None of the footage of Boston was considered the "Hood", but some of the areas are rough with all of the houses being cluttered together along with the narrow streets. The gentrification is on heavy throughout Boston especially in the Dorchester and Roxbury areas with all them condominiums popping up. Also the footage in the beginning of the video was definitely not the hood which is an area next to Brookline "Jewish-Town" and Jamaica Plaine. Coming from a person thats from Boston’s inner city and is currently living here i can tell you yes these neighborhoods look nice. But thats cause of gentrification, these town homes and nice houses you see were once rundown homes , abandoned houses , foreclosures , empty lots. That have been filled to make the city appear nice. Housing projects are being tore down to make these town homes. Rent is basically unaffordable so people moving out the city. Crime gone down in some parts. Risen in the suburbs like , fall river , newbedford , tauton , brockton. But do not get it twisted, looks are deceiving violence still reigns supreme . 5:15 you see that light pole on the right . It has shot spotter technology to pin point location in event of a shooting. (Look it up) we have these all over . My city aint what it was but dont come here thinking shits sweet cause it aint. Compared to NY. NJ, Philly, LA, Chi-town, Detroit, Boston is not "hood" per say. There are some spots along Blue Hill Ave, Dorchester, Mattapan and Roxbury that could be considered rougher areas. Overall, I felt pretty safe out there. I'm from Newark, NJ and when I saw these hoods, I was like this doesn't seem a like a hood to me. I lived in MA for 12 years. Springfield, Lynn, and Lawrence have some rough spots as well. It's a whole different vibe up there.

Go to Lynn MA please. But in general streets don't turn into a jungle till summer too brick out

Go to Brockton, Ma, Lawrence Ma, New Bedford as well, especially during the summer time. Honestly think some of those towns are worse than most neighborhoods in Boston.
@PalmerEldritch235 жыл бұрын
mike whitlinger Fall River too. Real depressing down there though New Bedford’s trying. It’s funky cool in places. Nashua NH, Lewiston/Auburn/Bangor ME those places are WHACKED.

Say, I just checked out the rent on a one-bedroom/one-bath apartment in a rather shabby building in Roxbury, and it costs $1,750 per month. Didn't say anything about what utilities are covered in the rent, but 5 will getcha 10 none are covered. I must say, though, that the apartment allows cats, and that's a highly unusual asset in MA apartments - most of them have a NO PETS policy! 🤔

I just realized that (outside of Guru) Boston has never produced a main stream Hip Hop artist that I'm aware of. Of all the cities (outside of New York), I would think that Philly (which actually has) and Boston would be the leading contributors to Hip Hop culture.
@allahdallas4412 Жыл бұрын
You ever hear of New edition? Bobby Brown? One of the best groups of all time hip hop definitely has deep roots here never forget that and as far as the hoods looks can be deceiving I grew up in Roxbury and everyday I had to look over my shoulders. Civilians will never understand it's not the area it's the people
@jdm9700 Жыл бұрын
@@allahdallas4412 I'm embarrassed for you. New Edition and Bobby Brown??? Those are R&B artists! R&B is not Hip Hop despite the merging of both genres.

@shangli86415 жыл бұрын
scaf they are very expensive. Most of the video is not really the hood anymore since the 2000s. Northern Dorchester along western edges of southie is pretty expensive now. And you can see that along Dudley there are a lot of new developments, some of them are Hope VI development rowhouses but even the vacant land along E Cottage is being developed and the area between Dudley and Columbia rd no longer look like a dump.
