You'll never see singers like this anymore. He was a genius. Too bad mental health, drugs and alcohol take a toll on the good ones. I hate living in the new age. Born in 86, grew up on all this. Music today stinks.

In 1976, I was 11 years old and received my first guitar. Boston was and always will be an inspiration to me. In the 90's, my older brother passed on a chance to play bass with Boston because of a girlfriend. Currently, I am working on an acoustic version of this song. It's hard to find other musicians who have enough passion for this song to do it justice. Brad's voice was incredible, and we were blessed to live in these times.

Beautiful. Incredible voice. This version is a lot different. I like the ending on this one better, though, with Delp singing “no moreee” and Scholz shredding the riff that was repeated. I don’t know how to put it well, but it sounds very emotional, and way better than the current song’s ending. Both are incredible though.

This is a very different sounding version of what was ultimately recorded. I enjoyed hearing it and feel like I have another “new” Boston song to savor. I’m sorry this band didn’t enjoy longevity and stay on the same path they begun on. That being said they are solidly a top 5 favorite band of mine. It’s so sad that Brad Delp took his life. What a fabulous voice he was blessed with.

Many 70s era bands used to do this. They would write new songs on the road and sneak them into the set. Record, review and analyze to make the arrangements stronger. Perhaps a verse is too long or a chorus too short. RUSH routinely did mini-tours of 5 to 10 concerts to "shakeout the kinks" of new material before they recorded them. Van Halen did this on their first tour. It's harder to do this now because of automation with sound and lighting. Plus, modern audiences are more jaded and impatient with songs they don't know.

The evolution of a song is very interesting. I've always been intrigued by demos & early live recordings such as this one. Kicking off the studio arrangement of this one with a piano was an immeasurably great decision but it's cool to hear the original concept here. 💪🏻 I've written & recorded a few songs myself and it's equally interesting to listen to the original "just get something on tape" recordings & compare them to the finished products. 👍🏻 🇺🇸
