"A very experienced shark expert"? No, a total idiot. Who couldn't see what was coming? That white shark circled him to investigate and weigh up it’s prey, it then bumped the “cage” to get a feel for it and decided it could get to him, it swam off to get distance and attacked from a blindspot below.If you look at it’s eyes it was never looking at the baitfish and was completely uninterested in them, it wanted the dude and if that “cage” wasn’t there he would be dead.He was also lucky there was rigging in the water and the shark got tangled in it or when he got thrown out and was splashing around like a retard it would of circled back and taken his soul.

I’m pretty sure the video is professionally edited with different filming locations. There’s clearly a massive film crew on hand, and it’s clear everyone was fully aware of the shark and quite clear they wanted to “create” a dramatic scene. I’m not saying this didn’t happen. Just saying I don’t think it happened the way it was presented to television, after planning and editing etc.. But 80% of people are ridiculously stupid. Yet, 80% of people would think I am also🤷🏻♂️

@mnomadvfx Жыл бұрын
If this clip is even real then the "box" was no more than basic thick single pane glass - not even up to handling an accidental knock from the boat, let alone a purposeful ramming from a multi ton shark that has the power to lift itself all the way out of the water when hunting. *I very much doubt it is - Discovery has a history of faking or misrepresenting content for entertainment during Shark Week. Also the box was surrounded by fish - however that happened it was clearly designed to draw the shark in and confuse it.

I've seen researchers talk about how it is possible that the metal on some shark diving cages may change the sharks behavior and disrupt their senses because of the ampullae of Lorenzini which sharks and rays use to sense the electromagnetic field... but this was designed poorly. The guy was in a position where he was horizontal and looked more like a seal and any strong bump they could easily overturn it. The shark may have been cut by the plastic too. Idiotic design and I would be surprised if the design wasn't purposeful (I mean they designed it to get more interaction from the sharks on purpose and disregarded the diver's safety. Also, after the first two inquisitive bumps they should have reeled him in anyway).

This scenario seems suspicious to me. The diver questioned whether it was a shark that bumped the cage the third time, no backup plan to rescue the diver in case the cage had to be vacated, and the repeated footage of the shark with a rope in its mouth, yet the "cage" didn't become submerged, allowing the diver to climb out and swim off into the distance. Thank you! I just made the same comment and as I said there of course most of us myself included would've been so terrified and rushed to the boat of course, but him being an "expert" I'm just surprised he didn't do what all the shark shows tells us to which is calm your heart and basically don't project a fear ambience and slowly make your way away from the shark and to the boat. Of course easier said than done and like I said I would've gone mental and b lined it too but I'm surprised with him though don't blame him. I just have heard so much about how having an elevated heart rate and giving off the vibes that you're scared favors the shark and will get it's attention.

I completely disagree with the idea that sharks aren't interested in us as food, I don't know why people say that. If the chance is there and the shark is hungry enough, they will actually just eat you lol like the story of the USS Indianapolis. Or that guy who got completely consumed by a Great White off the rocks in Sydney earlier this year.
@michaelbuick6995 Жыл бұрын
He reacted in the worst way possible. The shark broke the acrylic box, which means it has already figured out it's definitely not food and will lose interest. If he just remained calm and made his way back to the boat he would be fine. Panicking and thrashing at the surface like a wounded seal makes you look like, well, a wounded seal. I'm surprised he didn't attract the sharks back for another go.

He immediately scrambled to put something between him and the shark, checked the shark's position, and made a break for it after realizing he had no other option.
