Thank you for this review. I wasn’t sure if this was a “simplified” version of Raiders or the same game. You cleared up my confusion completely.

I bought the retail version a couple of years ago and it came with metal coins and all the resources besides the provisions are wooden but not cubes - they are different shapes

Thank you, I'm looking to purchase, as I just played with a friend, and he had metal coins. Now I was wondering if he had a kickstarter version and I would only get cardboard tokens for coin on a retail game. Thanks for clarifying.

Currently $17 from Walmart! Loving the companies are taking great board games but making them accessible from a price point. Allows you to play the game. If you love it, buy the nicer version but it’s not your cup of tea you didn’t spend $70!

Thanks for the video. I got this edition recently. The box is actually slightly bigger than the original ones. I love the game so much I had to go out to MeepleSource and buy the upgrade pack

I have checked that pack out. Just can't justify the price at the moment.

@@TheMeepleMarathon I don't blame you. I got the Hall of Heroes expansion and wanted the meeples to be somewhat similar. Tokens and orange meeples was too much for me haha. Sounds like you have some nice upgrades already for this, so that is awesome.

I think the solo mode has been design after the game had been published. The cards are rare to find, but there is a cheap app.

Some of tokens are the ones from Fields of Fame, but there is no trace for the jarl cards nor the board extension, do they explain it in the rules? (I guess it is another cost cut strategy for when the viking edition of the expansions come out)
@TheMeepleMarathon2 жыл бұрын
The Jarl tokens are in this version because if you purchase the Fields of Fame expansion, the Jarl tokens will be wooden pieces. To keep the tokens consistent with the cardboard cutouts, they went ahead and included them. Basically, only the base game is getting the "cheaper" treatment. The cards and board extension will work form the expansion.

This edition is compatible with the expansions ??
@TheMeepleMarathon Жыл бұрын
Yes, essentially some of the components have just been downgraded, but all of the core content is there. This version even includes cardboard tokens for the resources that come in the Hall of Heroes expansion, that way, everything you are drawing out of the bag is a cardboard tile.

So glad i got the old edition. I hate drawing cardboard out of a bag. Looking at you isle of cats. I feel like they get ruined a lot faster from you, trying to mix them in a bag

Oy, I don’t think notoriety is the right term - that’s being known for doing something bad! Shem definitely innovated on the standard ideas of worker placement, but I think it’s been generally well-received, not shunned.

Why would anyone be okay with this if the original has wooden components. No solo is no go for me.
@TheMeepleMarathon2 жыл бұрын
This version is approximately $20 cheaper and is more readily available. The original game did not have a built in solo mode option either, but a solo AI deck you could purchase and runs similar to the West Kingdom AI decks. The don't produce the physical cards anymore, but you can download the app and it works just fine.
