I agree. I live in Rhode Island. And we don’t typically have sharks, I mean, it’s the ocean, so of course there are sharks, but I don’t believe there’s ever even been a shark attack on the little island i Live on. That being said, I still don’t mess with the ocean. I really can’t understand the people who dive off boats in random parts of the ocean lol. I don’t like the feeling of not knowing what’s below me. Even just thinking about it makes me shake. The ocean ain’t to be messed with. Period

Rare doesn’t mean it can’t happen twice in quick succession. There was that guy who reenacted buying a winning lottery ticket and won again. That doesn’t make yours or anyone else’s chances any higher

Plus, overfishing. People are getting gluttonous so as a result, these wild animals will turn on a human, if it ever gets hungry and finds you at the wrong place, at the wrong time. 🐊🐋🐌🦌🐻

I got married there.. I have been shark diving there with Stuart cove many times... this use to be unheard of... now it is happening frequently.. it has to be overfishing...

I used to surf and swim where sharks are well known. I always thought if it did happen. What a way to go. Shark turds. 🦈 I had a seal hit my leg. That adrenaline rush is nuts. I got out of the water. Rosarita MX.

Girl yes. I stay out of the ocean now. I won’t even go ankles deep. I do love the beach, but I love it from the my hotel room. We love the Bahamas, but you won’t find me in that water ever again.

Why are people so shocked that there are actually sharks, yes sharks in the ocean. They are apex predators, and when you go into the ocean, you are taking a risk

It is no different than taking a risk by stepping outside your front door every morning. I've lived my whole life near the water and have never had an issue with sharks. One is more likely to be struck by lightning than to experience a shark attack. Stop scaring people.

@@chuck8024That’s the real problem here. No reason to go more than 300 feet. Paddle board companies also need to reshape paddle boards so they don’t look like an injured fish floating on the surface. That’s why surfers get attacked sometimes.

I m in southern California, I stopped going out into the ocean 30 years ago. Went our way too far, got the heebie geebies while body surfing ,,I felt like something was under me. ,I swam to shore never went out again. It was just a feeling like something was stalking me.

This is definitely a result from overfishing IMO. Shark attacks are getting more common. The waters are changing and the predators are adapting. We are seeing this change irl. Don’t ignore it!!

@@WhitFyffe Right, sure could be a possibility that it was a Great White but Bahamas and Great White in my mind is not that likely. More likely it was 1) Bull shark, 2) Tiger shark or even a Hammerhead, but most likely 1 or 2.

could of drowned, more people drown then are attacked. one year we went to the outer banks and they had 8 drownings during that summer due to rip currents. we watched as they dragged a guy out (we had just talked to him 10 minutes before)and doing cpr. he did not make it.

This is why I refuse to go in the ocean. There is always a chance of this happening even if it’s a small chance it’s not the risk I’m willing to take for me or my children! That’s the sharks home, if they are hungry they will eat it’s their instincts and there is nothing you can do to stop it! They are huge strong apex predators, you are losing that battle whether you are severely hurt or dead.

I surf fish out of Texas. I’ll wade chest deep in unclear water with a chunk of bloody Bonita next to me, and cast out (specifically targeting hammerheads) but you could not pay me to paddle board or kayak in the ocean. Humans don’t really understand the power of these animals. They are massive. 10ft,14ft,16ft+ sharks in these oceans. Weighting hundreds of pounds if not thousands. Once you get 1/2 to 1 mile off shore, you’re right there with the big boys. They are closer to land than most believe.

I will never understand the people who paddle board in the ocean and go so far out 🙄 paddle boards are made for lakes where sharks are not swimming around but even still here in Fla you have to watch out for gators 🐊 it’s just a stupid idea period especially if you have no balance

I enjoy the beach as much as anyone. Remember getting in the water is more dangerous than hiking through bear country. You enter into an apex predators home territory, you forfeit your life to their discretion

Hey people don’t go out that far on paddle boards or kayaks. Definitely isn’t safe and paddle boards are a horrible choice to go that far out on. I’m sorry for her loss but natural selection is natural selection. We are only top of the food chain because of our brains. Don’t put yourself in a position where you are no longer the top predator.

Just a word of advice, don't go up paddle boarding 3/4 of a mile away from shore. As a matter of fact, just don't go do that in the ocean at all. You can do that on freshwater bodies just fine

One of my best friends growing up was killed by sharks while kite surfing in Stuart Florida. RIP to this poor woman and her family 😢

Sharks have been coming closer every where, people must do their research before traveling to certain places even just to be in the water or hiking, read reviews, check with your tour guides, be careful 😢

Two reasons either overpopulation of sharks at a particular time of the year or over fishing which has diminish food resources of the sharks.
