Dan S. is a one trick pony now. He's not creative as he just copy and pastes his characters from his other shows onto "new" shows. It goes the same for the storytelling as a lot of the shows have practically the same plots. Nick is a joke now and personally I see kids catching on to the repetition of this network. My nieces and nephews used to watch shows like ICarly when they were younger but now they don't even turn on Nick as they watch a lot of Cartoon Network. When I asked one of my nephews (this one is 10 years old) why he stopped watching Nick he said the shows are boring now, Kids are slowly catching on the Nick's recycling and soon it'll backfire on them and they'll fade even further into obscurity.

Max Pierre True and it's not even the good episodes as they show reruns of the garbage seasons aka season 6-8. If you're going to reply the same show half the day at least reply good seasons with good epsiodes like "The Alge's Always Greener" or " Imitation Krabs". It's a shame as I along with many others grew up with Nick watching quality shows like Rugrats, Jimmy Neutron, Kablam (mainly Action League Now!) Hey Arnold, and early Spongebob. Now they're a shell of a shell of what they once stood for.

The fact that Kel is even in this only proves one thing. Nick. Needs to stop. PLAYING ON NOSTALGIA. Now this argument could easily be proven wrong, but this may come as a surprise to some but FAIRLY ODD PARENTS is still technically running. SpongeBob is still running and Nick is very proud of it. Now don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to Nickelodeons "The Splat" channel which will feature shows like Ren and Stimpy and Rocco's Modern Life but I'll be damned if Nickelodeon comes up with an original idea that works. Nick is afraid to experiment and it will kill them.

The reason a lot of older shows are remembered is because they were TIMELESS. anyone can watch older F.O.P or Rocko's Modern Life, or Hey Arnold and still laugh and have fun with it as much as when it first premered. Same thing with movies like Iron Giant, Emperors New Groove, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Treasure Planet, Atlantis The Lost Empire, Prince of Egypt, Road to Eldorado and other films. Nick needs to make more timeless stuff because that is why a lot of older stuff is remembered not just because of nostalgia trends. They need to make more timeless things.

The thing about Gibby is...he wasn't a main character. He wasn't in _every_ episode. And he wasn't _that_ stupid for the most part. This kid in Game Shakers is one of the _main characters_. Everything he says _is_ a non sequitur and yes his laugh is annoying! He was really my main problem with the pilot and a main reason why I haven't watched much more of this show. I don't understand why the other characters keep him around (well, I guess Babe likes him kinda but he's so stupid there's a point where I have to question that). He doesn't really give that much to the group and I feel like it's more of the creators _forcing him in_.

It wasn't too bad. It told us a story of how Mr. Krabs was a great cook in the Navy when he shouldn't have been and some of the people on the ship were Squidward, Spongebob, Patrick (as the captain), and Sandy. As for Tutor Sauce, Mr. Krabs helps Spongebob drive a boat because the Krabby Patties tasted like sadness and the orders were messed up. The Krusty Krab has some damages and may have a lawsuit because, in a little gag of Mr. Krabs assessing some damage, Squidward attacked a customer for some reason. I hope I didn't spoil the episode too much.

I would say that's sad and downright pathetic on Dan's part, especially how the show was advertised as "The Return of Kel", but honestly, since the Modern Dan Schneider era, just watch some episodes and you'll notice that he reuses actors WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much.

+Jimmy Valmer GamerGate is probably one of the most stupid keyboard warrior movements in existence It's original goal was to call out corruption in gaming journalism(as if other forms of journalism don't have corruption.) It all started when an Indie gam developer, Zoe Quinn, slept with her boss(a gaming journalist) behind her boyfriend's back. Her boyfriend broke up with her and wrote a blog about why he did so (providing screenshots of texts as evidence). The post comes out, as does a game Zoe made. Apparently the game was mediocre, but it got amazing ratings. People then started to think Zoe fucked her boss to get a good review. They call her out for her shit, and crazy feminists start screaming "YOU JUST DON'T THINK WOMEN SHOULD BE GAMERS! MYSOGINISTIC PIGS!". So this leads to a lot of in fighting, a lot of slactivism, a lot of trolling, a lot of hate speech in general, Zoe's family apparently being threatened(but considering what some people consider to be "harassment" this could be false, Zoe deciding two charities were evil and shutting them down, Anita Sarkeesian taking her side, and just all around stupid bullshit that should not effect the lives of individual gamers at all. All because some basic bitch slept with a guy that was not her boyfriend. :/

This is how I would do this pilot. Make it into 3 separate episodes. The first could introduce the idea and show them working on the game. The second episode could show them SLOWLY get up the charts and deal with becoming popular. The 3rd one could have a character like Double G, but like hip-hop, and tweak it a bit.

(This is just an updated version of a comment that was deleted when this review was re-uploaded) PieGuy, I've seen so many live-action shows on Nickelodeon that try way too hard to appeal to today's demographic and fail miserably at it, whether they pander to kids that play games or just present stereotypes like the ones you mentioned. We expect better from Dan Schenider at this point and we are tired of seeing the same exact character types and plot devices we've seen for years now. This show is the tipping point where viewers like us say enough is enough. Your review proves this and I applaud you for giving this show the treatment it deserves.

