While sitting in their cruiser, Boston officers Kim Tavares and Stephen McNulty discussed the upcoming holiday before joining together to sing "God Bless America."

This is the greatest and the best and the most wonderful thing I ever saw-and, no, they do not need practice because they both have the most wonderful voices. These two officers just made my whole year-I’m proud to share this with my son and anyone who will watch. I’m also proud to say that I work in the city they serve, and I hope that the upper brass at the BPD knows how amazing these two officers are. In this day and age, this video is needed badly. Outstanding and...HILARIOUS! Open mic...I could just hear this over the station dispatch speakers, plus the reactions when these two get back to the station. Not intending to diminish or in any way dismiss the current overly emotional issues, but we need more of this. Try to imagine these two in close proximity of extreme tensions, patrol unit PA on full volume, these two belting away over that PA. Personally, if I were part of these riotous "attendees", that would make me stop for a long pause and ask myself "What the...huh?" maybe even cause me to reconsider, "What am I doing out here, grunting like an idiot." But, hey, maybe that's just my overly simplified perspective or just a fantasy.
