Imagine being 13 years old, just entering junior high school, and then Boston breaks, and Queen had just done "A Night at the Opera," KISS puts out "Destroyer," Rush "2112," Genesis "Trick of the Tail," Thin Lizzy "Jailbreak," Aerosmith "Rocks," ELO "A New World Record," Blue Öyster Cult "Agent of Fortune," Steve Miller Band "Fly Like an Eagle" Man, I feel so lucky living through that.

Why such bitter comments about the Singer and the fact that the band is carrying on without Brad Delp? We all miss Brad. He was one of a kind. However, the band carrying on means that Boston's music lives on. In this day and age of shitty music, I'm happy to see Boston out there playing rock n roll. Tommy DeCarlo and Beth Cohen are excellent choices to carry on the Boston legacy. They sound great here and are even better live without all the KZbin compression.

Journey, also a good example of carrying on as well. Tommy got the job on a tv talent show, and even Barry Goudreau remarked how much Tommy sounded like Brad at the tribute show...plus, having seen both, Tommy is like a 30-something Brad, voice strength-wise...

In the original lineup Brad Delp had help from Barry Goudreau. If you watch some of the live performances of Boston in the early years you can see it. Check out a More Than a Feeling video from the 70's. They are on KZbin. But you can see them taking turns with the vocals. It actually surprised me but was an "ah ha" moment as well. Seeing that explains why it seemed like Brad was recorded on 2 tracks. It always seemed like he was singing and then near the end of a verse you would hear what sounded like him singing over himself. So now I know, it was Barry Goudreau singing backup and harmonies. Now all that being said, Brad was able to hit those high notes but I think sharing them prolonged that ability I would bet. I have seen some videos where you could see it very easy because of how they recorded the video and then others you kind if have to look for it. Barry had a range in his voice as well. He was the other guitar player in the band.
@tcrane86306 жыл бұрын
@@Colhogan06 barry only sang live and was never on a Boston album vocally. As good as this new singer is, he has ZERO stage presence... zero.. Odd, when you see stuff from '79, it's actually better and fuller with less.. Which is hard to believe.
@Colhogan066 жыл бұрын
@@tcrane8630 I stand corrected. It just occurred to me you were referring to Barry and not Brad. What you said is very possible and probably true. I will take your word on that one. If he did not sing on the album then they probably did record Brad on 2 tracks. That being said, I think Barry does do a good job in concert making them sound as one. In concert in the early days you couldn't tell it wasn't all Brad unless you watched specifically who was singing. Anyway if you read my prior post, my apologies. I guess I need to be a little more observant.
@keviniles87486 жыл бұрын
@@tcrane8630 I'd agree with the stage presence thing, but then again the dude used to work at Home Depot and was not a born rock star. TBH Brad was not necessarilly king of the stage either. Most of the time he just stood there and sang, holding his guitar even when he wasn't playing. With Boston it's always been about the music and what Tommy lacks in panache he makes up for with his pipes. He does Brad proud. I've seen him perform several times now and he always does a good job. I got to meet him after a show as well and he was very friendly and humble.
