Both expansions to Raiders of the North Sea!

Rules Correction: When attacking a Jarl you must take wounds equal to it's military strength plus 1. And when subduing you take wounds minus 1. You must also pay the cost to hire as normal.

Nice review, backed these on Kickstarter and enjoy playing them both, they do add good additional options to the base game. Minor correction though... Killing a Jarl requires you to take wounds = to it's military strength + 1. Subduing it requires you to take wounds = it's military strength - 1. Also not mentioned is if you do subdue a Jarl you also have to pay the cost for it at the time.

Great review. New to your channel, but I am fairly impressed. I am fairly new to board gaming, and I seen a play through when I first started for Raiders of the North Sea. I was excited to try it, and even though it was hard to acquire then, I loved it. Shem did a great job with this series. This one in particular is in my top ten, and my whole family loves it. His Explorers of the North Sea is really good also, and worth looking into. I am presently waiting on the expansion for this... Again great review.

I get why you'd want to place the quests underneath the spoils on each of the raiding locations, but I can't bring myself to cover up the artwork on the board. The vibrant colors and the amazing/unique artwork are 2 of the main reasons I enjoy this game so much. Good overview of the expansions though!

Really great review! Just played the base game for the first time last weekend. Now I'm sad about how much money I put into other worker placements like Lords of Waterdeep and Viticulture. This game is far superior.

Thanks for the review. Worker? or crew member? I think you meant crew member when you goto the mead hall and recruit. Going to get HoH first for the 5th player and the player boards. Do more quick 10m reviews on games and you are well on your way

They do sell a big box on their website. I bought it as well and it works beautifully even with sleeved cards.

You can fit it all into one box but the lid will be lifted up higher. Not ideal but $30 for essentially a box and some sleeves is a hard sell for me.

Hard to say, I haven't really noticed it making the games much longer. The end game conditions are still the same. You do have a few more things to consider but nothing that really drags the game out.

How much player interaction is there? I've watched a few videos and it seems to me like everybody is playing a solo game on their own. Almost none of your decisions impact the others except for choosing what places to raid first maybe? Also do they fit in the same box?

Player interaction is pretty good for this game. You can mess up someone's future plans by where you place or pick up a worker. Someone might need to get money first before they hire a worker. And your placement could mess up that rhythm. Also player interaction comes up big as you start raiding settlements. you can take what someone else wanted to raid. You can take an offering before someone else does. You can take face up viking cards from the mead hall that someone else wanted. There are a large number of viking cards that interact with other players, causing them to give you resources or swap cards. Glad to help further if you have other questions. They will only fit in the main box if you discard the inserts. And then it is a tight fit.

Isaac Campos I might suggest Stone Age or Lords of Waterdeep first. Then step up to Raiders. But all of them would be great firsts.

I enjoy the game but the cost of the expansions is CRAZY. EACH of the expansions is more expensive than the original game. I know you rate these expansions 'green" so I am guessing value was not considered

Max, the base game is $50 USD and each expansion is $30 USD. Apparently some online retailers have been charging more due to an original confusion over the listing price.
