6:52 Because Sam Puckett is a writer's favorite, she can't ever lose or be wrong because the writers didn't want her to be. In a string of trends from Dan show's Sam is perhaps the worst example. No matter what Sam does it's all going to be Freddie's fault, no ifs ands or buts. Even Carly somehow made all their problems in iDate Sam and Freddie somehow revolve around Freddie. And this is coming from a guy who didn't even mind Megan Parker, at least it was clear Megan was an antagonist who you're suppose to hate! When it comes to Sam while not he best by any means I preferred her in earlier seasons where she was just an aggressive tomboy and with the exception of her Freddie abuse I found her aggressiveness was better utilized for comedy purposes. At least depending on the context. Like that episode where those writers plagiarized skits from iCarly into a show called Totally Terry, Sam attacks them with a butter sock. It was funny not only because those guys deserved it, but because its very straight that it is comedic, I mean Sam is attack guys with a sock filled with butter, that's funny. But when you compare this to her horrible violent attack on Gibby in iCan't Take it or how she beats Freddie (especially that aggressive slap she gave him in iSell Penny Tees) the tone of her aggression is so different, if they were going to make Sam this aggressive character I find using the former would be far better, as she could still assault people, but with the actual intent that it is funny, rather than being played as funny, while unintentionally awful! Even an episode earlier had Sam wanting to be girlier because she felt her more aggressive tendencies were too far, I felt this could've been explored more with her. Even iKiss had Carly actually call Sam out on her actions. Honestly I can't blame Freddie for being kinda jerkish in later episodes because with how unfairly he gets treated (even by Carly herself at times) it would make sense for someone to develop a more jerkish exterior. I mean can you really blame the guy when he gets treated with less respect and often abused by his crewmates? Carly sometimes can use his crush on her to get what she wants or how often Sam abuses him? This arc was awful, argubly one of the worst in this universe.

I said this in the last video, but it feels like Nickoledon forced the writers to do the Seddie arc, so they made the episodes as terrible as possible. It’s obvious that writers showed in “I start a fan war” that they didn’t want the show to be shipping. Nickoledon saw that romance episodes were the highest viewed episodes and obsession from the fans and wanted increase viewership. This episode shows that the writers had some understanding on how to make Sam and Freddie’s relationship work but they choose to make them insufferable.

It’s good to see that I’m not the only one who finds this to be a stupid finale. It would probably work a little more (still not very much, considering last episode 😒) if this was the thing that broke the camel’s back rather than being the only reason. If they, during their conversation in the elevator, brought up the things they harmed or ruined by being in a relationship with each other and ultimately decided that it wasn’t worth all the denial and that it’s best to end the relationship, it would be a lot better by itself but far from enough to fix everything in the story line.

The only time Sam ever got what she deserved for doing something awful to someone else is in the episode where Spencer has to juggle a first date with a classy girl and filling in for Sam co-hosting iCarly. If you remember Sam went to jail for a few days for slapping someone who turned out to be like the Mexican ambassador or something. I know this episode was only written because Jeannette McCurdy got really sick before filming and couldn’t be in the episode that week but still she suffered consequences for her poor decision making in this one case. There were many times where Sam could have and should have been charged with a crime but because it was being played for laughs she never suffered consequences for anything. One other terrible example of her getting away with horrible things is the explanation for why Sam deserves to have a boyfriend in the first season where she dates that creep Jonah. Sam says she hasn’t had a boyfriend since 5th grade when the guy she was dating rudely dumped her. Carly then reminds Sam that, I believe, she pushed the guy out of a tree and broke his leg. Then Sam says the guy rudely dumped her. This is implying that physically harming a significant other is not a good enough reason for them to break up with the other person. This show really plays fast and loose with morality and what’s worse is the target audience for this show perhaps hasn’t dated very much if at all and will see what Sam does to Freddy (among other people) and think that’s an ok way to treat a significant other.

