All geese are protective and tell about strangers....in former wartimes they even alerted about men on horses coming about half an hour, before the strangers arrived. They are alarming their folks and the other geese, very social....and that s why I can t eat them! ....and no mammels....

He needs a goose friend. They are happy with ducks but his best life would be with another goose. Hard to introduce another male at this point maybe. But it depends upon his age, size, etc. I've introduced mates to a mourning male and had to try 2 females before the 3rd was perfect for him and us too. We agreed he needed a nice and in his case humble, shy, sweet girl goose. My guy thought he was a tough guy, like James, but wasn't also. We knew a very nice breeder who would take back the mean girls. It probably would be good if opposite genders to find - I think - he is White Chinese Goose. And they are LOUD. I love their voices! He's insecure because geese are prey animals and feel better in a flock for their own safety but feel much happier with another goose. I've been loving geese for over a decade and I've had to "replace" a mate; find another goose for the one who lost. James lost a hugely important connection and mate when he lost his first bonded family but happily he has bonded to you, your family, and the flock. He was probably mourning (they do) the lost of his first family for a while. They are very emotion, caring, sweet, giving animals. My hair has also been full of goose spit because they have preened my feathers on my head. You have a good goose and can't now easily give him away, not that you are. But I'm saying because they get deeply emotionally attached. They are full of love and emotion. Love them, and their loyalty goes on and on.

I love James the goose but I feel sad tonight because I saw on Instagram of pictures of dogs and I started to cry because I miss my dogs I wish my dogs was here with me tonight and in site so I can see my dogs with my eyes I was eating dinner and then I remember that my dogs would come and beg at me for my food
