Cooley’s grasp of Baroque embellishment is stunning and delightful for this listener. His execution near flawless - pitch, dynamics, enhancement of the deeper messages of the text. All there. My only wish is I could have been there that evening and drank it all in that night. Magnificent!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I like how the voice and the orchestra aren’t competing. There’s a lovely balance and the tenor voice here doesn’t use too much vibrato which means you can clearly hear all the instruments. I quite enjoyed this 😊

Wonderful! I love how he starts without vibrato and then adds it at the end of the phrase

And Martin also, I believe he is the one driving Boston Baroque for decades now. There is an old vid of Messiah by this group and it is my favorite version.

This recording made me realize how oratorio singing differs from opera singing! Thomas Cooley is great! I can imagine the ideal soloists of this oratorio today: alto - Jakub Józef Orliński; soprano - Fatma Said; tenor - Thomas Cooley; baritone bass - Philippe Sly.

Una auténtica maravilla. Mr. Cooley, canta usted como entiendo que se debe cantar Händel, con un estilo puramente barroco. Su interpretación es toda sentimiento.

"Comfort Ye" (from Handel's Messiah) "Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness; prepare ye the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God." (Isaiah 40: 1-3) Ev'ry valley shall be exalted, and ev'ry moutain and hill made low; the crooked straight and the rough places plain." (Isaiah 40: 4)

Otra forma de interpretación. Buen manejo de la dinámica haendeliana. Nunca había escuchado este tipo de variaciones. La duda es la siguiente: admite Haendel hacer variaciones o exige rigor a lo escrito en la pauta para cada cantante?