It seems like Sam went through flanderization throughout the series, which came to a head here. When you look at season 1 (and to a much lesser extent season 2) , while she was still somewhat abrasive, she mainly limited things to snarky remarks. Compare that to later on, where she doesn't care if others get hurt physically or emotionally as long as she's happy. It's no wonder Jennette McCurdy regrets ever playing her.
@justjoannak Жыл бұрын

@FrozenUSA2 жыл бұрын
It has always really bothered me that once this arc is completed, the show NEVER mentions their relationship ever again. You get a one off line in the Sam & Cat episode where Freddie makes an appearance and Sam says she did date Freddie and it’s not something she’s proud of. Freddie goes so far as to renew his crush on Carly following this story arc. That’s how little they talk about the ending of things. I do like the idea of an episode where they either talk about the breakup in a blogpost on the iCarly website or take a few minutes at the end of one of their shows to say something. Then they read their comment section and people are just as passionate one way or another as they were in iStart A Fan War. They would try to ignore the comments but the following week they notice a sharp drop off in viewership and be forced to spend an episode talking about what happened and why. The bottom line should be that they will continue to be friends and that their breakup has not and will not effect the quality or continuation of the show. That being said the meat of the episode should be like iFred or iKiss in the sense that this announcement of the breakup should negatively effect Sam and Freddie emotionally. The fandom then need good solid logic for why the relationship ended. PieGuy this reminds me of the video you posted a little over a year ago explaining why you stopped reviewing and making Spongebob videos in general. The fans of the videos became too much to handle and some of them even rage quit your channel because you weren’t giving them the content they wanted when they wanted. However, you explained to your subscribers very clearly and concisely why these videos stopped and why they may never happen again. This didn’t mean you were shutting down your channel. It just meant your focus would be elsewhere. The Seddie arc needed that kind of closure to the relationship as well. This relationship was hinted at so many times over the preceding seasons. Heck, even Dan himself said in a blogpost for the episode iSpeed Date that there is a awkward bit of editing when Carly and Freddie are dancing because *something* (a kiss perhaps?) had to be edited out so as not to effect plans for the characters in the future. With all of this buildup just for things to return to pre Seddie arc episodes the literal very next episode is infuriating no matter how bad the arc was. That’s just poor if not lazy writing. Every other tv show that has major characters date for awhile after being “just friends” at first and eventually have the characters break up, address the breakup. They either have an entire episode devoted to it or at least have a few lines of the next episode address things. This show really dropped the ball in the last year or so. Up until this point every single one of Dan Schneider’s shows that weren’t sketch comedy shows lasted exactly 4 seasons and there is a reason for that. He never knew how to write for a show that lasted longer than 3-4 years. Besides the actors were getting too old to play high school kids and he has never written a show about kids in college. The show should have ended not long after the Seddie arc came to a close. Instead it lasted an additional 18 episodes before the finale took place. I’m just glad Dan has nothing to do with the revival (which I haven’t seen) and that Jeannette McCurdy knew enough about not only her character’s personality traits but her own life and how she was abused in many ways by many people that she didn’t return to the show.
@musiclover69442 жыл бұрын

Good review. Now that the arc has been tackled, we can finally get to less sufferable stuff. I will admit that I didn't really care for this Seddie arc, I wasn't even into shipping from the start when the original show began in 2007 (I was turning 9 the month after the first episode debuted). I tried to give the show a chance, because I enjoyed watching that show when it was on. Even in the bad times. Now I can say is either these episodes or any of the episodes from the later seasons are problably my least favorite episodes of the great show that Schnider's Bakery gave us. I will admit I was in a pickle when the series were in these last few seasons. I was trying to be a christian and believe in the bad things that this arc has given us. I was foolish about it. But when I found your channel about a year and a half ago, and since then, I learned that you should do something about stressful situations like this. Your reviews of this arc made me feel humored about the problems portrayed between what I kind of think is a hate triangle in the arc. Like Sam and Freddie making Carly have to listen to their feuding and pick a side, everyone's life gone bad and mad because of how disrespectful Sam and Freddie have been acting as a couple and try to break them up because of all the effects their relationship has on them, and how they are not right for each other, etc. I wish you good luck in life, and keep up the good work you always do Pieguy. I wish the best for Jennette McCurdy because of all the many hard obsticles she had to go through when acting for Nickelodeon over the years. I also am glad the revival for Paramount plus is as good as it was from the start (before my middle school years at least). I hope that it keeps this good quality for more to come.

