@@MrScorpions999 Bro, I have to listen to that closer. I honestly didn't know. I think Michael Sweet was a good choice to go on the 40th Anniversary being a Christian I've met and on one of the 3 occasions, I had a 30 minutes conversation with him and one other musician. I think he was the right guy at the right time for the rest of them. Michael lost his 1st wife years ago to cancer. The irony is this lifetime southern Californian moved to Boston and remarried and stayed there. Super genuine guy. He really respected Brad for sure and you can hear it in STRYPER's guitar tones and Michael also had a insane range. Thanks for that info Mr Scorpions999. Gone way too soon.

It just rocks my world to watch young folks reaction to hearing any Boston song! I was in a Walmart store and I saw this 14 year old kid wearing a Boston T-shirt. I’m 59 years old and said to the young man “you probably don’t even know who Boston is”. He replied “dude, that’s my favorite band” and I was like “dude! Mine too!” It makes my heart sing to see music bringing us together. Especially these days. Keep rockin sister and I’ll keep watching! Blessings

Did it again: I posted a comment before scrolling down the comments and found you expressed the same sentiment, John. Music has been getting more simpler and it's sad. I hope the trend reverses because it's hard to imagine it getting even more non-melodic and complex than it is right now. If the trend is left to continue, it might go back to the days of cavemen banging rocks together.

Yes and no and I should know as I listened to this song when came out in'76 and since that time there has been much great music made and still being made. If you like something new that is epic I suggest giving Nightwish a listen as they are an act you can actually see live. The past sounds good because it is familiar and not necessarily better and what is popular today will be forgotten for the most part and what will be remembered will seem better in the future too,and so it goes. Music is a subjective thing and always has been.

Boston were phenoms of the 70s and did great things although at a time when rock and roll was somewhat diminished as it was in the heart of the disco era. Not afraid of longer-play songs, their sound was kind of ahead of its time. Very rich and full; sounded like a bunch of folks who were all good at their individual musical disciplines who came together to make wonderful sounds. They weren't prog but sometimes you hear bits of progginess in their music. It's hard to describe this but I bet there are some others out there who will agree. So far, Boston has appeared to have become somewhat timeless and it replays exceptionally well. Play this song, Hitch a Ride, Don't Look Back, Rock and Roll Band, and some others at a party and see what happens. MANY folks will know these. Folks who've never heard will start asking..."Hey, who is this?" Often, they are surprised to hear how long ago this came out.

"sounded like a bunch of folks who were all good at their individual musical disciplines who came together to make wonderful sounds." - There were 2 musicians on the first Boston LP. Tom Sholz played all the guitars and key boards and a lot of the drums. Brad did all the vocals. The rest of the band wasn't formed until after the LP was recorded. There are many stories about the band and Tom and the ensuing legal battles that have followed Tom and the band until a few years ago.

I used to work for Boston. I began working for them in 1976, and left for another job in 1979. A great bunch of guys they were. I began by moving their equipment from Van's, trucks, cars etc. to studios. I'd watch them rehearse at the "Music Complex" on Fresh Pond Parkway in Cambridge, Ma. The main guitar sound they got was from founder, lead guitarist, and just about "Mr. Everything," Tom Scholz. Tommy had an engineering degree from M.I.T. in Cambridge. He played every single instrument on that first record. But he also knew he needed a great lead singer, so that's when lead vocalist Brad Delp joined the group. Sib Hashian on drums, Fran Sheehan on bass, and Barry Goudreau on guitar. That amazing guitar sound that Tom got just perfect for the recordings, came from his enginuity and time at M.I.T. I used to help carry that computer to and from the recording studio. He called it the big "M." And it was enormous and heavy as hell! I liked everyone in that band, but lead vocalist Brad Delp was my favorite one. We just hit it off instantly. Brad was an incredible human being. So kind. An amazingly warm heart. And would do anything for anyone! Sadly, Brad took his own life back in 2007, in Atkinson, N.H. God bless you Brad, and I'm sure that Pamela's still thinking of you.

They were always one of my, if not THE favorite classic rock band. I always considered the music way ahead of its time. And imagine that Tom Scholz said that when they sent the album to Epic Records they wrote him back and said there was nothing new about this music and were have no interest in publishing it... Finally, when he knew someone on the inside they got them to publish it, and still has the framed rejection letter. lol It was probably one of my favorites because I really love superb vocalists, and Brad Delp is definitely one of the greatest.

This is definitely one of the Great Musical Compositions that has kept Me Going for 45 years since it was first released, along with YES, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin, Now go crank this up in a vehicle and put all the windows down and take a drive and listen to the whole album. You need to listen to music like this with speakers in a space, or vehicle with some volume, so the Highs have a place to go, and the Bass can be tweaked a bit to get the full power, from these 70's Tunes. Keep The Power Flowing.

What most people don't know is Brad had the flu when he recorded this song. It's said he had just thrown up in the studio's bathroom, walked out and said " let's do it". This is how it came out. Best recording ever by Boston.

Brad Delp, on the very high notes with "awayyy" goes to a D5, and when you think that's all, he takes it up to an E5! Incredible! Remember, this was the man's actual voice. It was done without computers or synthesizers and was more than twenty years before the invention of Auto Tune or any kind of pitch correction.

A lot of us who grew up in the 1960s, 1970s and early 1980s listen to "Top 40" stations that played everything - pop, rock, R&B and even a little country. All of us kids - black, white and everything else were exposed to all different kinds of music and developed an appreciation for it. I love R&B and know lots of black folks who love rock. It was a great time for radio and music.
