I'm a reefer so I don't keep discus, but I've always found them to be a very nice looking fish, but they seem to lack character and be too skittish for me!

I’m raising juvenile wild caught discus and they’re not skittish at all. They learn to follow you around like any other fish. Just got to keep their tank in a busy room.

@@guy8646 it's like socialisation with a dog haha! My uncle used to keep discus but he had some work done to bis home and they got stressed and unfortunately he lost them all and he never went back to discus in the end!

Did you ask them about their water? Chicago is known for pretty hard water. Do they soften the water in their tanks?

No its just aged lake Michigan water

The discus are in regular Chicago tap water which is medium hardness. Discus can acclimate to most hardnesses and pHs. We are at 225 ppm tds and pH 7.6

We sell discus so they are here only a short period of time. Also we do large water changes every other day, so we need to keep the tanks bare for maximum efficiency.

anyone remember Kennys discus...he had access and sold Thailand discus 100s of different discus patterns and colors and also worked directly with breeders overseas with no middleman..unfortunately he passed...was a great person with huge discus follwing