iCan't Take It and iLove You seem to have similar main/sub-plots to the As Told By Ginger episodes Wicked Game and Family Therapy, where a few main characters want a couple they don't like to break up, only to fail, and a main character being treated childishly by someone they're close to, having no problem with it.

So if you were to do a Bizarro Bakery for this, would you be basing it on JoshxMindy? Just like one big episode perhaps?

I'm all the more confident in saying I'd rather watch Drake and Josh.

Look I know it’s easy to write off that show cause of what Drake Bell did, but think of it this way: now Meghan fucking with them is justified.

It’s over now in the reboot I hate how Carly asks what do I know? You said they should stay together when Sam ruined His chance of going to college he should have dumped her but you stopped it from happening he’s right it’s your fault

Carly was such a hypocrite here😭 if we go back to Idate a bad boy Carly breaks up with griffin for liking pee wee babies, which she didn’t. And now this mtf wants to go to then and say “YOU NEED TO LEARN TO LIKE STUFF HE LIKES AND LEARN STUFF SHE LIKES!!” WHAT? Also they were legit fine till Carly wanted to force them to learn stuff they like?? CARLY FORCED THE WHOLE RELATIONSHIP TOGETHER?? Also the fact no one even questions sams prison record, like Freddie,Carly,gibby and Spencer just sit there like “she has a prison record and can literally kill us if she wants to? That’s fine means nothing” well besides Carly cause Carly knows for a fact Sam ain’t gonna hit her, and maybe Spencer since she seems to actually like him

I agree. Carly was way too invested in this relationship for it to end any way other than it did. Carly even says she likes them together even if it’s weird and essentially lives for the drama because she doesn’t have a boyfriend. She could have still had Griff but just like what was stated above she too dumps someone because she doesn’t like what they obsessively like. I didn’t like how they made Griff’a Pee-Wee Baby collection something only little girls should like. They play it for laughs. Instead Griff should have really defended himself (can’t remember how much he defended himself) and said to Carly, “if you like me as much as I like you then you have to learn to at least accept that I may like things you don’t like and that’s fine. If you really can’t handle that then I guess I can’t handle being your boyfriend anymore.” The creepy thing was that in the heatwave episode Griff really thought he could have a one-off make out session with Carly and she would be fine with it. There were other things like stealing Spencer’s bike that should have kept Carly far away from Griff but girls like Carly eventually date the Griff’s of the world to sort of get it out of their system and realize those people are probably not the long term relationship guys and you can’t change them into being that way. The same is said for Sam and Freddie. I will admit that Carly does have a point that couples should spend quite a bit of time together and they do with the web show. If they honestly don’t like trains or visiting relatives in prison it’s ok. The should at least hang out all day at school, walk each other home, and call each other every night. Sam had more in common with her horrible ex Jonah from the first season than she ever did with Freddie and he tried to cheat on her with Carly. I honestly don’t know what type of guy Sam might ultimately end up with long term but I think both she and Freddie need to do some soul searching (and in Sam’s case some serious therapy) before they date anyone else.

I know you won't see this but will you discus nick sitcoms unrelated to the Schneiderverse (side hustle, drama club)?

I forgot to mention, I rank this second on the list of Seddie episodes because this is when its all over and that everyone on the show can finally get back to their normal lives. I might consider IOMG the best one of the arc. I know the worst belongs to I Can't Take It. But at least with Pieguyrulz tackling it makes things less stressful, even if I ignore watching those bad episodes.

This show use too build up all of my hopes until I started to realize that I've got jipped. Cheated and lied too. But the more I think what my peers say about life. The more I appreciate that it was for the fun of it. Patience is in a fact a virtue you know.
