I love the Hyperion Tempo. It can handle a cruising long run comfortably (14 miles @6:45 pace) and mile repeats down at 5:10-5:20 5k pace. I did swap the laces though because the stock ones were shit. I threw in some old Turbo 2 laces and it is WAY better.

I’m loving the Continental rubber on the adidas shoes at the moment. Super durable and grippy. That and a bigger toe box make the Boston 9 sound like a winner to me.

I don't understand their strategy. When I go to their Canadian site, they have dozens of inferior running shoes available and such an underwhelming variety of the "good ones" like Boston and Adios. Then when they do finally get some additional stock of colours and sizes in the popular shoe models, they offer them at 30+% discount so they sell out very quickly. Now they have SL20, RC, and some confusing heavier options with Boost that I can't keep track of. Just make more Boston and Adios shoes!

This is awesome! Thanks for comparing these two. After realising that the Rincon won’t work w me feet, these two are the next shoes I’ve been considering for that first marathon. Bc I’m on the Brooks Ghost 12, the Hyperion night just do the trick. Again, thank you 🤙🏽

I have and enjoy both of these, and while they don’t have as much stack height as upcoming options like Endorphin Speed or current ones like NovaBlast, that lower profile is much more stable. Both make me run fast! I agree Boston 9 is not only roomier in the toebox compared to v.8 (while retaining the nice snug mid-foot I like), but the upper is lighter and more breathable. However, I’m glad I still picked up a spare of v.8 original all Boost. My original is still going strong @200 mi. I think Adidas will probably come out with non-Boston-Marathon colors now that the Sept. event has been cancelled. I just noticed the Adizero Pro is now available for pre-order on RW, too.

Hey Mike. I think you should consider trying the Reebok run fast 2.0. Best tempo/sppedwork shoe in my opinion. Peba midsole goodness, very well priced and imo a killer look

kofuzi I definitely would pick the new balance rebel… The second I put on the Rebel I felt it was going to be a faster tempo run as opposed to when I first put on the Brooks.

Never run in a Boston before but if Adidas widened up the toe box I’m all ears, since that has traditionally been a sticking point with me and Adidas shoes. As for the Tempo, I really like it but I’ve noticed that it just has dismal traction on wet pavement. For $150 I feel like a shoe should stick to the dang ceiling if you need it to.

JB de Joya I was ware of that model and loved the colorways but didint work out for me as they didnt make a wide version for sale here in the Philippines unlike Boston 5 & 8 in which they did. This 9 Feels like a wide version already. Keep safe buddy

I love the Boston 9 and I'll probably never run in the Tempo, but if you prefer it, it must be good. Glad that there wasn't really a down side to either shoe. When shoes are good, there isnt really a need to dog for the smallest things to complain about.

I have the tempos. They are great for my speed runs but I notice my knees are sore after I run in them a few days in a row. Not sure if the support isn’t enough or if my body is just getting used to them. Either way it’s a great shoe to throw in to my faster efforts.

Boston is so thin in the forefoot for me. I usually get pain if I run in them too much. I wish they moved just a little bit material from the heel to the toe area.

Endorphin speed also would be in the same price level and category. I would rather have the endorphin speed than the Brooks just because I feel like the rocker or speed roll thing would help later in the end of a race or a long run.

A couple quick points here. This question asks about the Hyperion Tempo, and the comment is on a video I made like 3 years ago. Fast forward to this year, and there is no longer a shoe called the Hyperion Tempo. Brooks currently sells a shoe called the Hyperion, which is the successor to the Hyperion Tempo. And while I have not tested the new Hyperion and can’t comment on the precise changes to this model over the past three years, this is Brooks we are talking about and I will presume that the shoes are still pretty similar. On the other hand, the Boston 12 is substantially different compared to the Boston 9. It’s bigger, heavier, and much less of a speed oriented shoe.

For a race it has to be the Adios. It's perfect for the 10k distance, especially at its price point. Even half marathons are great with the Adios, though a more cushioned premium shoe such as the Vaporly would be better.

Mr Random love them one of my most favourite shoes. Very stable and light , 40 miles in them in 2 weeks and I have many many shoes as you know. Soft but firm, weird description but true. I echo everything the FOD runner says in his review. Just get them , 90 day trail, can’t go wrong.

Japanese health ministry released a statement which said wearing masks isn’t needed if you are in the outdoors and you can keep 2m distance from others. If you believe Japanese Corona measures, you don’t need to wear masks during your run.

Most people read that as you don’t need masks if you are outdoors. But it’s (1) if you are outdoors AND (2) if you can maintain social distance. Can you always maintain social distance when running city streets in Chicago? If not, you should have a mask, if you believe the Japanese health ministry. (I assume for the sake of argument that you are accurately summarizing the Japanese health ministry’s advice. I have not personally fact checked that).

I've been running in the Boston 9's recently and my first run I was hating the shoe ( in a fun way). Recently been getting back into running and I picked the Boston 9 to go clock a few miles in and ended up going way faster than I was trying to go. Overall it's a fun shoe so far😂

Kofuzi, please consider reviewing Brooks Revel 4 which is supposed to come out in Aug. Revel 3 got universal praise in the reviews I found, and had little to do with prior versions, and now v.4 will have a new midsole that is more responsive. It’s really an underrated shoe in terms of attention.
