I remember when my Boston, Bob would reverse sneeze. It was no big deal to me but amusing and understandable watching other people's reactions to it. Just added to his piglet noises 🤷 thank you for taking the time to make this video! It's so great to spread the awareness of what's actually going on and how to help comfort the pup.

I remember even when I was a child that when our dog went into reverse sneezing (I didn't really know what it was back then) I used to gently rub her throat and she would calm down and stop. It was interesting to hear the vet in this video talk about trying that same method.

I have a frenchie who occasionally does this. I was taught by my vet to gently cover her nostrils with my finger for a couple seconds and it stops immediately. The throat rub that I was doing works too but takes a bit longer in my experience.

One of our Bosties, Scully, reverse sneezes every day. We realised that it was because she literally inhales her food. She's not upset by it but because her food include seeds & grains (vet suggested because of other health issues), I worry that these will get lodged in her nasal cavity etc & cause real problems in the long run. have just purchased a slow feeder bowl in the hopes that it will reduce the sneezes. She absolutely hates the bowl of course but we hope it will help.

Our two BTs are prone to reverse sneezing especially in cold temperatures in a Canadian winter. Rubbing their throat helps.

Yeah, I think it is so weird how the temperature change can cause this.

First time my Chihuahua did the reverse sneeze, I panicked. I really thought something was wrong. He's perfectly fine & just has standard allergies just like humans.

My pup is still having an adverse impact from the Kennel Cough vaccine. Reverse sneezing is one of the adverse reactions, red inflamed eyes, and hot ears sometimes is also inflammation from the vaccine. Makes you wonder what those vaccines do to their brains. I also got oral thrush from the puppy. Tried to stop him kissing me, but you know what puppies are like.

My Jack Russell does RS here and there but suddenly (in the last 2 weeks) he seems to be doing it more so. What about heat? We have been under a heat wave 95+ the last several days (we have about 3 more days of the heat wave to go). We have been inside the majority of the time.....I have the fan on in the room as well as the a/c going. We have not done anything out of the ordinary, the Mrs. (a Yorkie mix) is fine. I have a feeling it's a mix of the heat, fans, and possibly dust particles coming from the fan. what do you think?

I’ve said it before. The best way to relax your Boston is by pulling up gently on their rib cage from bottom to top (basically a massage). Worked for me 100%. Edit: I don’t have much knowledge about other dog breeds.
@BostonTerrierSociety4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! Hey, having one Boston Terrier makes you an expert over someone who doesn't have one :)
@ianz284 жыл бұрын
Boston Terrier Society I had 2. Not that it matters. One had luxating patellas and the other had “cherry eye”. Expensive surgeries. I had a lab when I was young (great dog/companion). But, my best friends parents had Boston’s. That is how I fell in love with the breed. Of course I’ve met tons of different types of dogs. There is just something special about Boston’s. As you always say. “Life is better with a Boston.” Edit: I’m definitely not an expert. Just know from experience that a raw diet fixes gastrointestinal issues. And a few other tidbits that worked with mine.
@BostonTerrierSociety4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a video coming out with a vet who is talking about cherry eye. Also, would you be interested in me interviewing you to talk about your experince of feeding a Boston Terrier a raw diet. An owners perspective I think it would be helpful to a lot of people.
@ianz284 жыл бұрын
Boston Terrier Society I’ll try to get them for a weekend and see if it’s possible. I’d have to figure out a decent video setup. I’d enjoy that. I’d want them in the video.

I hold my BT up to "sit like people" or lay her on her back to calm her down. You have to make sure you support their back an such, though, especially if your BT has a curly tail (they're more prone to back and vertebrae problems).