This show I never had hope in. I do develop games, or at least experiment. It would have pissed me off if they didn't accurately portray game development. I spend HOURS trying to experiment (or at the very least, 20 minutes or more.) And then I just watched you say about 2 minutes in. That is incredibly stupid. I just felt so enraged. Like, TTG enraged. This area is one I have a personal connection to, which makes me just so confused. (Which reminds me. Who can I email to ask them to stop the show. Or, I'll get a petition running to stop TTG.) But enough of that, onto the actual show. I am not a fan of live-action. Maybe that's because of Dan Schneider. Would anyone be surprised if it was? +Shadow Rogue I feel your pain. I'm currently going to school for engineering while taking a few game development courses and it's a lot of hard work. There's so much programming and coding you need to understand and I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. The fact that Nick shows these kids as automatic successes without showing any of the labor and hard work it takes to make a successful game even if it's just an app pisses me off as well. It' just shows the writers' ignorance towards video game development and desperate plea to grab a popular demographic's attention. Luckily people like us will stay far away from this joke of a show.

I think the point of this show was to get kids into downloading the actual games Nickelodeon developed to cash in.

That was the point of the show. It was kind of like the early premise of iCarly where they had a website for the show and anyone (not just paid actors) could submit videos that could potentially end up on the show. This idea was mostly scrapped after the first season and they for parts of the second season had actual viral stars (such as the insufferable Fred) on the show. I agree that there was nothing showing the effort of the Game Shakers creating their app or seeing the progression of the app reaching number one. At least in iCarly it took around 3 seasons for their viewership to reach 1million a week. In the pilot episode Carly and Sam freaked out that their video of them making fun of Ms. Briggs got 27k views in one day. In shows like this today the video that starts it all would get like hundreds of thousands of views in one day or not be considered good or popular. Then by either the end of the first episode or the second episode they would have already had an audience of 1million a week. I liked that we got to see their promotion of the show in the early years with things such as a dance themed episode, public ways to get more viewers, hoping Nevel will write a positive review on his website, collaborating with other viral internet stars, the 50th web show spectacular and many others. They didn’t even have a recurring bit on the show until the random dancing one which was designed to help them stay awake when they tried to break a world record for longest continual and webcast. The recurring sketches of Fuffly and Peta and the cowboy and the farm girl who thought the mustache was a squirrel didn’t happen until like season 3. I think only Messing with Lewbert happened earlier. Bottom line is that with Game Shakers the show implies that you too can become super famous in one week if you have a very basic concept of apps/games and an elementary school level of coding. iCarly showed how it takes time and effort and really good content to make something successful and it’s creators super famous.

Penguin Man I personally don't have a problem with Nick taking inspiration from and acknowledging internet culture _in theory_, and having a big time KZbin game reviewer guest star on a show about gaming could've been an example of them doing it right (you know, if they did someone more kid-friendly like PBG or SpaceHamster). However, I do agree that they're doing it all wrong, forcing outdated memes and internet jokes into their episodes for no reason other than to seem hip.

+King DJ TMNT 2012 is good, but it also highlights the obvious problem with Nickelodeon. Even if there are a few good things, basically everything they make are derivative works: Legend of Korra was a sequel to Avatar from their better age, TMNT was an outside IP they acquired, Every Schneider show is pulling character archetypes/cut-outs from each other, Breadwinners came from a sub-par internet animation. Nickelodeon's legitimately new and original works in the last 5 years could be counted on one hand.

+papershadow69 Agreed with you that the only shows that work on their network are the ones already based on something sucessful And as for Legend of Korra which was 1 of the only 2 good shows on Nick at the time (before Harvey Beaks, I guess they have a 2 good shows quota) they treated it like shit and they screwed the creators over multiple times, for example they said Korra was going to be a one season then they were going to make The Search, but at the last minute they said were are going to greenlight Korra for another season and cancel The Search, which resulted in the season 1 finale and the first half of Season 2 being shaky (by their standards) Then when the show was getting red hot and great........ put it online

Going to be honest here. The rapper annoys the living heck out of me. Compared to Ray (Henry Danger) and Spencer (ICarly), he can't compare. The last two frequently contributed to the story and were usually much less ridiculous and "hip". The kind of hip this show tries to be and the kind of hip that has me running the other direction.

I would love for him to do a bottom of the bakery or bizarro bakery episode for Henry Danger. It was the last show Dan Schneider actually worked on. I’m sure these videos will never happen again because of the circumstances that led Dan to be fired from Nickelodeon. I would just want him to do a comparison of a Dan episode of Henry Danger vs. a post Dan episode. I wholeheartedly believe the show got infinitely better after Dan was fired. The writing was much better and I actually found myself laughing more at the things the characters said instead of cringing at some stupid pun someone made. I also enjoyed how the show ended and went right into the Danger Force spin-off. Then I would like to see a video of Danger Force talking about how this show is Dan inspired but he has nothing to do with it except getting a based on credit. I do really like that Jace Norman is a producer on Danger Force. He helps the show maintain a connection to the original series without it getting into the realm of crappy spinoff like Dan did with Sam & Cat which I believe is Dan’s worst show ever. Game Shakers wasn’t too far behind. Right after it was announced that Dan was fired Nickelodeon, in the same press briefing announced that Game Shakers was essentially just burning off the rest of the episodes it produced but had yet to air and then it would be cancelled.

Dan Schneider seems to be proving himself to be the Seth MacFarlane of kid's entertainment in that he keeps recycling the same formula over and over again without improving. Oh, and in other Schneider's Bakery news, did you see that they just did a ten year anniversary thing for Chase and Michael from Zoey 101? Relating to struggle is much easier than relating to success. Not saying that these characters should never be successful but I'd much prefer to see their many hardships on the way. I'd probably like ICarly a lot more if it were about three teenagers attempting to make it big on the internet but failing miserably, it would teach its viewers the reality of the internet instead of leaving the impression that the internet is perfect and success is earned with ease.
