Started watching hockey in 1970. My all time favorite player was Cam Neely, just as tough as he was a talented goal scorer. A year or two after he came to the Bruins from Vancouver management actually asked him to back on on his fighting a bit so he could become the goal scorer that he became. American hockey fan knowledge right there
@mikes38275 жыл бұрын
@@6hughmungus9 Dude, PLENTY of knowledgeable American hockey fans (I'm one). Do I wish the NHL was more than a regional sport in the US? Absolutely. In Canada, it's essentially a religion, which is awesome. That said, being from arguably the greatest pro sports city (Boston) in the world (in terms of dynasties/outstanding moments/all-time great players), Boston is thankfully one of America's hardcore hockey cities. Assuming you're a Canuck (Canadian slang vs. the douchebag fan base in Vancouver), let me put your "knowledge" to the test? While subjective, who do you think is the NHL's greatest all-around player ever? I can offer up some names (Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, Bobby Hull, etc.), but at the expense of sounding biased, I'd say Bobby Orr. While he's Boston's "adopted son" from his playing days until now, Orr is STILL (and forever will be) a God in the Greater Boston area. Seriously, as great a player as he was (EASILY the best all-around, IMO), he's an even better human being. Parry Sound, Ontario should be eternally proud to have produced one of the classiest, kindest, most generous human beings ever put on this planet in Orr. (Note: you might be wondering why I excluded Wayne Gretzky's name? Gretzky is HANDS-DOWN the greatest SCORER in NHL history, but he wasn't known for his defense, couldn't fight or play physical, and while a very good skater, he didn't fly like the wind like Orr or Coffey or Bobby Hull did. Hence the greatest ALL-AROUND label, and why I had to omit "The Great One" from the list.)

Pasternak couldn't even shoot the puck in that 2nd round , And Bergeron had a groin injury. But hey, That's hockey. Hopefully this year Bruins go all the way again. They are currently the best team in NHL.

Those fukn refs let Boston run around playing dirty cuz for some reason the rules change in the playoffs, marchand was punching sedin in the face over and over while the ref just watched, and if sedin punched back he'd get the penalty or they'd both be taken to the box which wither way would be a win for Boston
@Shatamx5 жыл бұрын
Ross Robertson Ironic considering it was a dirty hit that charged up the Bruins team. Bruins were dead in the water. Then Rome woke us up. Thanks Rome! Btw Boston had more penalty minutes so funny you blame the refs lmao.
@Shatamx5 жыл бұрын
Nobody Important I was literally there for the Boychuck run in. We all thought he was diving. We felt awful when we saw he was hurt. As for the Bruins taking shots. Vancouver did the same thing. Burrows waking Thomas glove when he covered the puck. Hansen taking runs at Ference and neutering McQuiad in game 7 was just as classless.
@rossrobertson6745 жыл бұрын
@@Shatamx wasn't even a dirty hit, if Boston was up 2-0 in the series they wouldn't have thrown him out of the game, plus Boston should've had more penalties, they get away with the small stuff cuz of how dirty the other stuff is, it makes no sense that a penalty is a penalty until the playoffs start

I heard a theory from someone once that one big hit knocks you out is better than a dozen smaller hits not knocking you out. The number of punches adds up. Not sure if this is true but it might be a reason why heavyweights last longer.

From Boston area, played hockey for 20 years in the 70's and 80's. I've crushed my sinuses and broken my nose so many times, I can't afford to get hit in the head anymore. My father was worried about me and my temper when I was young, much better now. And I hated the crap that was done to Buckner, blame the coach. Stapleton always went in the the late innings for defensive reasons because Buckner's knees were so bad. Guess coach wanted Buckner on the field when Red Sox won the world series, how did that work out????
