buy this version for the PS4 and relive it.

yesterday i've finished my final fantasy 12, 25 aug 2023 .. and this marked the 6th final fantasy games i've beaten. first is 9 then 8, 7, then 6 and then 10 and yesterday 12. all ff games are awesome on their own way.. and the music kiss me good bye by nobuo uematsu hit me the most

I love the poetry of Basch using Gabranth's name to stop the attack. The game started with Gabranth using Basch's name to murder King Raminas, kill Recks and bring Dalmasca under complete imperial rule, it ends with the complete opposite to save lives and free Dalmasca from imperial rule.

FF12 did have the best storyline until Remake & Rebirth came, but I still loved the whole FF12 storyline since it was of war and didn’t focus on romance entirely like other FF games. FF12 was the start of the change of FF battle system.
